Will Bilbao score in Mallorca?
Athletic Bilbao are still fighting for international starting rights after 31 matchdays in the Spanish top flight. The Basques are currently separated by just three points from sixth and thus last place, which entitles them to participate in international competition next season. Three points in Mallorca will bring Bilbao level on points with the sixth-placed team.
The last time the Lions from the Basque Country won a match away from home was in December 2012 at RCD Mallorca. Since then, there has been one draw and one defeat at the Mallorcans.
In the English week, both clubs lost. Mallorca lost 3-1 at Atletico Madrid, while the Basques were defeated by stumbling Sevilla FC despite home advantage. Athletic Bilbao will be looking to make amends away from home, building on their recent away form.
The Basques have not lost any of their last four league games away from home. Most recently, there were even three wins in a row. Although RCD Mallorca have only lost four of their last 15 league games in front of their home crowd, we don’t think it’s at all far-fetched to predict a point win for the Basque visitors between Mallorca vs Athletic Bilbao. Since February 2011, Bilbao have lost just once in La Liga against the Mallorcans.
Mallorca – statistics & current form
Computationally, RCD Mallorca has not yet fixed the class preservation in La Liga, however, the Mallorcans have at least already cracked the mark of 40 points and are thus – at least according to the myth – for the time being no longer in danger of relegation. It therefore remains to be seen how the Pirates from Mallorca will perform in the final spurt of the season.
Head coach Javier Aguirre’s team recently suffered a bitter defeat in Madrid. Against the third-placed Atléti, the Mallorcans were really shown up and conceded a 1:3 defeat after leading 1:0 in the meantime. For the first time in four league games, Aguirre’s side failed to pick up a point.
Monday night is now the 32nd matchday in La Liga for RCD Mallorca, where the Pirates may face the next setback. After all, Bilbao is not one of the favorite opponents of the Mallorcans. For almost twelve years, Mallorca has won only one of the last eleven competitive duels against the upcoming opponent from the Basque Country.
Mallorca with a strong home record this calendar year
Mallorca’s home strength has become a factor in their success since the World Cup break. This calendar year, the Pirates have lost only one of eight home games in La Liga. RCD Mallorca even won five of those eight encounters. Surprisingly, the only defeat in this period came against bottom-placed FC Elche (0:1).
Also encouraging ahead of the upcoming league match is the recent home H2h with the Basques. Since January 2007, the Mallorcans have only lost once to Bilbao in La Liga. Betting enthusiasts who are leaning towards a point win for the Pirates this time around can pick up decent betting odds on Mallorca vs Athletic Bilbao.
Head coach Aguirre has no major personnel worries to complain about. At the moment, only two players, Gonzalez and Luna, are on the sick list of the Majorcans. Nastasic and Augustinsson, on the other hand, are still a question mark.

Athletic Bilbao – Statistics & current form
Athletic Bilbao smells the chance for the international starting place. After Betis’ defeat at FC Barcelona, the Basques’ gap to sixth place in the table remains unchanged. Bilbao therefore has the chance to draw level on points with Betis with a win at RCD Mallorca and thus – the Basques have the better goal difference – to take sixth place.
For the traditional club from the Basque Country, it would also be the first win at RCD Mallorca since December 2012. In La Liga, Bilbao won the last three away games in a row and therefore also goes into the match against the Mallorcans with a broad chest. With a record of 6-4-5, the Basques are statistically the fifth strongest away team in the Spanish top flight.
If the winning streak continues away from home on Monday night, Mallorca vs. Athletic Bilbao betting odds of 2.30 are available for a tip on the Basque guests.
Can Bilbao crack the defensive bulwark of the Mallorcans?
The match against RCD Mallorca will be marked above all by the offensive performance. In the first half of the season, Bilbao had a tough time against the Mallorcan defense and failed to score. Bets on a low-scoring encounter are therefore by no means outlandish this time either.
In the ranks of the Lions, a total of three players will miss the Monday match. Apart from the injured Muniain and Morcillo also the Gelbgesperrtte Sancet is not available. The 23-year-old is one of the most important players in the offensive game of the Basques and has already scored eight goals this season.
His absence is likely to be felt in the upcoming league match. It is expected that the youngster will be replaced in the offense by Vencedor. Compared to the last starting eleven, otherwise no major changes are expected. Bilbao did not leave a bad impression in the 0:1 against Sevilla FC. Only the chances were not as good as they should have been.

Mallorca – Athletic Bilbao Direct comparison / H2H balance
This is the 66th time the two clubs have met. Bilbao leads the H2h against the Mallorcans with a record of 31-15-19. Since February 2011, the Basques have lost only once against Mallorca in La Liga. For that, in the last nine league duels, there was a record of 5-3-1 for the Basques, with the only defeat conceded away from home.
In the first leg of the current season, there was a goalless draw between the two clubs. Thus, for the first time since September 2019, there was no goal in a league clash between Mallorca and Bilbao.
Mallorca – Athletic Bilbao Tip
RCD Mallorca has already fought its way out of the bottom of the table and remains in the mid-table of the league, even after the defeat in Madrid. In contrast, Monday’s opponents Bilbao recently suffered a major setback in the Spanish top flight. With the defeat against FC Sevilla, the Basques lost their chance to finish sixth.
Bilbao’s next chance now comes against the Mallorcan side. Because FCB has already provided support and won against Betis, Bilbao can draw level on points with a win on Monday evening and thus take sixth place in La Liga. It would also be the fourth away win in a row for the traditional Basque club.
As in the first half of the season, we expect a hard-fought encounter between Mallorca and Bilbao. An offensive spectacle can be ruled out, as the Mallorcans have only cracked the three-goal mark in three of their 15 home games this season. It is quite possible that bets on under 2.5 goals will pay off this time as well.
We dare a tip on “X2 & Under 2.5” for Mallorca vs. Athletic Bilbao and bet five units for it. Monday’s match is far more important for the Basque guests than for Mallorca. Therefore, it would not be surprising at all if Bilbao secures a point at the Mallorcans in their current away form.
