Will the Toffees remain unbeaten again?
Everton FC are still on the road to redemption and have found their way back to winning ways after a poor start to the season. Head coach Frank Lampard’s side have not lost any of their last six competitive games since losing to AVFC on matchday two of the Premier League.
That winning streak is set to continue against the Saints. Everton go into Monday night’s encounter as slight underdogs. Surprisingly, Southampton FC have lost three of their last four league games. There were even two consecutive 1-0 defeats for the Saints before the international break.
Betting enthusiasts who still want to take a chance on the hosts from the English port city in Southampton vs. Everton can more than double their stake if the Saints are successful – especially at bookmakers without tax.
Southampton have won five of their last six home games against Everton. The Saints will therefore also be confident going into Saturday’s game, looking to secure treble points in the league for the first time since August 2022.
Southampton – Statistics & current form
The Saints have had a mixed start to the season so far, languishing in mid-table. Because they missed two points in a row in the English top flight, Southampton FC slipped down to 14th place before the international break. The lead over the relegation places is currently only three points.
That makes Saturday’s game against Everton all the more important. If they are successful, head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team will not only overtake their upcoming opponents, but in the best possible scenario they could even finish in single digits in the table. The home advantage at St Mary’s is particularly encouraging.
The Saints have won seven of their last nine league games at home against the Toffees. This was also the case last season, when Hasenhüttl’s team won 2-0 against Everton FC. If the next win is on the cards, Southampton vs. Everton odds of 2.20 are available for a bet on the hosts from the southern English port city.
Home strength the Saints’ showpiece
Last season, Southampton FC posted a record of 6-7-6 at St Mary’s at league level. Just how strong the Saints are at home has already been felt by Chelsea this season. The Saints beat Chelsea 2-1 to record their first and so far only home win of the season.
In order to win the match against the Toffees, Southampton will have to work on their attacking play this weekend. Since the win against CFC, the 14th-placed team in the Premier League has not scored a goal. Only twice in the Hasenhüttl era has there been a prolonged goal drought – in December 2020 and September 2021.
Against the Toffees, only two players will be missing from the Saints’ ranks through injury. Romeo Lavia and Valentino Livramento are the only two players currently in Southampton’s hospital.
Predicted Southampton line-up:
Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Salisu, Perraud; Ward-Prowse, Diallo; Djenepo, Aribo, Edozie; Adams

Everton – Statistics & current form
After starting problems, Everton FC have got back on track in the Premier League, going unbeaten in their last five fixtures. Because only one of these five league games was won, the Toffees “only” climbed up to 13th place in the table. Of particular importance was the most recent result before the international break.
With the 1-0 win against WHU, Lampard celebrated his first victory in the English top flight as head coach of the Toffees and was able to breathe a little easier. Against the Saints, the former “Three Lions” midfielder is nevertheless still under pressure to score.
The performances of the defence were particularly praiseworthy before the international break. Neither against Liverpool nor against West Ham was a goal conceded. The last time Everton went three PL games in a row without conceding a goal was in March 2021. Curiously, the Toffees also beat Southampton 1-0 on that occasion.
Everton plagued by away woes
Betting on a Toffees win this time, however, comes with a lot of risk. Season-to-date, Everton have lost nine of their last 13 away games at league level. It would therefore not be at all surprising if the negative trend continues at St. Mary’s. Especially as Everton have lost their last two league games at the Saints anyway.
After three away games in the English top flight this season, Lampard’s side have a record of 0-2-1, with the Toffees scoring at least once in each of those three matches. A goal against the Saints is therefore also likely.
Lampard will have to do without a total of five players for this weekend’s encounter due to injury. Jordan Pickford is fit again and returns to the squad. Calvert-Lewin, on the other hand, is still a big question mark.
Predicted Everton line-up:
Pickford; Coleman, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Gueye, Onana, Iwobi; Gray, Maupay, Gordon
Last games played by Everton:
Premier League
18/09/2022 – Everton 1 – 0 West Ham
03/09/2022 – Everton 0 – 0 Liverpool FC
31/08/2022 – Leeds 1 – 1 Everton
27/08/2022 – Brentford 1 – 1 Everton
Carabao Cup
24/08/2022 – Fleetwood 0 – 1 Everton
Southampton – Everton Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Southampton and Everton meet for the 108th time in total. The Toffees currently lead the head-to-head comparison against Southampton with a record of 51-23-32. An average of 2.73 goals per game has been scored in the 107 matches between the two clubs so far. However, bets on Over 2.5 goals have only paid off in one of the last five encounters.
In the last four league encounters between the two clubs, the team with home advantage has prevailed. That was the case last season, when Everton won the first-leg match 3-1 at home. That was replaced by a 2-0 defeat at St Mary’s in the second leg.
Southampton – Everton Tip
The Saints are out to make amends after their mini-crisis and will be looking to score three points in their match against the Toffees. The home advantage comes in handy for Southampton. Not only because the visitors have hardly been convincing away from home, but also because the Saints have won seven of their last nine home games against Everton.
This time, too, a win for the southern English club cannot be ruled out. The last time Southampton played at St Mary’s, it was a 2-1 win over the London Blues just under a month ago. Everton, on the other hand, picked up just one point in their last away fixture and have gone without a PL win away from home for a fifth successive season.
Although the Saints did not show the best performances on the last two matchdays, the results away from home should not be overrated. Already last season, Southampton picked up far more points at St. Mary’s than on foreign soil. We therefore think it is obvious to bet on the hosts when it comes to Southampton vs Everton.
