Everton visit fearful opponents from Manchester
Manchester City, as it lives and breathes. In the weeks before the international break, the Citizens were still going through a mini-crisis, which also led to their exit from the last 16 of the EFL Cup, but in the last two competitive games they showed an act of defiance. Among other things, Pep Guardiola’s squad also managed a derby win over “CR7” & Co.
In the English top flight, only three points separate the defending champions from Manchester from the leaders from London. It is therefore all the more important to build on the derby success against United and also win the upcoming home match against Everton FC. The match against the Toffees comes at a good time for the Citizens.
City have won eight consecutive games against their opponents. Last season, they even won by a landslide at the Etihad Stadium, where the Citizens swept the visitors from Liverpool out of their own stadium with 5:0.
the hosts from Manchester are clear favourites on Sunday. Quotes of only 1.21 are currently offered for a home win. If the Toffees win, on the other hand, odds of 17.00 are offered for tip 2 on Manchester City vs Everton.
Manchester City – Statistics & current form
The championship battle in the Premier League remains as exciting as ever. Eleven matchdays after the start of the season, it is difficult to determine a clear favourite in the title race, but a three-way battle between Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea seems to be brewing. The latter are currently still leading the table in the English top flight.
The defending champions from Manchester are in second place behind the Londoners. Although City have not had the best start to the season so far, only three points separate Pep Guardiola’s team from the top of the table. In the best possible scenario, there is already a chance to top the table this weekend.
To do so, Manchester City will not only have to do their own homework against Everton, but will also need help from Leicester City, who face the Blues from London this weekend. The match against Everton FC is also the dress rehearsal for the Citizens ahead of their showdown with PSG in the current group stage of the Champions League.
Defeat against Crystal Palace already digested?
At home, Manchester City have already lost a total of four home games in the Premier League this calendar year. The last time the Citizens lost more home games was in 2010, when they conceded five – in the Premier League, mind you – in one calendar year. Nevertheless, City still have a promising home record in the current Premier League.
After five home games, Pep Guardiola’s team has a record of 3-1-1, scoring a total of twelve goals and conceding only two. Both goals were conceded in the recent defeat against Crystal Palace (0:2).
The Citizens will be looking to get back to winning ways against Everton FC at the Etihad Stadium as they target a fourth consecutive home win over the Toffees. Manchester City are unbeaten against Sunday’s opponents from Liverpool since December 2010. Pep Guardiola is only expected to be without six players this weekend.
Among them is midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who had to go into quarantine during the international break. The recovered Jack Grealish is back in the squad.

Everton – Statistics & current form
From glimmer of hope to scapegoat – that’s how quickly the tide can turn for Rafa Benitez. The Spaniard folded with his side after a promising start to the season and squandered any momentum in the English top flight before the international break. Meanwhile, Benitez is already on the sidelines again.
If the form crisis worsens in the coming weeks, it is probably only a matter of time before the Toffees’ board pulls the ripcord and sacks the Spaniard. Before the recent draw against Spurs from London, there were three defeats in a row. The defeat against Watford FC was particularly serious, with Everton scoring five times in total.
In their current form, Benitez’s side will be in no mood for an away game in Manchester, especially as Sunday’s opponents are among the Toffees’ most feared opponents. Since August 2017, they have lost seven in a row to City in the English top flight.
Can Everton FC shake off their away slump?
Good chance the current negative streak will continue against City. Everton FC have hardly been convincing away from home so far. The Blues from Liverpool have only won two of their last nine away games. In the last four away games Everton remained winless and conceded a total of eight goals.
That means an average of two goals conceded per away game. The current absences in central defence are therefore all the more serious. Benitez will not have two centre-backs available this weekend. Mina is out through injury, while Holgate will miss at least one more match after his recent dismissal.
In addition, four other players are currently in the Toffees’ hospital. In midfield, Doucouré, Davies and Gomes have to rest. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, one of the Blues’ most prolific scorers, is missing up front. Betting fans who still want to make a prediction on Manchester City vs. Everton can pick up attractive odds if they are successful.
Predicted Everton line-up:
Pickford – Coleman, Godfrey, Keane, Digne – Townsend, Allan, Delph, Iwobi – Gray – Richarlison

11/07 2021 – Everton 0 – 0 Tottenham
11/01 2021 – Wolverhampton 2 – 1 Everton
10/23 2021 – Everton 2 – 5 Watford
10/17 2021 – Everton 0 – 1 West Ham
10/02 2021 – Manchester United 1 – 1 Everton
Manchester City – Everton Direct Comparison / H2H Record
Competitively, this will be the 192nd meeting between the two clubs. Manchester City are ahead in the head-to-head comparison against Everton FC with a record of 76-47-68. The last time Everton FC hosted the Citizens, they suffered an away debacle at the Etihad Stadium, conceding as many as five goals.
It was Everton’s seventh successive defeat to City in the Premier League. The Liverpool Blues have conceded a total of 21 goals in that period. It is Everton’s second longest losing streak in the English top flight. Only against Manchester United were there more defeats (9) than against the Citizens from December 1999 to February 2004.
Manchester City – Everton Tip
Everton are still in freefall and now face the tough away hurdle in Manchester in their current form. Sunday’s opponents have suffered nothing but defeats in recent seasons. The Liverpool Blues have not scored against Manchester City since August 2017.
Last season, Everton FC were even dismantled at the Etihad Stadium, conceding a total of five goals against City. It was the Toffees’ third successive away defeat at Manchester City. It is quite possible that the next defeat will follow on Sunday.
Meanwhile, given the visitors’ current form, there are hardly any arguments in favour of Everton FC taking a point. We expect a one-sided match on Sunday, which will be clearly dominated by the hosts from Manchester even before the break.
Therefore, we place our bet on Manchester City vs. Everton at good odds of “HT/FT: 1/1”. Because the Citizens already swept the visitors from Liverpool out of the Etihad Stadium with 5:0 last season, we choose a confident stake of seven units for our prediction on the host.
