Will Sevilla maintain their home form against Barcelona?
Catch-up game in La Liga: On Tuesday (21:30), Spain’s Primera Division will see an exciting clash between Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona.
The match was originally scheduled for Matchday 4, which took place at the beginning of September, but due to the disputes between La Liga and the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL at the time regarding the release (and timely return) of the South American internationals, this match was postponed along with a few others – now the cracker will be made up.
There is a lot at stake in terms of the standings, so it is no surprise that the home side are slight favourites going into this top-of-the-table clash, given the current form of both clubs.
You can look forward to this spectacle so close to Christmas, as both will be playing with their sights open and thus aiming for victory. Sevilla can move to within three points of league leaders Real Madrid with one, Barça can jump (temporarily) to a Champions League spot. It is not easy to make a three-way bet on Sevilla vs. Barcelona – for many reasons.
Sevilla – Statistics & current form
No wonder Sevilla FC are slight favourites against Barça: coach Julen Lopetegui’s side have already won a real top match on Saturday and have therefore been able to build up a lot of self-confidence. They won 2-1 at home against Atletico Madrid, which was an exclamation mark in the title fight.
Not only did Sevilla distance their CL rivals Atletico by eight points, but they are also staking their claim to the title. They are currently six points behind leaders Real Madrid. A win against Barça on Tuesday evening and they are only three points behind.
Those who believe in the Sevillanos’ next home win in their second home top game in three days will find betting odds of 2.45 for this tip ahead of Sevilla vs. Barcelona.
No home defeat yet: Sevilla a force at Sanchez Pizjuan
And as I said, there are good reasons to bet on Sevilla – far from the interesting odds. Sevilla have not only won three games in a row, but are also still undefeated at home – with an impressive record: the Sevillanos have won seven of their eight home games, with one draw. They have also only conceded seven goals so far.
So far, the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan has been a fortress. So it will be a tough job for FC Barcelona to take all three points at the Pizjuan – even though Barça managed to do just that ten months ago. Last season, the Blaugrana won 2-0 in Sevilla in February.

Barcelona – Statistics & current form
But FC Barcelona have also gained important self-confidence before the difficult guest game in Andalusia. After two games without a win (0:1 against Betis, 2:2 at Osasuna), Barça managed a small liberation against FC Elche, which, however, was very hard-fought and also missed by a hair.
Once again, the Catalans gave away a lead. Barça were supposedly leading 2:0, only to collapse within two minutes. Joker Nico Gonzalez, however, saved Barça the three immensely important points shortly before the end, which are extremely important for the crisis-ridden Catalans, not only in terms of their mental state, but of course also in terms of the table.
Barça’s win against Elche a “turning point” for the Blaugrana?
“A turning point” is how scorer Gonzalez described the liberating win, which gives an important boost in terms of confidence. Barça are three points behind fourth place, a win in Sevilla and they would jump to it – at least until champions Atletico play in Granada on Wednesday and unless the Rojiblancos themselves win their game.
If you believe that Barça will be the first team to take the Sanchez Pizjuan fortress, you can get odds of up to 3.00 on the win before the Sevilla vs Barcelona match. Betway currently offers these top odds. If you want to play at these exciting odds, we recommend the Betway bonus, because there is up to 100€ on the first two deposits.
However, given Barça’s meandering course this season and the young team that is on the pitch week in week out, an away win in Sevilla would of course be quite a coup.

Sevilla – Barcelona Tip
One side go into the game with three points, which almost feel like more, against Atletico in the bag, the other come to Andalusia with a liberating win against Elche. Making a prediction on Sevilla vs Barcelona is tricky – as it is a very tricky game.
Of course, there is a little more in Sevilla’s favour, such as: The Andalusians’ impressive home strength and, of course, Barcelona’s away weakness – the Blaugrana have only managed to win one of seven away games. In addition, the defence is very vulnerable; in ten of its last eleven league games, Barça has always conceded at least one goal.
But since Barça’s performance against Elche was much better than the result indicates, and since Sevilla have won their games with a lot of luck, our prediction for Sevilla vs. Barcelona is: There will be a draw in the top match. Both clubs should be able to live with that at the end of the day.
