Man Utd with next home win?
Last time Wolves played a competitive game was just under a fortnight ago, and since then there have been two match cancellations at the Premier League’s bottom club. For the first time since the goalless draw against CFC, Wolverhampton now have a competitive match on the agenda. On Monday evening, the Wolves are guests at Manchester United’s Old Trafford.
The two clubs round off the 21st matchday in the Premier League at the start of the week. If you bet on Manchester United vs. Wolverhampton, you can get odds of 1.62 on the home side to win the match.
Since February 2020, the Red Devils have won each of their last three competitive games against Wolves. It is quite possible that the current winning streak will continue on Monday night. Manchester United’s recent run of form, among other things, argues for that.
Ralf Rangnick’s side have won four of their last five games in the English top flight. If the next victory beckons on Monday evening, the Red Devils can further minimise the gap to the starting places for the top flight. Manchester United are currently just four points adrift of fourth place in the league with two games to spare.
Manchester United – Statistics & current form
Manchester United are still looking to make amends after a poor start to the season. Under the guidance of Ralf Rangnick, who took over the team on an interim basis until the end of the season just under a month ago, the Red Devils have picked up ten points from the last four matchdays. Only against the last but one team in the table, Newcastle, did the Red Devils surprisingly fail to pick up maximum points.
Rangnick’s team compensated for that draw with a win against Burnley FC last week. This was the third time in a row that the seventh-placed Manchester side had taken three points at Old Trafford. It is quite possible that the next home win beckons on Monday evening. After all, the recent home record against Wolves is quite respectable.
Manchester United have not lost a home league match against Wolverhampton since February 1980. In the last ten home games, Man Utd have a record of 7-3-0 against Wolves. Seven times Manchester United have not conceded a goal.
Rangnick effect: Man Utd with winning mentality?
Monday’s match against Wolves is of immense importance for Manchester United in the current league standings. After all, if Rangnick’s side are successful against Wolverhampton Wanderers, they can move into fifth place and thus also minimise the gap to Arsenal, who are now fourth in the league, to one point.
In view of this, Man Utd’s points tally in Monday matches is also encouraging. The Red Devils have won a total of 44 of 68 Monday matches in their PL history and thus have the best win rate (64.70 %) in the English top flight. If the next victory beckons, odds of 1.62 are paid out for tip 1 on Manchester United vs Wolverhampton.
Ralf Rangnick will have to do without Lindelöf and Pogba for the home match against Wolves. There is also a big question mark over whether Martial will play. However, Bruno Fernandes is available again after his recent yellow suspension and is expected to take his place in the starting eleven.

Wolverhampton – Statistics & current form
After an enforced break of almost two weeks, Wolves are set to make their comeback on Monday night. Wolverhampton, who are eighth in the table, are the guests of their fearful opponents from Manchester and are aiming for a third consecutive point.
Before the long break, Wolves had already scored against the second-placed team from London and are therefore also confident about the away game in Manchester. Head coach Bruno Lage is counting on his team’s defensive bulwark. After all, the Wolves have statistically the third strongest defence in the league.
On the other hand, the attack was the big problem for the last-placed team in the league. Wolverhampton scored a total of only 13 goals in 18 match days and thus have the second weakest attacking department in the league. Only bottom-placed Norwich have had a worse goal tally so far, scoring just eight in the first half of the season.
Continues the away misery at Old Trafford?
Looking at Wolves’ recent away record, it would be more than surprising if Lage’s side pick up treble points in Monday’s game. Wolverhampton remained winless in four of their last five away games.
Among other things, the recent record at Old Trafford also argues against an underdog coup for Wolves. Wolverhampton have not scored an away goal at Man Utd since September 2018. Wolverhampton lost two of their three away games in that period.
Given their abysmal goal tally this season, it stands to reason that this negative trend will continue on Monday night. However, bettors looking to make a prediction on Manchester United vs Wolverhampton can pick up odds of up to 6.10 if they are successful.
Predicted Wolverhampton line-up:
Sa – Kilman, Coady, Saiss – Hoever, Neves, Moutinho, Marcal – Traore, Jimenez, Podence

Manchester United – Wolverhampton Direct comparison / H2H record
Competitively, this will be the 109th match between the two clubs. Manchester United lead the direct comparison so far with a record of 52-20-36. An average of 3.07 goals per game has been scored in the 108 competitive matches between the two clubs. Since April 2019, Manchester United have not lost any of their last seven competitive matches against Wolves.
Manchester United have even won four of their last five competitive matches. This includes match in the first leg of the current season, where Man Utd celebrated a narrow away win (1-0) at Wolverhampton. It was also the fifth match in the last six competitive matches in which Manchester United kept their clean sheet against Wolverhampton.
Manchester United – Wolverhampton Tip
For Wolves, meanwhile, there is no telling which players will actually be fit to play on Monday night after the long break from the game. Head coach Bruno Lage’s team, which was already short of replacements, had to spend two weeks in quarantine. Meanwhile, seven players are still in hospital.
The match against Manchester United is therefore not at all convenient for Lage’s squad. Especially as Monday’s opponents are among Wolves’ most feared opponents. Wolverhampton have not won an away game at Manchester United since February 1980. In the last ten away games – at league level, mind you – they have even suffered seven defeats.
Tentatively, we think a win for Man Utd is close this time as well. After all, there has been a clear upward trend for the Red Devils in recent weeks. Most recently, there have even been three home wins in a row, with Manchester United climbing to seventh place in the table.
If they continue their recent form, it is only a matter of time before Man Utd earn a place in the top flight. With a stake of seven units, we place our bet on Manchester United vs. Wolverhampton at odds of 2.40 on “HT/FT: 1/1”. A prediction on this has paid off in three of Man Utd’s nine home games.
