The rematch of last year’s cup final
On the last matchday of the first half of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, there will be a rematch of the 2023 DFB Cup final. RB Leipzig beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in Berlin and could now record their third competitive match win in a row against SGE. In principle, the betting tip on a home win for the Red Bulls against Frankfurt is also under a good star. After all, RBL have not lost any of their last twelve Bundesliga home games this season (ten wins, two draws)
In addition, the Eagles have recently struggled away from home. Eintracht have lost all of their last four competitive matches away from home. That is twice as many defeats as in the first eleven away games of the 2023/24 season. However, a certain resilience cannot be denied to the Hessians, who have already picked up nine points in the Bundesliga this season after falling behind (two wins, three draws)
There is therefore not too much value to be found in the prediction of a home win for the Red Bulls at RB Leipzig against Frankfurt, especially as the bookmakers only offer low quotes below the 1.50 limit for betting tip 1 across the board. The home strength of the Saxons is certainly a factor. However, it should also be noted that RBL have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eleven competitive matches.
As a result, this rematch of the 2023 cup final could well be a high-scoring affair. Consequently, we find the greatest value in the bet that both teams will score
RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
RasenBallsport Leipzig celebrated the second major title in the club’s young history last summer when they successfully defended their DFB Cup title. However, a hat-trick is no longer possible. The Saxons already bowed out of the competition in the second round with a 1-0 away defeat in Wolfsburg.
However, the Red Bulls are at least still in the running in the other two competitions. In the Bundesliga, they are in fourth place after 16 games with 33 points out of a possible 48. Meanwhile, Real Madrid await in the round of 16 of the Champions League
No Bundesliga team has been unbeaten at home for as long as RB Leipzig
Marco Rose’s players, who incidentally have not lost any of their eight competitive matches against Eintracht Frankfurt (seven wins, one draw), have not lost in five consecutive games (four wins, one draw).
RBL have been particularly impressive at home in the Red Bull Arena. The Saxons have not lost any of their last twelve Bundesliga home games this season (ten wins, two draws). That is the longest active home streak of any team currently in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig have not kept a clean sheet in eleven competitive matches
Fittingly, the betting odds for RB Leipzig against Frankfurt are now clearly pointing towards the Red Bulls, who have the third-best offense in the Bundesliga with 38 goals and have also been very stable defensively for the most part. This is evidenced by the fact that they have conceded just 17 goals in the 16 games of the first half of the season so far.
However, it is also true that the Saxons struggled defensively time and time again in the final weeks before the winter break. The reigning DFB Cup winners have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eleven competitive matches. This is the longest run without a clean sheet since the Saxons were promoted to the Bundesliga.
Predicted line-up for RB Leipzig:
Frankfurt – Statistics & current form
For the Europa League winners of 2022, the 2022/23 season could have gone much better overall. Although SGE finished seventh in the final table, they still qualified for the UEFA Conference League, where a knockout clash with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise is on the program in the intermediate round in February.
In the DFB Cup, however, the Hessians missed the chance to win the cup for the sixth time in the club’s history against today’s opponents RB Leipzig in the final. The new season began with a new coach and a restructured squad
Promising new Eintracht signings in winter
In view of the fact that the Adler had to let Randal Kolo Muani go shortly before the transfer list closed, things have gone well so far in the first half of the season. With just four defeats from their first 16 league games, SGE are in sixth place and would have qualified for another European competition as things stand.
Moreover, the Hessians have now finally been able to reinvest the income from the Kolo Muani transfer. Three new signings – Nathaniel Brown, Sasa Kalajdzic and Donny van de Beek – were introduced during the winter break and could potentially help the team immediately
Frankfurt have already picked up nine points after trailing
The team from the Main metropolis is correspondingly difficult to assess, having recently lost four competitive matches in a row on foreign pitches, but was rather difficult to beat overall and also turned around a 0:1 deficit against Borussia Mönchengladbach late on with two goals in stoppage time before the winter break (final score: 2:1).
In fact, only Dortmund and Augsburg (twelve each) have picked up more points in the 2023/24 season after trailing than the Adler (two wins, three draws), who with their pronounced resilience can also be expected to do well at the Red Bull Arena. After all, SGE have always got off to a good start and have won their first Bundesliga game of the calendar year in four of the last five years (one defeat).
Predicted Frankfurt line-up:
RB Leipzig – Frankfurt head-to-head comparison / H2H result
Head to head: 5 – 7 – 4
A total of 16 meetings have taken place between the two teams so far and RB Leipzig lead the direct comparison against Eintracht Frankfurt with five wins. The Saxons recently won two games in a row against the Hessians, which is the same number of victories as in the 13 previous duels
RB Leipzig – Frankfurt betting tip
In our eyes, the betting odds for RB Leipzig against Frankfurt are a little too clearly in favor of the Red Bulls. RBL have won the last two competitive matches in a row against SGE. However, the Saxons have only won two of their 13 previous encounters against the Eagles, who are sixth in the table and have only lost four of their 16 league games in the 2023/24 season and have scored five times after falling behind (two wins, three draws)
At the moment, we also see the Saxons in the role of favorites. However, in view of the fact that RBL have conceded at least one goal in their last eleven competitive matches, a points haul for Hesse cannot be ruled out. The prediction that both teams will score in RB Leipzig v Frankfurt is therefore interesting
