Can Bayer 04 secure group victory?
Many eyes in European soccer are currently on the German Rhineland. Bayer 04 Leverkusen are currently playing some incredibly good soccer under coach Alonso and finally seem ready for a title after years.
But of course the season is still long and the Spanish man at the helm will be aiming to clinch a treble on Thursday. Then Bayer 04 would no longer be out of contention to win the group and the Bundesliga outfit would save themselves unnecessary knockout games.
The Spanish coach could also rotate as much as possible in the last two group games. The odds for Qarabag Agdam vs. Leverkusen are around 1.40. In the end, too little for a bet in this direction
In the first leg, the hosts from Azerbaijan had no chance against the Werkself, the 1:5 from Agdam’s point of view was still flattering. And that was despite Alonso rotating more than half his starting eleven.
It seems extremely unlikely that this starting position will change in the second leg. In the clash between Qarabag Agdam and Leverkusen, odds of around 6.00 are available for the home side. Tempting, but also very risky
Because Bayer is simply brutally strong. First place in the Bundesliga ahead of FC Bayern, the round of 16 in the DFB Cup and a clear group lead in the Europa League. The Bayer players can only beat themselves at the moment.
Since betting on a win for Qarabag Agdam against Leverkusen is too unprofitable, we will have to take a different approach. Kick-off for the Euro clash is at 18:45 on Thursday evening.
Qarabag Agdam – statistics & current form
It’s still all to play for for the home side. The Azerbaijani side are just one point behind leaders Zira in the domestic league and are also within touching distance of progressing in the Europa League.
After all, the current group runners-up had won both games before the clear defeat against Bayer 04. However, the difference in class was more than clear in the first leg
Market value lower than 15 million
And that was to be expected. The Leverkusen squad is worth more than 40 times as much as the home side. Agdam is the definition of a David in the Goliath saga, at least in terms of starting position.
But it is highly unlikely that the 12-time Azerbaijani champions will actually fall to the soccer giants in the second leg. The odds for Qarabag Agdam v Leverkusen are well over 6.00 for the home side.
Very inviting, but in itself only dependent on Bayer 04. If the Werkself show any semblance of normal form on matchday four, the hosts will see no land. Incidentally, Agdam’s most valuable player is keeper Lunev, who was also once under contract with Leverkusen.
Predicted Qarabag Agdam line-up:
Leverkusen – Statistics & current form
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have been unstoppable so far this season. Coach Alonso’s team have won all but one of their games this season: a 2:2 draw in Munich at the Allianz Arena. An incredible start and now a club record in the Bundesliga.
Now an absolutely doable task awaits the creative attacking orchestra. The big question on Thursday will be: Who will the Spanish coach even field?
Rotation in Europe
The number two goalkeeper, Kovar, is already a certainty. The goalkeeper will keep goal for the Werkself in European competition. Otherwise, Alonso is also likely to rotate further to give his regulars an important break.
At the same time, the Rhinelanders will of course want to clinch a three-pointer in Azerbaijan in order to secure their place in the group. The coach will probably bring on his best players in the 60th minute at the latest if the game is tight.
With Wirtz, Boniface and Grimaldo, three Bayer players are currently operating at world-class level. In addition, the squad has depth and the second suit also has a certain class.
German international Andrich, for example, regularly sits on the bench for the Bundesliga leaders. However, Bayer will again be missing attacker Patrick Schick. The former goalscorer celebrated his comeback in the first leg after more than 200 days out, but has now suffered another injury and will be out for weeks.
However, this should only minimally disrupt the Werkself on Thursday. The odds on Qarabag Agdam v Leverkusen are well over 3.00 for over 4.5 goals, which is certainly worth considering after the high-scoring first leg.
Predicted Leverkusen line-up:
Qarabag Agdam – Leverkusen head-to-head comparison / H2H result
One game, one win. The direct comparison is based on the 5:1 in the first leg. Wirtz, Grimaldo, Boniface and Tapsoba scored for the Werkself and secured the clear victory
Qarabag Agdam – Leverkusen betting tip
Leverkusen can only beat themselves this weekend. However, the odds on a Bayer victory are too low and due to the importance of a three-pointer for the Rhinelanders, we also consider a surprise to be out of the question.
We therefore have to look for other predictions for the clash between Qarabag Agdam and Leverkusen. The “Both score” option naturally comes to mind.
A Leverkusen goal seems more than obvious and the home side also played bravely in the first leg. Even though they scored from the spot in the BayArena, they are certainly capable of scoring in front of a home crowd. Also because Bayer are likely to rotate, some sequences might not be entirely clear at the start
The Bayer team have conceded one goal in their last five competitive matches and have scored in every game so far. Home advantage and the home side’s bold style of play make a goal more likely for the hosts.
