Do the Reds take a step out of the crisis in the derby?
On Monday evening, the Merseyside derby takes place once again at Anfield Road. For both teams, the city duel has a very special meaning.
While the struggling home side are desperate for a win to boost their confidence and end the negative run of recent weeks, the Toffees will be looking to confirm their positive impressions from the previous week under new coach Sean Dyche.
Despite the different starting positions and approaches, it is quite understandable that lower odds are offered for the bet on the home win before the Liverpool vs Everton encounter. The fact is that the Reds have lost only one of their last 22 home Premier League games against their city rivals.
In order to make a suitable prediction between Liverpool and Everton, however, it must also not be neglected that the team of coach Jürgen Klopp has not yet been able to win a single league match in the calendar year 2023.
The 2020 champions have even failed to score three times in a row in the league. Nevertheless, we are optimistic that this misery will come to an end on Monday evening. However, Mo Salah and Co. can expect a complicated test of patience.
Liverpool – Statistics & current form
More and more experts are passing a damning judgement on Liverpool Football Club in these weeks and months. Especially the playing potential as well as the squad width often does not really come off well. It already seems clear that the Reds will have to spend a lot of money in the summer to strengthen the team in some positions.
It’s just a shame that the club’s bargaining position won’t be particularly good, as they won’t be represented in either the Champions League or the Europa League as of now. At the moment, they are only in tenth place in the intermediate rankings. They are ten points behind the sixth-placed team, although the 2019 Champions League winners have to be given credit for having played three matches fewer than their direct rivals. The Klopp eleven should therefore definitely not be written off.
Offensively too harmless, defensively too vulnerable
It is also clear, however, that LFC must improve significantly, especially offensively. While the defence has been harshly criticised so far this season, the attacking department has recently fallen short of expectations. The Reds have failed to score in three league games in a row. None of the last four Premier League matches was won. In the same period, the Reds have lost three matches and conceded three goals in each of the defeats.
The aforementioned harmlessness in the forward play can also be underlined by two personal details. Darwin Nunez is the player who has scored the most goals after the World Cup without crossing the goal line.
Mo Salah has also not scored at all in 2023. But there is always hope for the Egyptian, after all he is a real home expert. In 99 Premier League games in front of his own fans, Salah has been involved in 103 goals.

Everton – Statistics & current form
Obviously, it took the sacking of Frank Lampard for hope to return at the Toffees. Under new coach Sean Dyche, who for years at Burnley was able to celebrate maximum success in the form of staying in the Premier League with manageable financial means, the Blues celebrated a hardly thought possible success in their very first match.
Everton beat leaders Arsenal 1-0 at home to record their first win in eight Premier League games (six defeats, two draws). In terms of the standings, the result meant that the Toffees were able to close the gap to the relegation zone and are now just one point behind the bottom of the table. The situation in the blue part of Liverpool is nevertheless tense. More successes are needed.
Is Dyche making Merseyside history?
But in the Merseyside derby of all places, the record for new Everton coaches reads anything but good. Only two of the Toffees’ last 22 coaches have won their first city clash against Liverpool FC. Sean Dyche could also become the first ever manager to win his first Merseyside clash at Anfield Road. However, the chances are not particularly good. This is also proven by the Liverpool vs. Everton odds on the three-way market.
In terms of tactics, we can once again expect a team that is primarily defensive. Dyche’s approach is one of intensity, strength and passion. We would therefore not be surprised if the odds on a goalless first half between Liverpool and Everton prove to be true.
Last games played by Everton:

04/02/2023 – Everton 1 – 0 Arsenal FC
21/01/2023 – West Ham 2 – 0 Everton

Liverpool – Everton Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
This is the 208th Merseyside derby in the English top flight. LFC have won 80 of them so far. They lead the direct comparison. 69 matches have ended in a draw, while Everton have prevailed on 58 occasions.
However, the Toffees have only won one of the past 22 PL away games at Anfield Road. The first leg, incidentally, ended in a tired 0-0 draw. There have been more goalless draws in England’s top league than between the two clubs from the Beatles City. We do expect two or three goals on Monday night though.
Liverpool – Everton Tip
Liverpool Football Club make their next attempt to somehow extricate themselves from their predicament on Monday night. In 2023, the Reds are still waiting for their first Premier League success. The construction sites of a sporting nature are manifold. On the offensive, some key players are running behind their own form, and defensively, the Klopp team has actually had problems throughout the entire season.
It is quite understandable that the betting odds between Liverpool and Everton are clearly in favour of the Reds. After all, Klopp’s team is stronger at home. It also remains to be seen whether the relegation candidates from the blue part of town can confirm their performance from the previous week. It’s not for nothing that the Toffees are in a relegation spot in the standings.
In our eyes, it therefore makes sense to combine the tip on the home win with the under 4.5 before the Liverpool vs. Everton derby. Betano offers attractive odds of 1.85 for this, which we play with six units. We expect a narrow triumph, which will probably be secured late in the game. It will be 0:0 for a long time beforehand.
