Departure tonight for Singapore (Arsenal), then Hong Kong (Liverpool) and Australia (Perth Glory). This morning’s test match at Milanello against Futuro ended 3-0 for Allegri’s team: goals from Bartesaghi, Liberali and Gabbia
After summers spent in the West, Milan is once again turning its attention to the East. The tour of the East kicks off today, with departure scheduled for the evening (10:20 p.m.) from Malpensa airport for Singapore. The Rossoneri arrive after two weeks of intense training – two sessions a day, whole days spent together at Milanello – which ended with a closed-door friendly against Oddo’s Milan Futuro: a 90-minute match that ended 3-0 for the first team with goals from Bartesaghi, Liberali, and Gabbia. Pulisic, Fofana, and Jimenez did not participate due to workload management, with no physical issues. From the next match onwards, the bar will be raised considerably, as the first opponent will be Arsenal: the match is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, in Singapore. Then it will be time for the challenge against English champions Liverpool on Saturday, July 26, in Hong Kong.
The third and final match will be on Thursday 31 in Perth, Australia (where the Rossoneri played a year ago) against Perth Glory. The team is scheduled to return to Italy on August 1 and will have two to three days off.
In less than two weeks, Milan will make several significant flights, which will not allow for constant work as has been the case up to now, but will give the club the opportunity to be present in an area—the Asia-Pacific region—where the Diavolo aims to confirm its position as the Italian club with the most fans (estimated at over 300 million). Several commercial events are planned, with initiatives dedicated to the younger generation and, in general, to fans, who will be able to attend some open training sessions. Two legends will accompany the team: Pato and Serginho. The last time Milan was in the East was in 2017, in China. In August, Modric and Gimenez are scheduled to arrive between the 4th and 5th, followed by two friendlies in two days: on the 9th against Leeds United (in Dublin) and on the 10th against Chelsea (at Stamford Bridge). Then it’s time for official commitments: the debut on Sunday 17 at San Siro against Bari in the Coppa Italia round of 32, followed by the home league debut on Saturday 23 against Cremonese.
