Toram evening in Valencia?

With Valencia against Getafe it comes to a crisis duel in La Liga. The home side started the new season with a win against Girona, but then suffered defeats against Bilbao and Atletico Madrid.

The attack was very weak in these games – both defeats were accompanied by a clean sheet for the hosts. The visitors are still waiting for their first three points and are in third last place with only one point.

For the match at the Mestalla between Valencia and Getafe, the tip aims for a maximum of two goals by the final whistle.

Valencia – Statistics & current form

Last season’s ninth-placed team has, as described, made a weak start to the new season. This will probably change little in the future, due to financial problems, the club has thinned out the squad.

Goncalo Guedes, for example, left coach Gennaro Gattuso’s team in the summer for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League. With eleven goals and six assists, the Portuguese was still Valencia’s lynchpin going forward last season.

Soler will soon be playing on the Seine

As of this week, Carlos Soler is also unavailable. The Spaniard will move to the French champions Paris St. Germain. This means that the winner of the 1980 European Cup Winners’ Cup will be without another powerful attacking player, who, like Guedes, scored eleven goals last season.

Given that the two best attacking players of last season have now left, the odds on the home side scoring the maximum goal in the clash between Valencia and Getafe also make sense.

No money for new players on the offensive

The analysis of a significantly weakened home attack is supported by the fact that no adequate replacement has been signed. There is no sign of this happening either, because Valencia’s tight financial situation, as described above, simply does not allow for any major leaps.

The two most recent nil losses and the meagre 1:0 against Girona at the start of the season have shown that the two-time finalists in the top flight already have serious problems in their forward play.

In contrast, the defence of “Los che” is quite stable despite the two recent defeats: The defeats both came by a narrow 0:1 margin.

Predicted line-up of Valencia:
Mamardashvili – Lato – Cömert – Diakhaby – Correia – Foulquier – Musah – Guillamon – Dias Lino – Castillejo – Marcos Andre

Getafe – Statistics & current form

The 15th of the last season barely saved themselves from relegation with this placement. Now another difficult season is on the horizon for the visitors. So far, they are one of six teams in the Spanish top flight without a win.

Like their opponents, they are also struggling on the offensive, with only one goal. This is not a new pattern: last season, only relegated Alaves scored less than Getafe in the league.

Defence with room for improvement

In contrast to the home side, however, the defence is also shaky. The “Azulones” have conceded six goals – only promoted Valladolid, Espanyol and Cadiz surpass this record.

Against this background, betting on a home win to nil in the clash between Valencia and Getafe is also interesting.

The prediction is also supported by the away weakness of the visitors: Last season they only managed one win away from home and had the third weakest away record.

Guests run decimated

The problems in the defence of the two-time Cup runners-up, last seen 14 years ago, are again also the result of a strained personnel situation in this part of the team.

Damian Suarez and Omar Alderete, the latter defender who played for the upcoming opponents last season, are currently absent due to injury.

To make matters worse, Argentinian defender Fabrizio Angileri picked up a red card on the penultimate matchday, which means he will also be unavailable for the “Coliseum Alfonso Pérez” side.

Projected line-up of Getafe:

Soria – Duarte – Djene – Iglesias Sanchez – Alvarez Sosa – Portu – Arambarri – Seonane – Alena – Unal – Mayoral

Valencia – Getafe Direct comparison / H2H record

The last direct encounter took place last March and ended goalless. Thanks to the draw, the home side are unbeaten in two comparisons in this pairing (1-1-0).

Furthermore, the 2004 UEFA Cup winners can rely on home advantage against coach Quique Sánchez Flores’ side: Valencia have not lost any of their last five games at home to Getafe in the Mestalla in league action and the Copa del Rey (2-3-0).

Valencia – Getafe Tip

For the clash between Valencia and Getafe, the prediction includes no more than two goals in the course of the match. Both attacking lines have disappointed so far, scoring only one goal in the first three matchdays.

Since at least the home defence is stable, a low-scoring game can be expected from this angle as well, and the home side’s three league games have all ended with less than one goal. On average, only one goal was scored – the lowest figure in the league-wide rankings.

The prediction is supported by the statistics: Both matches last season ended with a maximum of one goal.

Moreover, the home side will be weakened offensively due to Soler’s imminent departure. Because the other top offensive player, Guedes, was sold earlier, Valencia’s attacking line must be regarded as clearly weakened.
