Juventus will be looking for revenge for their league defeats
It’s a special situation Juventus find themselves in. In the Champions League, the Bianconeri have so far achieved good results, but the form clearly speaks against the Vecchia Signora. In the league, one slip-up follows the next
Before the match between Juventus and Zenit St. Petersburg, however, the betting odds indicate a clear favourite role for the hosts. At least historically, there is a lot to be said for Juventus, although that does not apply to their current form. But it must always be emphasised that the top flight is a completely different competition to the league.
A win for the Bianconeri would give them more confidence again. The club from Italy also needs that. Zenit, on the other hand, are clinging to their last chance to progress. Kick-off is on Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Juventus – Statistics & current form
Not only did the once-great Juventus Turin not play too big a role last season, but there is little greatness to be seen under experienced coach Massimiliano Allegri this season. The Bianconeri have problems in almost all parts of the team and do not play exhilarating football. They have failed to win three games in a row in Serie A. Most recently, they have lost two matches. Most recently, they even lost two in a row – against Sassuolo and Hellas.
However, the previous performances in the Champions League are encouraging. Juventus won all three games without conceding a goal. In Serie A, however, the team only scored twice. So the defence is basically still a problem. The Bianconeri’s role as favourites, which is clear, is based on their form in the top flight and their individual qualities.
However, the Allegri team has not provided any spectacle in its appearances in Europe so far. 3:0, 1:0, 1:0: minimalism is back at Juventus. Because of these results and the overall not exhilarating form, before the game Juventus vs. Zenit St.
the following reads
Juventus: Good home record in the premier class
It is interesting to note that Juventus are one of the teams with the weakest passing statistics in the Champions League. However, the fact that the Bianconeri have won eight of their last nine home games in the top flight is encouraging for the match against their Russian opponents. This is a very positive trend.
Another victory in the Champions League definitely means safe progression in this competition. That would be the first major goal that this team could achieve in 2021/22. The Champions League is a kind of alternative programme for the really weak league performances. Moreover, this opponent seems to suit the team, in three games in the Champions League Juventus remained unbeaten and without conceding a goal against Zenit St. Petersburg.
There should be some changes compared to the weekend. De Ligt is a candidate for the defence, Locatelli should be an important player to stabilise in midfield.

Szczesny – Cuadrado, Bonucci, de Ligt, Alex Sandro – Bentancur, Locatelli, McKennie – Chiesa, Bernardeschi, Dybala

Zenit St. Petersburg – Statistics & current form
Zenit St. Petersburg are not doing too well in the top flight at the moment. The team from the Russian Premjer Liga is still on course for third place thanks to a win against Malmö, but advancing will be a difficult task. In Turin, therefore, the motto must be: “All or nothing”.
The Russians have a team with some interesting players, especially on the offensive. However, they failed to score at home against Juventus in the first leg and Zenit’s players did not come close either. Such a match could well happen again, which is why it is quite conceivable that not both teams will score in this match.
Another point to consider can be seen when looking at Zenit St. Petersburg’s away statistics in the top flight. Eight of their last nine games away from home have been lost, a rate that needs to improve.
Zenit must build on their performances in the league
The situation is much better for Zenit St. Petersburg in the domestic league. The team is in first place in the table and unchallenged. With 34 goals from 13 games, Zenit has the best offence in the domestic league and it is all the more astonishing that this cannot be seen internationally, at least in rudimentary form, if the Malmö game is excluded.
The games against Spartak and Dinamo Moscow (7:1, 4:1) recently underlined Zenit’s dominance at home. Internationally, however, it is clearly different, which is why our tip before the Juventus vs. Zenit St. Petersburg match is that the hosts will win this game.
Predicted line-up of Zenit St. Petersburg:
Kritsyuk – Rakitskiy, Lovren, Chistyakov – Sutormin, Barrios, Wendel, Karavaev – Claudinho, Azmoun, Dyuba

Juventus – Zenit St. Petersburg Direct comparison / H2H record
As already indicated, there have been three duels between these clubs so far. Twice Juventus won 1:0, once the match ended in a draw. Zenit St. Petersburg are therefore still waiting for their first goal in a clash with the Bianconeri.
Juventus – Zenit St. Petersburg tip
Juventus are not playing a very good season, but their performances in the league and in the European Cup can be separated so far. The hosts are in the favourites’ role and with a focused performance, it is very conceivable that they can achieve their fourth win in their fourth game
Zenit St. Petersburg does not have a bad team, but the final step to upset the favourites in this group has not been achieved so far. Added to that are weak statistics, especially away from home. Therefore, before the match between Juventus and Zenit St. Petersburg, our tip is that the hosts will win.
