The Brazilian midfielder returns to the Premier League, where he played for Aston Villa from 2019 to 2024. Now waiting for Kolo Muani and the addition of an attacking midfielder
An important step in the transfer market for Juventus. The Bianconeri have finalized the loan with an obligation to buy Douglas Luiz from Nottingham Forest for a fee of around €30-35 million, including bonuses. The requirement for the Brazilian’s permanent transfer next summer could be linked to his appearances with the team owned by Greek shipowner Marinakis. The Brazilian midfielder will thus return to the Premier League, the last place where he was happy and decisive. The 27-year-old from Rio de Janeiro ended last season with 27 appearances in all competitions for Juve, without scoring or providing an assist, missing 18 games through injury. Between 2019 and 2024, he played 212 games for Aston Villa, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists.
The deal, which could generate a capital loss for the Bianconeri (the amortization cost as of June 30 was €38.8 million), allows Juventus CEO Damien Comolli to free up resources and space in the squad. The first move for Juve will be to bring Kolo Muani back to Turin.
Douglas Luiz’s gross salary (€9.25 million) will be transferred in full to the French center forward, with whom an agreement has been in place for some time. Despite being on the fringes of Luis Enrique’s squad for a month, the PSG striker has never considered any alternative offers to that of Juventus. With Al Khelaifi’s club, on the other hand, there is a preliminary agreement for a loan (of $10 million) with a virtually certain obligation (linked to easily achievable conditions) in 2026 for $35-40 million.
Juve, target O’Riley— But the departure of Douglas Luiz also forces Juve to add a midfielder to Tudor’s squad, preferably one with characteristics that allow him to play both between the two central midfielders and in the attacking midfield. The profile matches that of Brighton’s Matt O’Riley: 25 years old, he was bought 12 months ago by Brighton for 27 million from Celtic. Juventus CEO Comolli will try to sign him on loan in the final days of the transfer window. Linked to the departure of Nico Gonzalez, however, are deals that could bring the following players to Turin:
