Derby atmosphere in Köpenick
There have been a few cities that have hosted a city derby in the Bundesliga. Currently, however, two teams in the top flight are a unique selling point of the capital. On Saturday, the eagerly awaited derby between Union and Hertha is on the agenda. Nothing less than the city championship is at stake.
It is the first of three duels between the two local rivals this season, as in addition to the two matches in the Bundesliga, the two clubs will also meet in the third round of the DFB Cup. At least on Saturday, the well-known betting providers tend to offer lower quotes on a home win for the Eisernen.
Urs Fischer’s team is in eighth place in the table with 17 points. Hertha have twelve points and are in 13th place. This means that the trend is clear again this year. The Eisernen have collected 19 points more than the old lady since their promotion to the Bundesliga and perhaps that is one reason why the forecast between Union Berlin and Hertha is more towards a home win.
The Berlin derby should be predestined for live betting. Both Union and Hertha have already given away eight points after leading this season. Hertha – Statistics & current form
The Big City Club is only number two in the capital at the moment. This circumstance will not change at the weekend, but at the moment Hertha are relatively relaxed after many quarrels in recent months. However, this is mainly due to the fact that the sporting decline has been halted in the last few games.
Upward trend at Hertha
Pal Dardai’s team has only conceded one defeat in the last five competitive matches. The team now looks much more stable than at the beginning of the season and has already recorded two victories away from home this season. This could mean that in the clash between Union Berlin and Hertha, you could also be right in predicting a point win for the old lady.
Before the international matches, the Berliners had the difficult home match against Bayer Leverkusen ahead of them. Union Berlin – Hertha Direct comparison / H2H balance
In fact, the explosiveness of Berlin derbies is not as great as in other cities. That is because this rivalry has not been able to grow, as there have only been eight competitive matches between Union and Hertha to date. In the direct comparison, the old lady is still just ahead with 3:2 victories. Three other duels ended in a draw.
In the Bundesliga, Hertha is still waiting for a win at the Alte Försterei. Recently, however, the old lady has done better in the derbies, taking seven points from the last three games.
