Do the red bulls get some frustration off their chest?
Elf out of a possible 24 points and only eighth place are on record in the table for reigning runners-up RB Leipzig. In addition, they lost their third Champions League group match last week despite a strong performance. Things are really not running smoothly for the Saxons these days.
Now, however, the league’s bottom team, Greuther Fürth, is coming to the Red Bull Arena. The cloverleaf has only picked up a single point and travels to Saxony as a stark outsider. In the run-up to the match between RB Leipzig and Fürth, the odds are clearly in favour of the red bulls.
The Leipzig team has been particularly strong at home. Although they lost 1:4 against Bayern, the red bulls won all three other home games against Stuttgart, Hertha and Bochum with 13:0 goals. Accordingly, there is a lot of value to be found in the tip on RB Leipzig against Fürth that the Marsch eleven can shoot some frost off their souls.
We therefore recommend betting on RBL with an Asian handicap of -2.5, i.e. a win with at least a three-goal difference.
RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
RB Leipzig experienced an upheaval this summer. With Julian Nagelsmann, Dayot Upamecano and ultimately Marcel Sabitzer, the red bulls lost three important personnel to the German record champions Bayern Munich.
The Saxons themselves were not exactly squeamish in the transfer market and invested more than 100 million euros in transfer fees alone for adequate replacements. However, the runners-up have not yet been able to build on the successes of recent years.
Only two wins in the last nine official matches
Last time out, Leipzig held on sacrificially at Paris’ Prinzenpark and even led 2-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in the top flight, but ended up losing 3-2 in their third group game, which was the next disappointment for the 2020 Champions League semi-finalists.
In the league, meanwhile, they are in a disappointing eighth place after only three wins from eight league games. They are already eight points behind leaders Bayern. In fact, only two of the last nine competitive matches have been won (two draws, five defeats).
Won three of the four league home games with 13:0 goals
There are, however, two facts that make us confident that RB Leipzig will win at home against Fürth. Firstly, RBL has been extremely strong at home, at least in league play. They did suffer a 1:4 home defeat against FCB on matchday four. However, the other three home games were all won with a total of 13:0 goals.
And secondly: The Saxons have a knack for up-and-comers. Of the 21 games that Leipzig have played as a Bundesliga team against teams promoted from the 2nd Bundesliga, not a single game has been lost (18 wins, three draws). Without exception, every Bundesliga team has suffered its first defeat against a promoted team in the ninth match at the latest…

Fürth – Statistics & current form
Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth have won the German championship three times in 1914, 1926 and 1929. With the exception of the 2012/13 season, however, the Central Franconians have never been represented in the Bundesliga.
There, the cloverleaf, which has only won four of its 34 games during its only sojourn in the top flight of German football so far, is only in 53rd place in the eternal table. With the team already six points behind the relegation zone, the signs are once again pointing to immediate relegation.
The worst ever return by a team after eight match days
On the second matchday, Stefan Leitl’s team, which seems to be sitting firmly in the saddle despite being in 18th place, drew 1-1 at home against Bielefeld, who were shorthanded. However, this was followed by another six defeats in a row, which means that the cloverleaf has only one point out of a possible 24.
The Central Franconians also have the third weakest attack with only five goals from eight games and the second worst defence in the German football league with 20 goals conceded. This corresponds to the worst yield and goal difference ever achieved by a team in the Bundesliga after eight match days.
Six goals conceded in the first quarter of an hour already
With a view to the fact that the knot did not burst in the basement duel against fellow promoted Bochum, because the Central Franconians once again conceded a goal in the first quarter of an hour – the sixth in the current season (negative record) – there is really not much to be said for Fürth’s turnaround.
Predicted line-up of Fürth:
Funk – Willems – Viergever – Bauer – Meyerhöfer – Christiansen – Griesbeck – Dudziak – Tillmann – Leweling – Hrgota
Last matches played by Fürth:

10/16 2021 – Greuther Fürth 0 – 1 Vfl Bochum
10/01 2021 – 1. FC Köln 3 – 1 Greuther Fürth
09/24 2021 – Greuther Fürth 1 – 3 Bayern Munich
09/17 2021 – Hertha Berlin 2 – 1 Greuther Fürth
09/11 2021 – Greuther Fürth 0 – 2 Vfl Wolfsburg
RB Leipzig – Fürth Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 3 – 1 – 0
In the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons, both teams faced each other in the 2. Bundesliga. With three wins and one draw, RBL clearly leads the direct comparison. In the last three meetings, the red bulls have always scored at least two goals against the cloverleaf.
RB Leipzig – Fürth Tip
For RB Leipzig against Fürth, the prediction has to take into account the difference in class between the two teams. While the red bulls took nine of twelve possible points at home with 14:4 goals, the cloverleaf is still waiting for its first point on foreign grounds with 3:13 goals.
The Central Franconians also conceded most of their goals in the first quarter of an hour and now visit a team that has already made short work of three teams at home, Stuttgart (4-0), Hertha (6-0) and Bochum (3-0). There is a lot to be said for RBL overrunning Spielvereinigung as well.
We therefore recommend betting on a home win for the Saxons with at least a three-goal difference (AHC -2.5).
