The Belgian and the club have agreed to terminate his contract, which was due to expire in June. He hasn’t played a game in a year and a half, his last of 36 in Rossonero colors was in May 2023. With his departure, no one remains from the post-Scudetto transfer market.

Divock Origi, remember? He has not appeared on the pitch for the Rossoneri since May 2023, at the end of a season that saw him make 27 appearances, mostly as a substitute, and score two goals, against Monza and Sassuolo. Yet he has often appeared in the news: after returning from a subsequent loan spell at Nottingham Forest, Origi opposed any further transfer, without ever playing again. He no longer trained at Milanello, in agreement with the club. Just over a year ago, it was reported that the Belgian was spending time in Rome and Florence, training with a personal trainer: he had to stay in Italy for (among other things) tax reasons. However, a return to the pitch was clearly never on his mind.

There is news: the termination of his contract with Milan until next season is a done deal. The statement is blunt: “AC Milan announces that it has mutually terminated its contract with striker Divock Origi. The club wishes the player all the best for the future.” Farewell, after 36 games in Rossonero, all in his first season. Milan will therefore save some of the money it still owes him and close a terrible chapter. Origi signed with the Rossoneri in 2022, just after they won the Scudetto. A contract worth €4 million net per season until June 2026, more than €300,000 per month. Since then, things have gone very badly. A first season with Pioli as a reserve, with those two useless goals in the league and nothing in the Champions League. Then the change in management, from Maldini and Massara to Furlani-Moncada, who chose to send him on loan to Nottingham Forest to save money on his salary. Another negative chapter, with his last game played in April 2024. There was a moment in the summer of 2024 when a transfer to Turkey seemed possible, but then nothing came of it and Origi never set foot on the pitch again. So, from that not-so-productive 2022 transfer window, no one remains: Vranckx, Dest, Thiaw, De Ketelaere, and Origi had all arrived. They are all elsewhere now.
