Duelling Wolverhampton’s weakest and best offence
After football was dormant in the UK last weekend due to the death of the Queen, the Premier League continues with matchday 8. Odds and tips for all matches are presented succinctly below.
However, not all previously scheduled matches will be played. For example, the clash between Chelsea and runners-up Liverpool will be cancelled. The champions from Manchester will play again.
Guardiola’s side will be looking to extend their unbeaten run of six games at Wolverhampton. Leicester, on the other hand, will be looking for their first win of the season in their clash with Tottenham.
But the chances are not good – Spurs are third in the table going into the clash. They are also the only unbeaten team in the division apart from Manchester City.
Aston Villa vs. Southampton – 16 September, 21:00
Villa are only in 17th place after six rounds of fixtures and their poor start to the season has been largely down to a defensive lapse in the second half.
The home side have conceded no less than seven of their ten goals so far after the break!
For the visit of Ralph Hasenhüttl’s team to Villa Park in the Premier League on Matchday 8, betting tips on a goal by the visitors after half-time are therefore worth recommending.
Che Adams, in particular, comes into consideration for this. The Saints’ attacker has scored four of the visitors’ six goals away from home in the league and EFL Cup!
Nottingham v Fulham – 16 September, 21:00
Nottingham have lost consistently for three rounds of matches and have hardly looked competitive defensively, conceding an average of 3.66 goals.
The promoted Tricky Trees are also the only team in the division to have conceded more than 100 goals (104). Fulham are clearly performing better as promoted teams.
They have lost only two of their six league games (2-2-2). Furthermore, the visitors have a powerful striker in Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The Serbian is currently second in the scoring charts with six goals and has scored consistently for four rounds of matches. For the matchday 8 clash at the City Ground in the Premier League, betting on an away win seems promising.
Wolverhampton v Manchester City – 17 September, 13:30
The Wanderers won for the first time this season against Southampton last matchday. However, their attack in particular has been disappointing: together with West Ham, it has the weakest output with only three goals in the league-wide comparison.
Moreover, it is hardly existent after the break tea, as in this part of the game not a single goal has been scored this season! Instead, the visitors travel with the best attacking line-up in the division.
On average, the Citizens have scored more than three goals per league match so far! In addition, they have the highest shot conversion rate with 19.6 percent and this also applies to the expected goals with + 6.1.
Although the value drops in the away games, two goals per away game are of course just as impressive. Erling Haaland has also been unstoppable away from home so far – in the three away games this season, the Norwegian has always scored at least once.
For the matchday 8 clash at Molineux in the Premier League, betting on an away win to nil seems to be profitable.
Newcastle v Bournemouth – 17 September, 16:00
Newcastle are in good form: The hosts have lost only one of their last eight league games. The upward trend from the end of last season has continued.
A big part of that is the solid defence, which has kept a clean sheet in half of the six league games played this season. Bournemouth, for their part, have only scored five goals and three were scored in the last game against Nottingham alone.
In the most recent promotion tie, the visitors once again benefited from their opponents’ very weak defence, which is why the three goals have to be put into perspective. For the clash at St. James Park in the Premier League on matchday 8, the tip includes a home win to nil.
Tottenham vs. Leicester – 17 September, 18:30 hrs
Tottenham can rely on Harry Kane unwaveringly. The Briton has already scored five goals this season. He is particularly fond of scoring against Leicester. He already has 19 goals against this opponent – against no other team are there more.
Furthermore, only Alan Shearer has scored more goals against any one opponent in the history of the Premier League. In his case, it is 20 against Leeds and Kane currently has 17 against City.
The home side will also be banking on home advantage: They have won all three of their home games so far. Leicester are bottom of the table. The “Foxes” are in a serious form crisis and are still waiting for their first win.
Moreover, they have lost their three matches away from home and no team in the league concedes more goals away from home than the 2016 champions.
Brentford v Arsenal – 18 September, 13:00
There should be no shortage of goals in the London derby between Brentford and Arsenal. Only one of the six completed league games of the “Bees” ended with less than three goals and in relation to the guests, it is also only two.
The home side’s attack has been particularly convincing so far: with 15 goals, it is the second best in the British top flight. In addition, the average value of own goals from the previous year could be almost doubled to 2.5 goals per game.
The visitors, however, are hardly inferior to these figures as league leaders with 14 goals. Although the Gunners suffered their first defeat at Old Trafford last matchday, this defeat will hardly have left any major traces.
The performance against Manchester United was nevertheless respectable and the previous performances, with five wins to start the season, were consistently strong. For the clash in the capital in the Premier League on Matchday 8, tips on more than 2.5 goals are therefore on offer.
Everton vs West Ham – 18 September, 15:15
The home side join Leicester as the only teams in the top flight of British football still waiting for their first treble after six rounds of fixtures.
They have only gone seven rounds without a win in the country’s top flight three times before (1926/27; 1956/57 and 1994/95).
At least the defence is comparatively secure. They have not conceded more than one goal on average in the first six rounds of matches. The visitors also travel with a particularly weak attack.
They have only scored three times – their weakest output alongside Wolverhampton. Predictions of a maximum of two goals are therefore worth considering for the clash at Goodison Park in the Premier League on matchday 8.
