Dynamo Kyiv to pull off a sensation

The fourth qualifying round of the 2024/25 Champions League will see a do-or-die match between RB Salzburg and Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday. The home side won the first leg 2:0 and are therefore in a good starting position in the battle for the top flight. As a result, the Ukrainians face a mammoth task in Austria and will have to rise above themselves. Ahead of the Red Bull Salzburg v Dynamo Kiev clash, there are many reasons to back the home team to win

In our opinion, the odds for the Red Bull Salzburg vs Dynamo Kiev prediction should be a little closer together. The Ukrainians were by no means worse in the first leg and would even have deserved a point. In addition, they did not have the home advantage, so the game should be seen as an away match. For this reason, we expect the match to be quite similar and do not want to rule out a comeback by the visiting team

In our search for value, we have opted for the Red Bull Salzburg vs Dynamo Kiev betting tip X2. The Ukrainians are very unpleasant to play against and shine with their physical presence. In addition, the guests are very strong mentally and will fight until the last minute. Furthermore, the Ukrainian representative was able to keep up in the first leg and only failed to capitalize on their own chances. A point in Austria therefore does not seem so far-fetched

RB Salzburg – statistics & current form

Salzburg are one of the most successful clubs in Austria and have dominated the domestic Bundesliga at will over the past decade. Last season, however, they only managed to finish runners-up. As a result, Sturm Graz are seeded for the top flight, while the Red Bulls will have to go through the qualifying round. However, this is not a first, as the champions also had to take the detour via the CL qualifiers until 2021

Salzburg with one foot in the CL

For the Red Bulls, the journey to the Champions League began with a clash against FC Twente. There, Pepijn Lijnders’ team prevailed 5:4 and thus survived a real endurance test. However, not everything was positive, as the Austrians suddenly became careless when the score was 5:2 and almost lost the lead. Salzburg should therefore be a little more alert in the second leg against Dynamo Kiev and not let their opponents into the game in the first place.

A rough diamond is currently making a name for himself in Wals-Siezenheim. Moussa Kounfolo Yeo moved from FC Liefering to FC Salzburg in the summer of 2023 and made his professional debut in May at the age of 19. Since then, the Malian youngster’s career has exploded, as the midfielder is currently his team’s top scorer with seven points in his last five competitive matches. Salzburg can therefore look forward to the next super talent, who is likely to bring in some serious cash again

Salzburg is unstoppable

With 22 goals in the first seven competitive matches (Ø 3.14), Salzburg’s offense is in top form. In addition, Pepijn Lijnders’ team have not conceded a single goal and have been impossible to defend against so far. The Red Bulls have even scored at least twice in six of their seven games. This is primarily due to the fact that the Austrian representative’s players are very young and therefore carefree. The boys are really up for it and want to present themselves in the best possible light.

While Salzburg’s attacking play is clearly their strength, their defensive play is not yet as good as it should be. However, that is complaining at a high level, as the Austrians have only conceded seven goals (Ø 1.00). Nevertheless, Pepijn Lijnders’ team only kept a clean sheet three times, conceding at least one goal in 57% of matches. Five of the seven goals conceded were either at the start or at the very end of the game, so concentration problems could be the cause.

Predicted line-up of RB Salzburg:
Blaswich – Dedic, Piatkowski, Baidoo, Terzic – Bidstrup, Gourna-Douath, Kjaergaard – Dorgeles, Yeo, Gloukh

Dynamo Kyiv – Statistics & current form

Kiev secured their place in the Champions League qualifiers as Ukrainian runners-up. There, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team faced Partizan Belgrade, the Serbian runners-up. However, the Ukrainians easily prevailed with a total score of 9:2 and gave their opponents no chance. In the following round, Dynamo then defeated Glasgow Rangers 2:1 and knocked a real top-class team out of the competition. Will they be able to do the same against Salzburg?

Kiev with a good performance

The Ukrainians lost the first leg against RB Salzburg 0:2, but did not put in a bad performance. Over 90 minutes, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team were even on an equal footing and ultimately struggled to take their chances. In addition, the ball hit the Austrian goal twice, so that the flawless result could seem a little irritating. We therefore don’t want to write off the visitors just yet and expect a thrilling duel.

Vladyslav Vanat is one of the many Ukrainian talents who have come to the fore in recent years. The 22-year-old center forward even became the top scorer in the first Ukrainian league last season and thus aroused the interest of several larger clubs. However, he decided to stay and fight for the top flight with Dynamo Kiev. With four goals in just six appearances, he is once again one of his team’s key players this season

Kiev are difficult to defend against

The visiting team’s attacking power may not come close to that of the home side, but it is in a similar hemisphere. With 17 goals in seven competitive matches (average 2.43), Dynamo Kiev are difficult to stop and have only failed to score once. As a result, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team found the back of the net in 86% of their matches. This was even the case twice in five of the seven games. Will the Salzburg defense now be cracked?

While the Ukrainian offense is capable of scoring against any opponent, the defense is rarely able to prevent the opposing team from scoring. As a result, the visitors have only conceded twice this season and have conceded at least one goal in 71% of their matches. That could of course be a problem, especially against Red Bull Salzburg’s strong attacking line. Progression is therefore hanging by a thread.

Predicted line-up for Dynamo Kyiv:
Bushchan – Karavayev, Popov, Mykhavko, Dubinchak – Pikhalyonok, Brazhko, Shaparenko – Yarmolenko, Vanat, Kabaiev

RB Salzburg – Dynamo Kyiv head-to-head comparison / H2H result

The direct comparison is of little significance in this clash, as the first leg was the first meeting between the two teams and therefore a premiere. As Salzburg won the game 2:0, the Austrians are also favored for the second leg. In terms of play, however, the Ukrainians were able to keep up well and created three great chances. The Red Bull Salzburg vs Dynamo Kiev betting odds are therefore pointing towards a few goals

RB Salzburg – Dynamo Kiev betting tip

We recommend the odds for both teams to score between Red Bull Salzburg and Dynamo Kiev. Our recommendation can be explained quite simply, because two very offensively strong teams will meet here. In addition, after the 2-0 loss in the first leg, the visiting team will have to increase the risk and score the equalizer as quickly as possible. We can therefore very well imagine that the two teams will once again go toe-to-toe in the second leg.

Alternatively or additionally, we recommend the odds for over 2.5 goals in the match between Red Bull Salzburg and Dynamo Kiev. The visitors need at least two goals and will perform accordingly. On the other hand, Salzburg naturally have more quality and are unlikely to let the lead slip away. Both teams will therefore give each other absolutely nothing in this duel, because after all, it’s about participation in the Champions League
