The Inter president: “New San Siro, deed signed in November, then the design phases: it will be modern and eco-sustainable. Italy is no longer El Dorado, the big clubs do business with capital gains.”

Sustainable soccer, the San Siro stadium, algorithms, even an anecdote about Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Juventus. Inter president Giuseppe Marotta touched on a number of current issues at the Principe di Savoia hotel, where he was a guest at the presentation of the book by Stefano Boldrini, former journalist and correspondent for Sports Predictions dello Sport and author of “Il calcio del futuro” (The Soccer of the Future). The Inter boss spoke on a number of topics, starting with the stadium issue: “We will build a new facility: it will have to meet the needs of modernity in terms of civic and ethical values and environmental sustainability. We are still in an interim bureaucratic phase. Now we have to proceed with the acquisition of the old San Siro and the surrounding areas, then in November we will sign the deed and finally we will be able to move on to the design phase.”

SOCCER AND ALGORITHMS—  Marotta also spoke about how players are chosen and algorithms, now an essential tool for modern soccer. “At Juve, I was lucky enough to have Cristiano Ronaldo. He was different from the others because he even analyzed water bottles. He would go to the doctor and ask what was in them, their characteristics. If he is still a champion today, it is also because of things like this. The algorithm, however, helps a lot, but it is not decisive in the choice of player.”
