Tottenham’s frustration against the bottom of the league?

With Tottenham v Leicester hinting at a high-scoring match from a statistical angle. Since the visitors’ return to the British top flight in 2014, 63 goals have been scored in their encounters.

Only Arsenal v Liverpool topped that number in the Premier League during that period, with 64 goals. The home side will also be coming in with a broad chest. Along with Manchester City, they are the only team still unbeaten.

The visitors, on the other hand, have not yet won a single match this season and are bottom of the table. For the clash between Tottenham and Leicester, the prediction includes a home win by two goals or more.

Tottenham – Statistics & current form

The “Lilywhites” have won their past six home games in league action and will therefore be looking to the home bonus. They have not yet had a prolonged run of victories at their current stadium.

At the previous home venue at White Hart Lane, again, you have to look back to the period between November 2016 and May 2017 to discover a longer sequence of successes on home soil with 14 trebles in a row at the time.

Kane is particularly looking forward to City

The Londoners will also be looking to Harry Kane. The Briton has already marked five goals again and against Leicester he likes to run on extra. He has already scored 19 goals against the “Foxes” – against no other team it is more!

What’s more, with 17 goals against City in the Premier League, Kane is only just behind Alan Shearer, who currently holds the record in the division for the most goals against any one team (20 goals against Leeds).

Given his fondness for opponents and his recent strong form, betting on another goal by Kane in the clash between Tottenham and Leicester is also worth considering for coach Antonio Conte’s side.

However, Son Heung-min’s current scoring prowess is in need of improvement. Last season’s joint top scorer has already fired 17 shots on goal this season, but he has so far failed to score.

No other player in the Premier League has such a high number of shots without scoring!

Spurs conceded an unnecessary defeat in the top flight recently
The two-time champions of the country have already competed in the Champions League this week. They suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sporting Lisbon.

However, the defeat was very unfortunate: both goals were scored in the 90th minute and the eight-time FA Cup winners were at least equal from an objective point of view.

Predicted line-up of Tottenham:
Lloris – Dier – Lenglet – Romero – Emerson Royal – Bentancur – Hojbjerg – Sessegnon – Son – Richarlison – Kane

Leicester – Statistics & current form

The “Foxes” are still waiting for their first three-pointer this season after six matchdays. The last time they went seven matchdays without a win at the start of a season in the country’s top division was in the 1983/84 season.

The extent of the false start is therefore historic. And there are no signs of improvement, with five consecutive defeats in the last five rounds.

For Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers, it is now the longest losing streak in his career as a manager in the Premier League, Championship and Scottish Premiership.

Leicester can’t manage leads

One of the team’s problems is their lack of cleverness to actually win a game after taking a lead. In 2022, the visitors have instead conceded 24 points after taking an interim lead.

No team in the Premier League tops this enormous number of lost points, and in the current edition of the division Leicester are already ahead again in this ranking with eight lost points.

The coming game will also be a special one for Jamie Vardy. The striker will have made 277 appearances for Leicester and will be the sole record holder for the most Premier League appearances for the 2016 champions.

Currently, he still has to share this title with the departing former goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

More than two goals by the home side?

The fact that things are not going well defensively either can be explained, among other things, by the departure of Wesley Fofana.

The French U23 international has been under contract with league rivals Chelsea for two matchdays and his departure has further weakened an already shaky defence.

With that in mind, the odds on the home side scoring more than two goals against the 2021 FA Cup winners in the clash between Tottenham and Leicester are even better.

Predicted Leicester line-up:
Ward – Ndidi – Evans – Thomas – Justin – Maddison – Soumare – Tielemans – Barnes – Iheanacho – Daka

Tottenham – Leicester Direct comparison / H2H record

The home side have won their last three games against the three-time League Cup winners. However, they have never been victorious four times in a row against their upcoming opponents in their history.

Last season’s eighth-placed side can also take little heart from their away record in this fixture: Four of the five most recent visits to Spurs have ended in defeat for City (1-0-4).

The defeats have always been heavy: the visitors have conceded at least three goals in each of the defeats in this review! This fact also makes the betting odds between Tottenham and Leicester on many goals from the Londoners interesting.

Tottenham – Leicester Tip

In the clash of Tottenham and Leicester, the tip aims for a home win with at least two goals difference.

The hosts are still unbeaten and very strong at home. The visitors, on the other hand, are bottom of the table and have always lost away from home.

They have conceded the majority of their goals away from home – only Bournemouth have conceded more goals in their away games. The recent departure of Fofana has also weakened the defence.

The prediction is supported by the statistics: in three of Leicester’s past four guest games at Tottenham, the prediction would have been crowned with success.
