Will Rayo remain unbeaten at home?

Rayo Vallecano take on Mallorca in a battle of the promoted teams in Spain. The home side are in the upper midfield and can be satisfied with this interim balance. However, the Red and Whites have slipped a bit recently and only occupy a mid-table position when looking at the form table for the past five rounds of matches.

The visitors, for their part, arrive as current draw specialists: For four rounds of matches, the points have always been shared with the respective opponents and just under half of the 13 games so far this season have ended in a draw. As a result, they are currently only good enough for 13th place in the table.

For the match at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas between Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca, the forecast includes a home win. Who the bookies think is most likely to win the title in the country’s top division

Rayo Vallecano – Statistics & current form

Coach Androni Iraola’s eleven has impressed so far with a strong offensive. Only four teams in the top flight of Spanish football have scored more goals than the promoted team. Especially the newcomer Falcao, who came from Galatasaray on a free transfer, has shown himself to be a reliable scorer with his new employer.

Five goals in eight league games are proof of his continued hunger for goals. However, the Colombian now has to miss out due to injury. The hopes of last year’s sixth-placed team in La Liga 2 now lie first and foremost with Alvaro Garcia.

After Falcao, the Spaniard is the best goal scorer in the jersey of the “Franjirrojos” and, with four goals, already has as many goals as at the respective final reckoning in the past three seasons.

Nevertheless, it can be said that the Spanish “St. Pauli’s” offensive has been less strong recently. This can be seen from only two goals in the review of the past three rounds of matches. However, the opposition has admittedly been very strong with teams such as Real Madrid recently.

Will the hosts score at least twice?

The upcoming opponents are now a few sizes smaller again, which is why the odds on at least two goals by the home side in the match between Vallecano and Mallorca also offer themselves.

The Vallecanos can also rely on home advantage: They have won five of their six home games and only Sevilla have scored more on home soil than the 2018 second-division champions.

The defence in particular is a real bulwark on home soil. It picked up a clean sheet in four of the six home games and conceded only two goals in total. The attack is equally comfortable at home: 13 of the 19 goals scored in the season were scored at the Campo de Fútbol de Vallecas.

Rayo already ahead at the break?

As a rule, the course for a home victory is also set in the first period. This was the case in two thirds of Rayo’s home matches! With this in mind, tips on another home win, including an interval lead, in Vallecano’s match against Mallorca are also worth a recommendation.

Mallorca – Statistics & current form

As strong as Rayo are at home, the islanders have been weak away from home so far. Only one of their six away games has ended with a win, and that came in their first away game almost a quarter of a year ago against Alaves.

A fundamental shortcoming of coach Vicente Moreno’s team is its fragile defence. Only second-bottom Levante have conceded more goals than the 105-year-old club in a league-wide comparison. Once again, this is especially true for the visiting games of the 2003 Spanish Cup winners, as only the aforementioned win over Alaves managed a clean sheet.

Mallorca’s attack with upturn in form

At least the offense has stepped it up a notch in recent weeks: Six of just 13 goals on the season have been scored in the review of the past four rounds of matches. The upward trend was also noticeable away from home, with three goals in the two most recent matches at Valencia and Cadiz.

The visitors, on the other hand, are not happy about their personnel situation: Several players, such as the suspended Ghanaian Iddrisu Baba in midfield or the injured Japanese Takefusa Kubo in attack, cannot play. On top of that, the Spanish veteran Antonio Raillo, who has been injured for a long time, is still out of action.

Predicted line-up of Mallorca:
Reina – Olivan – Sedlar – Valjent – Maffeo – Sanchez – Ruiz de Galarreta – Mboula – Sevilla – Rodriguez – Nino

Rayo Vallecano – Mallorca Direct Comparison / H2H Balance

The “Piratas” won the last direct encounter away from home. Hereby, RCD took revenge for a previous home defeat in this pairing. However, the Balearic side’s away victories are in the minority in a broader flashback: four of the twelve away games in league play over the past 32 years have been won by the visitors (6-2-4). For the upcoming edition of Rayo Vallecano against Mallorca, the odds also assign the home side the role of favourites.

Rayo Vallecano – Mallorca Tip

The hosts will be going for the home bonus against the 1999 European Cup Winners’ Cup finalists. They have yet to lose a home game and have won five of their six matches on home soil. Even Barcelona, who admittedly are often a shadow of their former selves, were beaten on home soil just over three weeks ago.

The forecast for the clash between Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca therefore includes a home win. In addition to Rayo’s home strength, the “Bermellones”‘ weakness away from home also supports the prediction – they have not won in five away games.

Although the hosts will be without their top striker Falcao, a home win can be expected even without the Colombian. The prediction is backed up by the visitors’ recent performances: they only managed a draw against Elche and Cadiz, who are both bottom of the table.

Bwin is offering odds of 1.88 on the match between Rayo Vallecano and Mallorca.
