Will the Fuggerstadt team make it exciting?
RB Leipzig are now unbeaten in 15 Bundesliga games across two seasons (nine wins, six draws). The Red Bulls are now full of confidence ahead of their next home game. The tip for the three-pointer for RB Leipzig against Augsburg is high on the Saxons. After all, RBL has not lost any of the last 13 Bundesliga games against the Fuggerstadt team (eight wins, five draws).
The Bavarian Swabians, on the other hand, have lost their last five Bundesliga away games and were even beaten 4-0 in Heidenheim on matchday 2. However, that doesn’t make the home win for the Red Bulls at RB Leipzig against Augsburg a sure thing. Not only have the Saxons sometimes struggled to score, but the Fuggerstadt team has also performed better than their results suggest. Augsburg’s 73 shots on target are only topped by Leverkusen (91) and Bayern (75) in 2024/25.
It is also striking that although RB Leipzig did not suffer a defeat in any of the four Bundesliga games (two wins, two draws), they also did not win by more than a one-goal margin, even though they nominally faced Bochum (1-0), Union Berlin (0-0) and St. Pauli (0-0) teams.
The handicap bet of +2 on FCA is therefore very hot, covering every point won by the Fuggerstadt team as well as every further RBL win with only a one-goal difference. Because we expect the majority of the action to take place in the second half, you can bet on odds of 1.90 at Tipwin that more goals will be scored after the break than in the first half.
RB Leipzig vs. Augsburg prognosis AI
If you ask the BETSiE at RB Leipzig against Augsburg about their AI prognosis, you get a remarkably clear answer: the supercomputer suggests the favorite tip and sees a really enormous value in it. In the Intertops app, we find top odds of 1.45 for tip 1, which implies a probability of almost exactly 69 percent for the home win of the Saxons. So, if you give the Red Bulls a chance of winning of at least 70 percent, this bet is a good one.
In fact, however, the BETSiE not only certifies RB Leipzig as having a 70 percent chance of winning, but a whopping 77.91 percent. In other words: from a mathematical point of view, the AI would still advise betting on the home win for the Saxons even if the odds were only 1.30, for example. That’s quite a statement, especially since BETSiE also calculates an expected goals value of 1.73 for the Fuggerstadt team, which could make it correspondingly wild and opaque.
RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
On matchday 2 of the 2024/25 season, RB Leipzig celebrated an unexpected 3-2 away win at Bayer Leverkusen. The Saxons ended the double winners’ long unbeaten streak at national level and also extended their own streak at the same time.
Although they only managed two draws against Union Berlin (0:0) and St. Pauli (0:0) after that, the Red Bulls have now gone 15 Bundesliga matches without defeat (nine wins, six draws), making them one of the in-form teams in the Bundesliga.
Internationally, however, they could have got off to a much better start. RBL lost 2-1 on matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League group stage at Atlético Madrid. However, they already have a chance to rectify the situation next Wednesday when they play host to Juventus Turin at home.
RB Leipzig scores too few goals
The Saxons have so far been extremely solid, particularly defensively. Marco Rose’s side have kept a clean sheet in three of their four league games so far. That is as good as any side in the league, as are the only two goals conceded in four games.
Nevertheless, we believe that betting on RB Leipzig to win against Augsburg is too great a risk. In particular, they have been stuck twice in a row in offense recently. The only four goals scored are only bettered by St. Pauli (one) and Bochum (three) and represent a new club record for the fewest goals scored at the start of a season.
Although the Saxons are one of only three Bundesliga clubs still unbeaten, there is still room for improvement for the two-time cup winners, who went away empty-handed for the first time this summer after their recent successes.
Augsburg – Statistics & current form
Augsburg, under Jess Thorup, who led the club to eleventh place in the final table this summer, are hoping for a similarly quiet season in which they have as little to do with relegation as possible. Overall, however, the start of the season was mixed for the Swabians from the Fugger town. They have only managed to score four out of a possible twelve points.
On the road, the FCA has even lost its last five Bundesliga away games across all seasons. Should there now be a sixth defeat in a row away from home, the club’s negative record of six Bundesliga away defeats in a row, set between March and May 2021, would be officially equaled.
Augsburg has played courageously forward so far
In any case, the odds at the top bookmakers are clearly against the Fuggerstadt team for RB Leipzig against Augsburg, with the top odds for an away win for Augsburg at 7.00. However, it should be noted that there have definitely been chances for a better result so far. Only Leverkusen (91) and Bayern (75) have so far had more shots on target in 2024/25 than Augsburg (73).
The fact that “only” seven of them were scored is, of course, just as much a factor as the fact that the (too?) offensive style of play has already led to a whopping ten goals against. However, if the Fuggerstadters improve their play in front of goal and increase their chances and precision, the chances of Augsburg winning a point in the Red Bull Arena are significantly reduced…
RB Leipzig – Augsburg Direct comparison / H2H record
Head to head: 11 – 6 – 3
A total of 20 competitive matches have taken place between the two teams so far and FC Augsburg have only managed to get a win against RB Leipzig three times. Including two meetings in the DFB Cup, the Fuggerstadt team are currently waiting for their next win against the Red Bulls for 15 meetings (five draws, ten defeats).
RB Leipzig – Augsburg betting tip
The betting odds for RB Leipzig against Augsburg are clearly and unequivocally in favor of the Red Bulls. The AI prediction also suggests betting on the home win for the Saxons, who have not lost in 15 Bundesliga games (nine wins, six draws). However, it cannot be denied that Marco Rose’s team are still struggling to score goals. While Leipzig have scored only four goals, Augsburg have scored seven. However, they have also conceded five times as many goals as Leipzig.
Nevertheless, we believe that the Fuggerstadt team can make it exciting in the Red Bull Arena. The prediction that Augsburg will lose by a maximum of one goal is therefore very interesting for the RB Leipzig v Augsburg game.
