Slovakia vs. Spain Tips & Quotas, 23.06.2021 – 18:00
The Slovak and Spanish national football teams will meet on Wednesday evening, 23.06.2021 at 6 pm, at the Olimpico de la Cartuja in Seville on the 3rd day of the European Championships Group E. The repertoire had to give in to Sweden last Friday and missed the premature jump into the quarter-finals. The Furia Roja did not get past a draw against Poland one day later in Seville, and is therefore still waiting for the first victory in the European Championships. The group is led by Sweden with four points, Slovakia ranks second (3 points), Spain third (2) and Poland last (1).

Slovaks were the better team against Sweden in the first round and had 61 percent ball possession. Overall, however, it never really became dangerous. The national team of Stefan Tarkovic had only three qualifications and the Tre Kronor came to two safe attempts. After the break tea it didn’t take a minute before Isak had the first real chance of the game – Skriniar jumped just in between (46th). Both teams were now more agile and the Scandinavians in particular had a good shot opportunity due to Augustinsson, which destroyed Slovak Keeper Dubravka (60th). Strong Isak then initiated the pass, which led to the penalty for Sweden. Previously, the midfielder of San Sebastian gave two good opportunities for leadership (67th, 71st). Leipzigs Forsberg turned the penalty into 1-0 for Sweden (77th) in the final phase. The repertoire was opposed to the imminent defeat, but only came to a safe shot in the aftermath time by Kucka (90th +5).
Due to the defeat against Sweden, the Tarkovic-Elf did not gold the opening victory against Poland (2:1) and thus missed the early entry into the European Championship eighth final. For the repertoire it is only the second EURO after 2016. Five years ago Slovakia survived the group stage after a victory against Russia (2:1) and a draw against England (1:1). The opening match against Wales was lost (1:2). In the round of the last 16 teams, the trip was over for the Slovaks (0-3 against Germany).
Slovakia is playing a mixed football year in 2021 and only scored the first bankruptcy against Sweden this year. The general EM samples against Bulgaria (1:1) and Austria (0:0) were only partially successful. In the World Cup qualifying round, Russia was last beaten in March, scoring only one point each against the mini-nations Cyprus and Malta.
Against Spain, Denis Vavro will be missing. SD Huesca’s central defender has been infected with corona and is in quarantine. Midfielder Ivan Schranz probably also has to stay on hold (ankle problems).

Luis Enrique’s national team surprisingly started with Gerard from the beginning and shooting star Ferran Torres had to sit on the bench. The move started. The triple European champion went through Morata in the 25th minute with a 1-0 lead. Gerard kicked off the goal with his goal shot, which the opponent’s goalkeeper just bounced off. Previously, the Iberians had no good chance. Poland recorded the first opportunity of the match through Klich (6.). Before half-time, the Poles had a good chance after a free kick from Gerard (34th) – Swiderski failed first from a short distance (35th) and then at the left post (43rd). Lewandowski slapped the bouncer in the arms of goalkeeper Unai Simon. In the second 45 minutes, the Bayern-Stürmer scored with the first chance directly to 1-1 per capita (54th). On the other hand, the southern Europeans quickly had the opportunity to lead again, but Gerard scored a penalty (58th). The „home team“ then gained a tooth, even if the Spaniards could not convince completely – Morata failed due to Poland’s closing man Szczesny (65th). Morata struck the biggest opportunity shortly before the end of the game, which was stopped again by the Polish Keeper (84th). It stayed 1:1.
The Enrique-Elf played for the second time after the zero for the opening match against Sweden. After the decent two friendly matches before the final round of the European Championships against Portugal (0:0) and Lithuania (4:0) a disappointing start of Furia Roja. Nevertheless, the Iberians have been unbeaten since ten international matches and still have a victory in their own hands in the quarter-finals.
The EURO 2016 was a pure disappointment with the end in the quarter-finals as defending champion. After victories against the Czech Republic and Turkey, there were two bankruptcies in the last group game against Croatia and in the eighth final (0-2 against Italy).
With the exception of the Corona infected Sergio Busquets (FC Barcelona), Spain can compete against Slovakia in the best squad. However, the defensive midfielder could be an option again in the short term, as he has been quarantined since 06.06 and has the duration of two prescribed quarantine weeks behind him.

Spain is a clear favourite against Slovakia for victory in the last group match. However, Furia Roja was already in the favourite role in the first two European Championships and was unable to live up to it. Moreover, Slovaks do not seem to be easily defeated by this EURO. After the surprising opening victory against Poland, the repertoire lost to Sweden, but held up well for a long time. The Tarkovic elf scores a draw to move into the next round. The Iberians would then be out and therefore need the threesome, otherwise the tournament is over. We predict that the Enrique Elf will take advantage of the “home advantage“ in Seville and win Group E’s third game. Spain is making progress and Slovakia must tremble as perhaps one of the fourth-best group thirds still moves into the quarter-finals.
