Will United struggle at Leicester too?
Traditionally, football writes its own stories. It would certainly be one of those should Cristiano Ronaldo score for his new (old) club Manchester United at Leicester City this weekend. It will be only the second time in his career that the Portuguese will be on the pitch against the surprise champions of 2016. If he scores, the Foxes will be the 120th club CR7 has faced in professional football
This assumption is not particularly far-fetched, by the way, as the lowest odds are offered on Ronaldo as the goalscorer ahead of the Leicester v Manchester United clash.
A surprise for the home side does not seem out of the question. Although Rodgers’ side have regularly fallen short of their own expectations, United are now a kind of “favourite opponent”. The fact that this designation is in inverted commas also has a meaning, because only in the most recent duels have the Foxes tended to have the edge. Will the home side now lose touch with the top flight or will they score a big point against a Red Devils team that is anything but in good form?
Leicester – Statistics & current form
Leicester City cannot and will not be happy at all with the way they have performed so far this season. In the first seven matchdays, the Foxes could record just two victories. It is also significant that these two victories came in the first three games.
The team of coach Brendan Rodgers has now waited four Premier League matches for a full success. This equates to the longest negative streak since February 2019, then under Frenchman Claude Puel. Add to that the miserable start to the Europa League group stage, which has seen just one point come from two games.
With Vardy and stabilised defence to surprise
You could be forgiven for thinking that the international break came at exactly the right time to recharge their batteries, address grievances and hit the reset button. On Saturday, the Northern Irish coach, who has also been talked about as a potential successor to Guardiola at Manchester City, expects a clear reaction. However, the task will not be any easier in front of a home crowd against ManUtd.
The fact that the supposed underdogs could win three competitive games against the record champions for the first time in more than 100 years speaks in their favour. For this to happen, however, the defence will have to improve, as keeper Schmeichel has only managed to keep a clean sheet once in the past 13 Premier League matches. In the last four matches he has conceded two goals each time.
Another positive factor for the weekend is Jamie Vardy, who has not forgotten how to score at the age of 35. The former international striker has scored in each of his last three Premier League games and is also expected to pull the attacking coals out of the fire on Saturday. Meanwhile, the injured Fofana, Justin and Ndidi are not available.
Predicted Leicester line-up:
Schmeichel; Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Bertrand; Lookman, Soumare, Tielemans, Barnes; Vardy, Iheanacho

Manchester United – Statistics & current form
No other club in England currently possesses as much charisma as Manchester United. At the same time, however, no other club is as critically eyed as the record champion. From a purely tabular point of view, the Red Devils are in fourth place, only two points behind the leaders – but one hundred percent satisfaction looks very different.
This is primarily due to the recent results. Before the international break, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. lost 1-0 at home to Aston Villa and then had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Everton. In the Champions League, it took a last-minute goal to land the all-important treble at home to Villarreal.
Manchester United aim to make it 30
The more reassured those responsible for coach Solskjaer, who continues to be criticised, can be that they will be able to make another away trip on Saturday. United have not lost in the Premier League for 29 (!) consecutive matches (19 wins, ten draws). The top club has never conceded more than one goal in the last 15 games away from home. It can therefore be concluded without a doubt that the odds on a home win in the Leicester v Manchester United clash are rightly high.
With all due respect for the impressive series, however, it should not be forgotten that all away games this season have been extremely close. In addition to a 1-1 draw at Southampton, there have been two narrow victories against Wolverhampton and West Ham. In both cases, a draw would not have been completely undeserved. For this reason, we are not averse to making a prediction on the double chance 1X between Leicester and Manchester United. In the past, the home side has often turned out to be a scare tactic for the favourites.
A further complication for Solskjaer’s side is that Varane and Maguire, the two regular centre-backs, are likely to be out injured. Fred and Cavani are also unavailable. Instead, ex-Dortmund man Jadon Sancho can look forward to one of his so far rather rare chances from the start.
Predicted Manchester United line-up:
De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo

Leicester – Manchester United Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
We have to go back to 1973 to find the last time Leicester City beat Manchester United twice in a row in the league. Now the record of almost 50 years ago could fall. Because the Foxes prevailed at Old Trafford in the 36th matchday in pre-season, a second league victory in a row now beckons. However, City have not won at home since 2014 against the global club from the industrial city.
Leicester – Manchester United Tip
On paper, the match between Leicester City and Manchester United still reads like a cracker. However, in terms of the table, only the 13th and the fourth are facing each other. However, we think it would be wrong to assume that the visitors will win the match.
Although Solskjaer’s team is favoured, the betting odds between Leicester and Manchester United suggest that they will give the home side a good home game. We can also see coach Brendan Rodgers’ side keeping at least a point at the King Power Stadium.
The fact that the Foxes have won their two most recent cross-competition clashes against United and are desperate to make amends after a current poor run of four games in a row without a win is a case in point. The visitors, on the other hand, have an impressive away record of 29 consecutive unbeaten PL matches, but they have not covered themselves in glory either.
We therefore opt for the double chance 1/X bet between Leicester and Manchester United. The highest odds can be played at Comeon
