Will the Blancos stop the Andalusians’ dream start?
Three games, three wins – that’s the record of reigning champions Real Madrid and reigning cup winners Betis Sevilla. It is therefore easy to identify the top match of the fourth matchday in Spain’s top division when it comes to the direct duel between the only two clubs who have not yet dropped any points.
The Royals have had remarkably little to gain against the Béticos at home in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The Madrilenians have been waiting for another home win against the Andalusians for five home games (three draws, two defeats). Nevertheless, in the run-up to the match between Real Madrid and Betis Sevilla, the odds are clearly in favour of the home side.
It is striking that the Verdes have by no means been setting off any offensive fireworks recently. In the 2-1 win over Mallorca and the recent 1-0 win over Osasuna, the Andalusians only had four shots on goal, three of which were on target. It should be all the more difficult against defensively strong Madrilenians.
We see the greatest value for Real Madrid against Betis Sevilla in betting on less than 2.5 goals. In the last three encounters between the two clubs, only one goal has been scored in total.
Real Madrid – Statistics & current form
Real Madrid not only secured their 35th national championship this summer, which extended their status as the Spanish record champions, but also won the Champions League for the 14th time in history.
The Blancos will now find it correspondingly difficult to repeat this feat in the 2022/23 season, especially as not only have the other top clubs in Europe upgraded their squad, but FC Barcelona have also launched a transfer offensive.
Winless in five home games against Betis Sevilla
Yet the Galactics came back from the summer break just perfect. A 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup was followed by three wins in a row to start the league. With nine points and 9:3 goals, the Merengues lead the table.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team could now shake off a direct rival, but for that to happen, the dry spell against the Béticos must come to an end. Real Madrid have failed to win any of their last five home games against Betis Sevilla (three draws, two defeats).
Especially defensively, the first eleven is still wanted
Meanwhile, the Royal side’s defence still needs to find its feet. In all three league games, Carlo Ancelotti rebuilt the central defence and is still tinkering with the first eleven. In addition, king transfer Aurélien Tchouameni still has to grow into the role of Casemiro.
However, with wonderkid Karim Benzema continuing to score at will, bettors still have little doubt that the Blancos will get their fourth treble in their fourth game in the top-of-the-table clash against the Verdes.

Betis Sevilla – Statistics & current form
In the summer of 2020, Manuel Pellegrini took over as Real Betis Balompié coach as the Béticos finished a highly complicated season in La Liga in just 15th place. The Chilean immediately turned around the traditional club, which won its first and only national championship in 1935.
The Verdes finished sixth in the league before sniffing the Champions League for a long time last season and eventually finishing fifth. They also won the Copa del Rey overall.
Cold-blooded use of chances
Milestones that the Europa League participant could now build on. In three league games of the still young season, nothing burned. The Verdes were the only team apart from Real Madrid to score the maximum nine points.
It was not only the goalscoring prowess of Borja Iglesias that impressed, who, with four goals from four league games, leads the La Liga scoring charts together with Robert Lewandowski. The reigning cup winner was also particularly convincing, scoring three goals from four shots on target in his last two league games.
Haven’t conceded a goal in five visiting Real Madrid games
The Andalusians will have to step it up a gear if they want to continue their winning streak away from home. With Elche, Mallorca and Osasuna having all been comparatively small opponents so far, Real Madrid’s bets on Betis Sevilla to win the next game are not in the best of hands.
But the Béticos certainly don’t need to hide either. Not only have they remained unbeaten in their last five matches at the Santiago Bernabéu, but they have also not conceded a goal.
Predicted line-up of Betis Sevilla:
Silva – Moreno – González – Felipe – Ruibal – Carvalho – Rodríguez – Juanmi – Fekir – Sánchez – Iglesias

Real Madrid – Betis Sevilla Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 67 – 26 – 27
With 67 wins from a total of 120 meetings, Real Madrid leads the direct comparison very clearly. However, at least in the Spanish capital itself, Betis Sevilla have recently become a fearsome opponent for the Merengues, who have not won, let alone scored, against the Béticos in five home La Liga games.
Real Madrid – Betis Sevilla Tip
When it comes to Real Madrid against Betis Sevilla, the prediction clearly goes to the Spanish record champions. However, the reigning cup winners will certainly not travel to the Bernabéu without a chance, where the Béticos have not lost five times in a row and have always remained without conceding a goal. Accordingly, it would be negligent to bet on a home win for the Blancos, who will also be facing the current second-placed team in the table.
Accordingly, it makes sense to go for the goal bet in this top match. Also in view of the fact that in the last three games between the two clubs just one goal was scored, the under bet makes a lot of sense.
