With a win on the first matchday, the first step would have been completed. The second matchday brings Guadeloupe as an opponent. The top duel takes place on the last matchday against Costa Rica. To the extent that a look at the odds is taken, it can be stated that Jamaica is quite entitled to the second place in the table and thus to reach the knockout round. In order to achieve this goal, however, a good result in the first match is undoubtedly desirable.
Most recently, the Jamaicans only played friendly matches. A total of four at a time. Only one victory could be won. This jumped out of Saudi Arabia in November last year after a 2-1 victory. However, the first leg against the Saudis was lost 0-3. Another defeat had to be accepted after a 1:4 defeat to the USA. Most recently, the points were shared with Serbia after a draw.
Jamaica also won promotion in the CONCACAG Nations League. In Division B Group C, five victories and a draw were won against Guyana, Antigua & Barbuda and Aruba. A whopping 21 goals were scored and the defence only had to concede one goal. The promotion to League A is thus achieved.
At the last Gold Cup, Jamaica was able to make the jump to the semi-finals. There, it defeated the United States 1:3. So leaving was a matter of decision. Jamaica has been in the final twice. In both games, however, the team pulled out the shortcut and had to admit defeat.

In terms of group victory, Suriname takes on the role of a clear outsider. The competition with Costa Rica and Jamaica just seems a bit too big. In the end, it seems as if there is a struggle between Suriname and Guadeloupe in the battle for third place. After the first match against Jamaica was played, it has to be passed on the second matchday against Costa Rica. The final day of the match will then be played against Guadeloupe. With a good result against Jamaica, self-confidence would be gained for the tasks to come.
Most recently, Suriname played in the course of the World Cup qualification. However, the last matchday brought a more than clear 0-4 defeat to Canada. However, the first three group games were won. In the process, the Cayman Islands scored 3-0. Afterwards, Aruba and Bermuda were defeated by 6-0 each. Coach Dean Gorré’s team finished in second place behind Canada with nine points.
The Surinam national football team has competed twice in the Gold Cup. Couldn’t do much in the competition, though. Also this time, the elf will go to the start as a clear underdog.
