Will the Red Bulls show character after the setback?
After 19 Bundesliga games in a row without a defeat, Leipzig’s streak was ended last weekend at Signal Iduna Park (13 wins, six draws). The Red Bulls were beaten 2-1 by Borussia Dortmund, leaving them three points behind Bayern. If the tip for the home win of the Saxons should not rise now also with RB Leipzig against Gladbach, that would be directly the next setback for the Rose team, which failed again also in the Champions League during the week.
Meanwhile, the guests from the Lower Rhine region have remained unbeaten in three league games in a row (two wins, one draw) and could now win two consecutive Bundesliga games for the first time since March 2022. However, when RB Leipzig face Gladbach, it should also be noted that the Foals have never managed to win a Bundesliga away game in eight previous visits to Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena (three draws, five defeats).
Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that things are not going too well for RBL at the moment. After the Red Bulls only conceded two goals in the first seven match days, they have now conceded three goals in the last two match days alone. In addition, they have conceded two goals in the cup and three goals in the premier league. This means that the Saxons have three defeats from their last five competitive games (two wins), in which they have conceded a total of nine goals.
We now expect a return to defensive values, which is why the Saturday evening game at the Red Bull Arena could be rather tactical and not too high-scoring. The lower main recommendation is for under 3.5 goals.
RB Leipzig vs. Gladbach prognosis AI
While we have our well-founded doubts about the home victory of the Red Bulls, who have lost three of their last five competitive games, the AI BETSiE coldly suggests betting on the home victory of the Saxons. The odds of 1.58 that Intertops offers for tip 1 suggest that the home side have a 63.3 percent chance of winning, which we consider to be very high.
Not so the BETSiE. In the case of RB Leipzig against Gladbach, the AI prognosis is so clearly in favor of Marco Rose’s team because the supercomputer calculates a probability of 73.2 percent for the home team to win. The associated value is correspondingly high.
Not uninteresting: with our tip on under 3.5 goals, the AI at least has very slight stomach pains. It calculates an expected goals value of 2.53 for RBL and 0.88 for the foals. Rounded up, that would be a 3:1, which would make our ticket burst, although the result would have to be negative for just one of the two clubs for us to be right as well.
RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
The 2024/25 season has been extremely mixed for RB Leipzig so far. At least they are only three points behind first place.
On the other hand, however, the Saxons joined an inglorious list during the week. As only the third Bundesliga club after Hamburger SV (2006/07) and VfB Stuttgart (2007/08), RB Leipzig lost the first four Champions League games of a season. In the league phase, the chances of advancing have thus dropped drastically. RBL is only ranked 32nd in the table and is already five points behind 24th place.
RB Leipzig with a strong home record
Now it is up to the Rose team, which has in fact only lost one of the last 20 Bundesliga games (13 wins, six draws), to show character against a Gladbach team in strong form. If the AI BETSiE has its way, the tip for the corresponding answer will be under a lucky star in the match between RB Leipzig and Gladbach. Despite the recent problems in defense, the Saxons still have the best defense in the Bundesliga, with only five goals against in nine league games.
On top of that, there are two impressive streaks. On the one hand, RBL has not lost any of the previous eight Bundesliga home games against the Foals (five wins, three draws). And on the other hand, the team of former Gladbach coach Marco Rose has also remained unbeaten in eleven Bundesliga home games in a row (eight wins, three draws). In these eleven home games, there were only three goals conceded overall and, believe it or not, a clean sheet eight times, which certainly justifies the clear favoritism of the Red Bulls.
Gladbach – Statistics & current form
Borussia Mönchengladbach have already ended a very sobering 2023/24 season in only 14th place and had much more planned for the new season. However, the result was a poor start, with only six points from the first six league games.
But then Gerardo Seoane’s team finally got their act together. The Foals picked up seven out of a possible nine points from their last three league games and climbed into the upper half of the table, where they now find themselves in ninth place. It is the best haul for the Lower Rhine side in exactly a year, when they also picked up seven out of nine points from three games in October and November 2023.
Gladbach were too pale away
Nevertheless, the odds at RB Leipzig against Gladbach now clearly speak against the Borussians winning any more points. Bookmaker Winamax, which by the way is currently also offering a €15 no-deposit free bet, is quoting 5.60 for an away win by the Foals, who have only won one of four Bundesliga away games this season (one draw, two defeats).
Moreover, the men from the Lower Rhine have only managed four away goals. Only Augsburg (two), Dortmund, Hoffenheim and Union Berlin (three each) scored even fewer goals on foreign soil, which in turn reinforces our bet that it shouldn’t be too goal-filled in the Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening.
Even Gladbach’s great strength, namely the danger in headers – no one scored more headed goals in 2024/25 than the Fohlenelf (five already) – will not be too much of an advantage against RBL after all. Only Freiburg have conceded even fewer league goals from headers (none at all) than the Saxons (only one).
RB Leipzig – Gladbach Direct comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 10 – 3 – 3
A total of 16 competitive matches have taken place between the two teams so far, and RB Leipzig lead the way with ten wins. At home in particular, the Saxons have never lost to Borussia Mönchengladbach in eight Bundesliga games (five wins, three draws). The Red Bulls have also won the last three duels against the Foals, all of them clean sheets.
RB Leipzig – Gladbach tip
The betting odds of the best bookmakers are remarkably clear in favor of RB Leipzig against Gladbach, which certainly makes sense in view of the Red Bulls’ long unbeaten streak of eleven Bundesliga home games (eight wins, three draws). However, the Rose XI are at a bit of a crossroads and, after three defeats in their last five competitive games (two wins), have yet to show how they deal with setbacks. Accordingly, the risk involved in betting on 1 is high, especially since the guests from the Lower Rhine region have not been beaten in three consecutive league games (two wins, one draw).
It is worth noting that RBL have kept a clean sheet eight times in their last eleven Bundesliga home games and have only conceded a total of three goals. Accordingly, the forecast for a Saturday evening game that is not too high-scoring is popular against Gladbach at RB Leipzig.
