Sweden vs. Spain Tip & Odds, 02.09.2021 – 20:45 – World Cup Qualification Europe
For both football nations, the European Championship has just ended and the World Cup qualification is already underway. The World Cup is already on the agenda next year and both teams have ambitions to be there in Qatar.
The Tre Kronor have only completed two qualifying games in group B and lastly left nothing burning in Kosovo at the end of March. The Furia Roja has one more game and one more counter on the possession side. The European semi-finalist also had the last international qualifying game against Kosovo and won at home against the underdog.
For the Iberians, it is now a matter of defending first place in the group (7 points) and of flashing the Scandinavians (6 points) in the Friends Arena in Solna, Sweden. The European Championship match between Spain and Sweden ended scorelessly about 10 weeks ago. Directly on the first day of the game, both national teams met in Group E for the start.
A look at the Sweden – Spain odds of the online betting operators reveals that the bookmakers see the southern Europeans as the favourites. The tip on Spain is rewarded with odds averaging around 1.65. But which bets offer themselves as alternatives and are perhaps more promising in the end?

The Swedish national team did justice to the leading role in Kosovo and set the course with a 1-0 victory after 12 minutes by Ludwig Augustinsson. Ten minutes before the break tea, Alexander Ishak increased to 2-0 (35th). In the second period, Sebastian Larsson’s 3-0 victory in the World Cup qualifying game (70th) was decided after a penalty shootout. The Andersson-Elf thus remains without conceding after a 3-0 away win. In the opening game against Georgia at home, the Tre Kronor also won 1-0.
The EURO 2021 started with the first game against Spain (0-0) from a Swedish perspective. This was followed by two victories against Slovakia (1:0) and Poland (3:2). The Scandinavians even won the group ahead of Spain, which had only five points in the account after three games. In the sixteen final, Sweden quickly destroyed the good preliminary round and lost to Ukraine 1-2 after extra time.
After two missed finals in 2010 and 2014, the 2018 World Cup in Russia was once again a highlight for the small country. The Swedish national team even performed better than at the 2021 European Championships. It was only in the quarter-finals that the Tre Kronor finished 0-2 against England. In the group stage, there were two victories against South Korea (1:0) and Mexico (3:0). Only the comparison with Germany was lost due to a last-minute goal (1:2). In the round of the last 16 teams, Sweden eliminated Switzerland (1-0).
The four qualifying goals were scored by four different players – Sebastian Larsson, Alexander Ishak, Ludwig Augustinsson and Viktor Claesson.
After 13 years and 133 international A games as well as five participation in European and World Championships, Captain Sebastian Larsson announced his retirement from the national team. Even before the 36-year-old Marcus Berg and right-wing defender Mikael Lustig announced their resignation.
Recent Games from Sweden
Sweden: 3 wins – 1 draw – 1 defeat

Luis Enrique’s national team was able to enjoy home advantage over Kosovo, but did not quite achieve a good result like Sweden. In the Estadio de La Cartuja, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres made a 2-0 breakaway with their double strike (34th, 36th). After the side change the Iberians made it exciting again, because they were inattentive – 1:2 Besar Halimi (70th). On the other side, Gerard Moreno scored head-to-head for Spain five minutes later to score 3-1 (75th). The 2010 World Champion came only mediocrely into the World Cup quali with a disappointing 1-1 home game against Greece. With the 2:1 victory in Georgia and the threesome against Kosovo, the southern Europeans are back on track.
The European Championship this summer was decent with the semi-final entry. They missed the final against the European champion Italy in the penalty shootout. In all knockout games, the Furia Roja never came to victory after 90 minutes. In the quarter-finals against Croatia, extra time was needed (5:3) and in the quarter-finals they won against Switzerland after penalty shootouts. Even the group phase was not victorious with the first two European Championship games against Sweden (0-0) and Poland (1-1) after 90 minutes. Only in the last preliminary round game against Slovakia did Spain convince with a 5-0 victory and therefore made it one lap further.
The World Championship three years ago in Russia ran similarly and even worse with the eighteen-final out against the host after penalty shootouts. In the group stage, there were only two divisions against Portugal (3:3) and Morocco (2:2). The only victory was against underdog Iran (1:0).
The six qualifying goals were scored by Dani Olma and Ferran Torres with two goals each. Gerard and Alvaro Morata come to a gate.
Latest Games of Spain
Spain: 3 wins – 1 draw – 1 defeat
2 wins Sweden – 2 draws – 4 wins Spain
Spain’s national team may be the favourites for the World Cup qualifying match in Sweden, but as the last match at the European Championship a few weeks ago between the two nations showed, a close match is to be expected. In addition, the Tre Kronor started with two wins in qualifying and is on the back of the Southern Europeans.
The Furia Roja has played one more game in Group B and also recorded two full successes. Previously, however, there was a weak 1-1 against Greece in their own stadium right at the start of the World Cup quali. The Enrique elf is definitely vulnerable at the moment and the Scandinavians also have what it takes to hurt them in front of a local backdrop.
We are guessing a torrid international game in Solna and a very close win for the Iberians. Personally, we tend more towards the former tip. Accordingly, we recommend the Under 2.5 Goals betting. The tip forecast wins if no more than two goals are scored in the World Cup qualifying match between Sweden and Spain. The quotation for this is slightly more than 1.60 on average. Similar odds hold the online bookies for the tip Spain wins ready.
Bet tip Bundesliga trend: Under 2.5 goals (Less than 2.5)
