Manchester United seek redemption and Harry Kane his first goal of the season!
The Premier League got off to an entertaining start with only Matchday 2 to go. Tips and odds for all matches can be read in the following text.
The “Red Devils” will probably be particularly motivated after the surprising defeat against Brighton at the start. New coach Erik ten Hag had an unsuccessful debut and will now be hoping for his first win when he visits Brentford.
The runners-up from Liverpool are also looking for their first three points against Crystal Palace. In addition, the top match will take place in the capital: In the London North West Derby, the recently victorious Chelsea and Tottenham will face each other!
Harry Kane will be hoping for a goal in this match: With 41 goals, he is only two goals behind Thierry Henry, who is currently the most successful goal scorer in the history of the city matches on the Thames in the Premier League.
On the other hand, he has already waited five duels with the Blues for his next goal – only against City (7) and United (6) from Manchester did the attacker show longer dry spells in his career.
Aston Villa v Everton – Aug 13, 13:30
Birmingham suffered a somewhat surprising defeat to promoted Bournemouth in their opener. Villa were the better team against the “Cherries”, but the lack of chances tipped the scales in favour of the newcomers.
The visitors also started the new season with a defeat. The Mersey side suffered a 1-0 home defeat against the Blues. From a playing point of view, the defeat was deserved.
For the clash at Villa Park in the Premier League on Matchday 2, tips on a draw are now worth a recommendation.
Both teams could certainly live with this outcome, as it would have prevented a complete false start through a possible further defeat.
Moreover, the teams are on a similar qualitative level with regard to the available squad.
Brighton v Newcastle – 13 August, 16:00
Brighton picked up their first ever win at Old Trafford in the Premier League last weekend! So the Seagulls’ start to the new season couldn’t have gone any better. Now Albion want to follow up against Newcastle in the first home game of the season.
The “Magpies”, however, were also victorious in their opening game. United recorded a 2-0 home win against the promoted Nottingham side.
It was certainly not the last clean sheet on the part of the visitors, because the defence was polished up during the summer break – for example with the signing of Dutchman Sven Botman from Lille or goalkeeper Nick Pope from relegated Burnley.
The newly formed defence did not allow a single direct shot on goal against Nottingham! For the match at the Amex Stadium in the PL on Matchday 2, predictions of a maximum of one goal from the home side are a good idea in light of the visitors’ new defensive strength.
Arsenal vs Leicester – Aug 13, 16:00
The “Gunners” started with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in the London derby. However, the victory was one goal too high and even a draw would have been fair from an objective point of view.
The visitors, for their part, gave victory away after a 2-0 win over Brentford in their opening home game and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at the final whistle.
The attack around Jamie Vardy is already appealing, but the defence obviously still has room for improvement. Given this combination and the unquestionably strong attacking line-up on the home side’s side, goals are on the cards in this pairing.
Southampton v Leeds – 13 Aug, 16:00
The “Saints” took an early lead at Tottenham last weekend, but then had to give in to their opponents all the more clearly.
In the end, they suffered a 4-1 defeat and the final test match against Villarreal, a 2-1 defeat, was not a good testimony to the defence of the club from the south coast. Leeds, for their part, achieved an opening win against Wolves.
The 2-1 result was flattering, however, as Lage’s side were the better team. For the match between two similarly match-filled teams at St Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League on Matchday 2, tips on a draw are worth considering.
Manchester City v Bournemouth – Aug 13, 4:00pm
The champions, unlike arguably their nearest rivals Liverpool once again, showed no signs of letting their guard down in their opener against West Ham.
City beat the Londoners 2-0 and Erling Haaland made a perfect league debut with both goals, having been denied a goal for his new employers in the previous FA Community Shield against the Reds.
The promoted side also achieved a victory on their return to the top flight. AFC beat Aston Villa 2-0.
With the clash at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League within Matchday 2, predictions of another goal by Haaland as the first scorer of the encounter seem fruitful.
Following the departures of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, the ex-Borussian is now the lynchpin of the champions’ attack and his performance in the opener has made it clear that he is still capable of scoring in the Premier League.
Wolverhampton v Fulham – Aug 13, 4pm
The Wanderers started the new season with a defeat at Leeds. As last season, the efficiency of the attack left much to be desired. No wonder: With Raul Jimenez and Chiquinho, the home team was again missing two strikers.
The visiting promoted side again did their job with flying colours last weekend. A respectable 2:2 was achieved against Liverpool. Both goals were scored by Aleksandar Mitrovic – last season’s top scorer in the Championship.
Perhaps he can now also convince in the top flight of British football. His two seasons so far in this division have been rather subdued compared to his always very strong performances in the lower house.
For the match at Molineux on Matchday 2 in the Premier League, tips on the double chance in favour of the visitors are recommended. The Londoners were convincing in their opener, while the Wanderers are currently weakened by various injuries.
Brentford vs Manchester United – 13 August, 18:30
The “Bees” are entering their second season in a row in the British top flight. As described, the start was also promising with a draw at Leicester. One of the two goals was scored by Ivan Toney.
The striker was already the London team’s top scorer last season. The visitors, for their part, arrive with a lot of frustration.
They suffered an unexpected defeat against Brighton and coach Erik van Teg had an unsuccessful start with his new employer. With two goals conceded, the defence was still in holiday mode.
In view of the above, predictions of goals on both sides in the clash at the Brentford Community Stadium on Matchday 2 appear to be profitable.
Nottingham v West Ham – 14 August, 15:00
Nottingham recorded a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on their comeback to the Premier League. The game showed that it will be very difficult for the newcomer to survive in the country’s top division.
Especially the attacking performance was rather sub-par with not a single direct shot on the opponent’s box.
The visitors also suffered a defeat against the champions in their opener, but at least important attacking newcomer Gianluca Scamacca was able to play the last 30 or so minutes of the game.
The former Sassuolo attacker from the Italian Serie A missed the previous preparation due to an injury, but is now fit again in time for the season opener.
However, Nayef Aguerd, who was brought in from Rennes, will still not be able to play. The Moroccan international was supposed to strengthen the defence, but is still unable to do so due to injury.
For the clash at the City Ground in the Premier League on Matchday 2, bets on an away win are recommended.
Chelsea v Tottenham – 14 August, 17:30
The “Blues” picked up a win at an away fearful opponent in the shape of Everton on their season debut. They had previously suffered four straight defeats at Goodison Park.
The visitors also got off to a winning start, beating Southampton 4-1, and the scale of the victory showed that Tottenham are in very good early form.
Although Harry Kane did not score in the match, the attacker has been very accurate in the preparation with five goals in the four test matches.
In the match at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Matchday 2, predictions of his now also first goal in league play are therefore worth considering.
Liverpool v Crystal Palace – 15 August, 21:00
Reds coach Jurgen Klopp did not bring on his king transfer Darwin Nunez until the 51st minute in the opener against Fulham.
Perhaps in this case, the coach’s intended load control for his newcomer was a little exaggerated, because the Uruguayan then needed only twelve minutes for his first goal and equalised for the runners-up.
In the end, however, Liverpool only managed a draw with the Londoners. Now it’s back to the Eagles against a club from the capital.
The visitors, for their part, conceded an opening defeat against Arsenal and have lost no fewer than the past ten encounters in the British top flight against the Mersey side!
A test match this summer also ended in a 2-0 victory for Klopp’s side. For the clash at Anfield Road in the second round of the 2022/23 Premier League, the odds on Darwin Nunez scoring again can be located in the eyes of the betting base Value.
Klopp will certainly not just bring him off the bench again in the first home game and the Uruguayan will be particularly motivated on his debut in front of his new home fans.
