Only a win will do for the Partenopei

Naples will be in hot water on Monday evening at the foot of Vesuvius, because Inter Milan already took the lead on Saturday this week. With their 3-1 win over Cagliari, the Nerazzurri are currently leading the table by six points. So if the tip for the home win of the Partenopei against Empoli does not pan out, the hopes for the Scudetto will probably be dashed for good.

Admittedly, one should – especially as a neutral observer – probably think that in the case of Naples against Empoli, the prognosis of a home victory for the Neapolitans is almost without alternative. In fact, however, the guest from Tuscany is a kind of bogey team for the Neapolitans. The Partenopei have lost four of their last seven Serie A games against Empoli (three wins). To make matters worse, they have once again shown an inability to win close matches. Antonio Conte’s side have won just two of their last nine league games (six draws, one defeat).

In principle, therefore, it can be stated that only one motto can really apply to this game: DON’T TOUCH IT! Nonetheless, we have found a few tips that are in the value range and are definitely playable. Finally, despite the SSC Napoli’s recent poor form, it should be noted that Empoli FC are on a downward spiral. The Tuscan club have not won in their last 16 Serie A games (five draws, eleven defeats) and have scored only one goal in their last five competitive games.

Naples – Statistics & current form

After finishing last season in a disappointing tenth place, SSC Naples were able to fully concentrate on domestic tasks in the new 2024/25 season. The new coach Antonio Conte not only managed to stabilize the Partenopei again.

A total of 16 of the 31 match days also saw the Azzurri top the table. But then, much to the annoyance of the coach, who is now also rumored to be willing to leave, the superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was sold to Paris Saint-Germain without replacement in the winter. It was the beginning of a downward trend that continues to this day. Although the club from Campania is still difficult to beat. However, only two of the last nine league games have been won (one defeat) despite six draws, which is largely due to the gap left by the Georgian.

Naples have their core strength in defensive work

Admittedly, the Azzurri have only scored a single goal in one of their last 16 Serie A games. But in four of the last nine matches, it was often only this single goal that was not enough to secure the all-important three points in a series of 1-1 draws. If the opponent played a complete game, the game was held up against vulnerable teams, as in the recent 0-0 draw with Venezia FC.

On the credit side, there is the defensive compactness, because the only 25 goals conceded are unparalleled and attest to the Partenopei having the best defense in the top flight of Italian football. Nevertheless, the tip for the home win of the Campanians is by no means a sure thing, especially since the guests from Tuscany have mostly had an antidote against the Neapolitans lately. Four of the last seven Serie A games against Empoli were eventually lost (three wins).

Empoli – Statistics & current form

Under the stewardship of Roberto D’Aversa, who was appointed last summer, Empoli FC got off to a strong start and were even able to aim for a place in the top half of the table. After almost being relegated and finishing in 17th place last year, everything looked set for a very quiet season. Meanwhile, however, the Azzurri are once again in the relegation battle and, as things stand, would even be out of the running.

Before the away game at the foot of Vesuvius, they are finally two points away from the safe shore. But since the competition has already played, one thing is also clear: if the kickers from Tuscany get the three points in Campania, they are guaranteed to climb back above the line. However, the odds for Naples against Empoli are 10.50 for tip 2, which clearly shows how unlikely an away win is in the eyes of the betting providers. But: Empoli have won two of their last three away games at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona (one defeat).

Empoli just can’t stop the slide

Basically, we would definitely find value in any outsider bets. If it weren’t for the incredible slide that Empoli FC is currently going through. The Azzurri have not won in 16 consecutive Serie A games (five draws, eleven defeats), which is the cause of the free fall. Only in the Coppa Italia did the Tuscan team perform well recently, eliminating both Fiorentina and Juventus Turin in away games and storming into the semi-finals.

However, they have also suffered a major setback recently. In the round that is played with two legs, the first leg at home to Bologna was lost 3-0, meaning that the dream of reaching the final is also practically over. The fact that the offense, which is one of the tame ones in the league with just 24 goals in 31 league games, has gone four games without scoring in the last five, makes the task of turning the tables in Naples, of all places, even more ambitious.

Naples – Empoli Direct comparison / H2H record

Head to head: 14 – 6 – 12

A total of 32 meetings have taken place between the two teams so far and SSC Naples leads the direct comparison by a narrow margin with 14 wins. The Partenopei did win the first leg in Tuscany by a narrow margin with 1-0. However, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has been sorely missed since the winter, was once again responsible for the golden goal. In general, Empoli is a feared opponent, against whom the Campania team have lost four of their last seven Serie A games (three wins).

Naples vs. Empoli tip

Although the odds for Naples against Empoli are clearly in favor of the home side, with only 25 goals conceded, they have the strongest defense in the Serie A. However, the Partenopei have only won two of their last nine league games (six draws, one defeat), have struggled to score goals since the winter transfer of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and are now hosting an opponent against whom they have lost four of their last seven Serie A games (three wins).

The guest from Tuscany, however, is in poor form and has not won in 16 Serie A games (five draws, 11 defeats). However, if the prediction of an away win against Empoli at Naples comes true, Roberto D’Aversa’s men would return to a non-relegation place, which should be motivation enough for the guests.

Nevertheless, there is little to suggest that Empoli will score an away goal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, which is why we find the clean sheet for SSC Napoli to be the best value in our betting tip. For this, NEO.bet offers odds of 1.90.
