Do Spurs stop their slight downward trend?
Tottenham Hotspur took 21 points from a possible 27 in their first nine league games under Antonio Conte. Then, however, Spurs first lost the London derby against Chelsea 2-0, before a home game against Southampton also ended in a 3-2 defeat during the week. It was the first time since the coaching change that the Lilywhites have lost two consecutive league games.
Now it is a matter of immediately stopping this downward trend for the traditional London club. After all, in league play they are still lacking the decisive points towards the top places. Nevertheless, in the run-up to the clash between Tottenham and Wolverhampton, the odds are clearly in favour of Spurs.
Wolves have been very strong recently. However, after 13 out of a possible 15 points from five consecutive games, they were first eliminated in the FA Cup against Norwich last week, before also losing the league match against Arsenal with 0:1. Accordingly, it is difficult to make a prediction on the outcome of Tottenham v Wolverhampton.
Instead, we are betting on a maximum of two goals in this clash. That’s the most goals scored in any of their last three Premier League encounters.
Tottenham – Statistics & current form
Tottenham Hotspur secured the services of long-time Wolverhampton success coach Nuno Espírito Santo ahead of the 2021/22 season. A gamble that did not work out. Because the Portuguese had five defeats in the first ten league games, those responsible pulled the ripcord early on.
The Portuguese was on the bench twice this season against his former club Wolverhampton. Firstly, Spurs won 1-0 at the Molineux Stadium in league action before eliminating Wolves on penalties in the League Cup as well.
21 points from a possible 33 under Antonio Conte
Now, the Lilywhites could be in line for a third win over the Wanderers in the 2021/22 season, but this time Santo’s successor Antonio Conte would have to be responsible for it. Under the eccentric Italian, there was a total of 21 points out of a possible 33.
This put Spurs back in the race for the European starting places. However, even the new coach was not able to lead the Londoners completely back to success, which is why they made further adjustments on the transfer market in the winter: Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski came from Juventus Turin. In return, however, former jewel Dele Alli, among others, left the club on a free transfer, while Antonio Conte also criticised the loans of Tanguy Ndombélé and Giovani Lo Celso.
Won only one of last four home games against Wolverhampton
Spurs have also had a mixed week of late. Conte’s eleven managed to solve the compulsory task against Brighton in the FA Cup. In the league, however, they suffered a bitter 3-2 defeat against Southampton despite leading 2:1.
Overall, the Lilywhites continue to lack consistency, which is why it is surprising that the Londoners are so heavily favoured going into this home game.
Predicted Tottenham line-up:
Lloris – Reguilón – Davies – Romero – Sánchez – Royal – Winks – Bentacur – Son – Kulusevski – Kane

Wolverhampton – Statistics & current form
Wolverhampton Wanderers returned to England’s top flight in the summer of 2018 after a six-year absence and an interim drop into the third tier. Nuno Espírito Santo, who achieved this promotion as champions of the Championship, subsequently re-established the three-time English champions in the Premier League.
Instead of fighting against relegation in the lower third of the table, Santo even led Wolves to the quarter-finals of the Europa League in 2020. Successes that aroused desires, which is why Tottenham struck last summer.
Lost only eight of their 22 league games
The Wanderers, meanwhile, stayed true to their line and brought in a new Portuguese coach to the team, which traditionally features a lot of Portuguese players and was also strengthened this winter by the Portuguese Chiquinho.
Under Bruno Lage, the upward trend of the team from the English West Midlands continued. In total, Wolves have only lost eight of their 22 league games and can therefore continue to hope to be involved in international competition again in the 2022/23 season.
The second best defence in the Premier League
For that endeavour, of course, an away win at Spurs would be worth its weight in gold, which could also immediately put the recent defeat to Arsenal behind them. Before the 0:1 defeat against the Gunners, the Wanderers were celebrating a small flight of fancy in league play with 13 out of a possible 15 points.
It is striking that in ten of the last twelve league games involving Wolves, a maximum of two goals were scored. This underlines the defensive compactness of the club, which, however, is mostly at the expense of the offensive. However, it is all the more interesting to bet on less than 2.5 goals for Tottenham against Wolverhampton.

Tottenham – Wolverhampton Direct comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 51 – 21 – 29
There have been a total of 101 meetings between the two teams so far and with 51 wins, the Spurs lead the head-to-head comparison in all form. The first leg also went 1-0 to the Lilywhites, but they have only won one of their last four home games against Wolves (one draw, two defeats).
Tottenham – Wolverhampton Tip
An important factor on which our Tottenham vs Wolverhampton betting tip is based is the defensive stability of the Wanderers, who have conceded just 17 goals in 22 league games. With Spurs superstar Harry Kane still struggling to find the back of the net with just five goals from 20 league games, Wolves, who have lost just one of their last four away games at Spurs, could come away with the points in this one too.
So we see a lot of value in betting that it won’t be too high-scoring between the two clubs. We recommend betting on less than 2.5 goals, especially as none of their last three encounters in league play resulted in more goals.
