The Schowto-blakytni (yellow-blue) won last Tuesday’s European Championship final after extra time against Sweden and won their first knockout match in a EURO. Previously, the Eastern Europeans had never made it into the eighth finals of a final round of the European Championships and thus they are also in a quarter-finals for the first time. The Three Lions celebrated a home win against Germany in Wembley on the same day and a few hours earlier and dropped the ticket for the round of the last eight teams.

Andriy Shevchenko’s national team was eager to stay behind against Sweden from the outset. The Scandinavians were visually superior, but could not get a real chance to score. With the exception of a goal by Ishak, not much happened (19th). The Tre Kronor didn’t make it through the final period. Suddenly Ukraine did better and promptly went through its star Zinchenko with 1:0 in front (27.). Just two minutes later, Bushchan parried a free kick from Larsson and prevented the quick equalization (29th). After the deficit, Sweden did not pick up and even equalised to 1-1 by the conspicuous Forsberg before the break (43rd). In the second period, the game became more lively. The Tre Kronor remained the better team and were lucky that Sydorchuk only hit the post (55th). In return, Forsberg did not do better (56th). The Leipziger also scored in the 69th minute aluminium in the form of a slatted crusher. It went up and down at this stage. Yarmolenko also forgave the re-guidance for the yellow-blues two minutes earlier (67th). In the final phase, the encounter flattened and the forces disappeared on both sides. It went into overtime, in which the Swede Danielson, after the intervention of the video referee, saw the red card after a horror foul (98th). The Scandinavians were in shorthandedness in the back and wanted to save themselves from the penalty shootout, but in the overtime Ukraine took the chance of Dovbyk per head and scored the 2:1 victory goal (120. +1).
The Shevchenko team was unable to convince in the three preliminary rounds with only one victory against North Macedonia on the second day (2:1) and two defeats against Holland (2:3) at the start and in the last group game against Austria (0:1). Nevertheless, as one of the fourth best group thirds, it was just enough for the eighth finals, which the Eastern Europeans were then able to win against Sweden. At the EURO 2016 in France, Ukraine still disappointed its fans, losing all three group games against Germany (0-2), Northern Ireland (0-2), Poland (0-1) and even scoring.
After four European Championship games, yellow-blue scores six goals in the current competition. = = References = = = = External links = = * Official website Oleksandr Zinchenko (Manchester City) and Artem Dovbyk (SK-Dnipro-1) each shot a booth.

The British needed something to fight the Germans. The DFB team did well in the initial minutes and also had the first chance to lead by free kick (10th, Havertz). Germany remained dynamic and energetic until the Three Lions booked their first opportunities through Sterling and Maguire (16, 17). The national team of Gareth Southgate came into play better, but had no breakthrough in the final period. Timo Werner, who failed at Pickford (32nd), forgave the best chance of the guests. With the break whistle, Kane forgave freestanding to Neuer, because Hummels could save in the utmost need (45. +2). After the change of sides, Havertz tested the English valet with a hammer, who steered the leather over the crossbar (48th). The eagle bearers were the better team at first. Nothing came from the British, but the lion elf did not create any more bullet possibilities. Then the English came once too easily through the German defence and went through Sterling with 1:0 in the lead (75th). The biggest difference in Wembley was the efficiency – Müller ran alone towards Pickford and gave away the huge opportunity to 1:1 (81st). On the other side the Three Lions cleared the score with the 2:0 of the previous unlucky Kane (86th).
The Southgate team is still unbeaten at the European Championships and still without a goal. After the three group games against Croatia (1:0), Scotland (0:0) and the Czech Republic (1:0), the group victory was established. Against Germany, the box also remained clean in the eighth finals. It was the first win in a European Championship knockout round for the Three Lions after 1996. At the same time, the 2-0 victory over the DFB team was the first European Championship victory after a regular season in a knockout phase. The World Championship winner 1966 failed five years ago in the European Championship eighth finals on Iceland (1:2).
With only four tournament goals after four games at the EURO, the island kickers do not stand for offensive fireworks, although the quality is just in the offensive. Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) scored three goals. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) scored his first goal against the Germans. The 26-year-old assailant Sterling is only the second English player to score the first three goals in a major tournament for his nation. Previously, only Gary Lineker was able to do so at the 1986 World Cup.
Locking or injuries are not known. The fourth world championship can be played against Ukraine in best squad.

The English national team is favourites against Ukraine to move into the next round of the European Championship. Contrary to expectations, the Three Lions are the best team in the EURO defensive so far and still without a goal. The world class occupied offensive, however, only scored four goals in four European Championship games. Coach Southgate’s much-criticized defensive tactics have worked well so far. The yellow-blues have caught themselves in the eighth-final match against Sweden after a weak preliminary round and are in a European Championship quarter-final for the first time. But the Red Card for the Scandinavians certainly also played a big part in the Eastern Europeans. Otherwise, it would most likely have come to the penalty thriller. We guess that after the success over the Germans, the British will not let themselves be taken into the semi-finals and will win sovereignly in Rome against an allegedly much weaker opponent from Ukraine.
