Will the Eredivisie top scorer score again?

A Dutch-Turkish duel is on the agenda on the last matchday of the Europa League with Twente against Besiktas and there is a prediction from the betting base. The hosts have to play for victory if they are at least to make it to the intermediate round.

The guests are also fighting to stay in the competition. They are currently in 24th place and would therefore have the last ticket for the intermediate round in the bag.

For the clash between Twente and Besiktas, the prediction is for a goal by Sem Steijn on the home side. You can find odds for the prediction at Winamax, where a bonus is also waiting for new customers!

Twente – Statistics & current form

Enschede have been weak at home in the Europa League. After three home league games in the competition, the “Tukkers” are still waiting for their first three points (0-1-2). Their offense in particular has not been convincing at home. They have not managed more than one goal.

Since the defense is comparatively secure at the same time, the games at the Grolsch Veste are low scoring. None of the three EL home games of the third of the past season of the Eredivisie ended with more than two goals. Now, however, the tip for more than two goals is equally applicable to the duel between Twente and Besiktas.

Given the situation in the table, we can expect an open encounter, as both teams need a win. This should not lead to a lack of scoring opportunities, especially since both attacking lines impressed on the last matchday. Twente scored three goals in their win in Malmö and the Turks beat Bilbao 4-1.

What’s more, there are always plenty of goals in the away team’s matches. On average, there are 4.1 and only one of the seven league games in the Europa League has not ended with more than two goals. Twente has room for improvement in the Erdivisie

In the Eredivisie, however, coach Joseph Oosting’s team have not impressed recently. Three of their last five league games have ended in defeat for Twente. Another shortcoming of the hosts in the Europa League is that they do not defend well when they are in the lead. The footballers from Enschede scored the first goal twice, but in each case missed a hat-trick.

Besiktas – Statistics & current form

The players from the Bosporus are inconsistent away from home. Strong performances like the win against Lyon alternate with weak performances like the 4-0 defeat at Ajax Amsterdam. In offense, the hopes of the 16-time Turkish champions lie with Ciro Immobile, among others.

The Italian moved to Istanbul last summer after eight seasons in the Lazio Rome shirt, and the striker is playing as accurate as ever for his new employer. Immobile has scored ten goals in 17 games in the Turkish league, making him the top scorer in the Besiktas Park lineup.

Besiktas relies on Rafa Silva in the EL

In the Europa League, however, Rafa Silva is particularly strong. The Portuguese already has five goal involvements (two goals and three assists) and, with this haul, is following in the footsteps of Cenk Tosun, who, in the 2017/18 season, has the most successful record of any Besiktas player in the Champions League with six goal involvements to date in a European season.

Moreover, he is currently more efficient than Immobile: the former RB Leipzig player has scored in four of the last seven competitive games, while the Italian has only scored once in this period.

For coach Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer, it is only his second game in the role, having taken over the job in the sixth of the last Süper Lig edition in the middle of this month. His debut also took place in the Europa League last week and was very pleasing from his point of view, with a clear 4-1 victory against Athletic Bilbao. However, the dress rehearsal against Antalyaspor in the league last weekend was only partially successful with a 1-1 draw.

Besiktas score twice?

In view of the offensive upswing, however, the prediction of more than one goal by the guests also seems promising for the clash between Twente and Besiktas. The prediction is supported by the home side’s recent lack of solidity in defense, which has conceded nine goals in the last four competitive games.

Twente – Besiktas Direct comparison / H2H record

The teams face each other for the first time. Furthermore, the home side have never kept a clean sheet against a Turkish club (3-1-5). In contrast, the “Black Eagles” have lost five of their six away games against a Dutch club.

Twente – Besiktas Tip

In the showdown between Twente and Besiktas, our prediction is that Sem Steijn will score for the home side. The striker is currently very efficient in front of the opposing box. The 23-year-old has scored in three of his last four competitive games, and with the loss of fellow forward Sam Lammers through injury, he is currently particularly important in attack.
A glance at the domestic league shows just how strong he has been this season. He leads the Eredivisie scoring charts with 15 goals in 18 league games! Moreover, the situation in the table suggests an open game, which should give Steijn plenty of chances to score his next goal, especially since the visitors have the sixth-weakest defense!
