The parties are getting closer and closer: the offer is 5 million plus bonuses for a contract until 2031, without release clauses

Small steps towards the goal. Mike Maignan and Milan love each other, they have forgotten a few misunderstandings from the past and are now ready to move forward together. What’s missing? The signature on the new contract, which the two parties are currently discussing. Just a few details remain, but now both the club and the player (and especially the agents) are all rowing in the same direction, leading to the long-awaited renewal. Even the issue of agent commissions—the last obstacle that emerged in recent weeks—now seems less daunting, so much so that in the coming days, after the trip to Rome, a decisive meeting is planned with Jonathan Kebe, who was already seen in Milan after the victory in Como: the feeling is that this time the meeting could end with white smoke.

This is a completely different scenario from the start of the season, when Magic Mike stayed at Milan, despite having essentially said yes to Chelsea in the summer, before Via Aldo Rossi responded with a “no thanks” to the Blues’ offer. It was thought that he would stay until the current agreement expired on June 30 this year, especially given what happened at the beginning of 2025, when the Rossoneri backtracked on their renewal offer after a few too many mistakes by the Frenchman. However, sporting director Igli Tare, backed by CEO Giorgio Furlani, Max Allegri, and the technical staff, immediately had the crazy idea of changing Maignan’s mind, convincing him that his future could still be with the Rossoneri. The enthusiasm for the good results, the goalkeeper’s excellent performances, and Mike’s rapport not only with Allegri and his assistant Landucci (not coincidentally a former Serie A goalkeeper…), but also with the new goalkeeping coach, Claudio Filippi, did the rest. So we have arrived at today, when Maignan has regained a burning desire to play for Milan.

figures—  The Rossoneri’s offer is on the table, just waiting to be ratified. A base salary of €5 million net, plus bonuses that are more or less easy to achieve, but which would raise his salary to roughly the same level as Rafa Leao, the highest paid player on the roster; no release clause; a contract that would run until June 30, 2031. Maignan practically has the pen in his hand, he just has to put it to paper.
