The Portuguese score 3 goals in regulation time and then complete the comeback in extra time. The adventure of the Norwegians who had eliminated the Nerazzurri

ends.

Some nights everything becomes possible. Regardless of how it goes, Sporting has written one of the most memorable pages in Champions League history. Despite a 3-0 loss in Norway, the Portuguese won with a clear 5-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt at the end of an absurd 120 minutes, in which Rui Borges’ team succeeded in that feat failed by Inter. For Sporting it is the second quarterfinal qualification in its history in this competition, after the previous one in 1983.

The match-  The direction of the match is already clear from the first minutes. Suarez commits Haikin in the 11th minute, Sporting unlocks the match after the half-hour mark with Inacio’s header from a corner kick (34′). Bodo/Glimt responded with Bjortuft, who tried to return the favor, but his shot hit the crossbar twice before the defense pulled away. The double was sealed by Gonçalves, at the end of a splendid restart triggered by Catamo and finished by Suarez (61′). It was the latter who tied the overall tally, converting in the 77th minute the penalty awarded for Bjorkan’s hand touch. In the final period the siege does not cause results, Haikin is very good at opposing on Suarez and Trincao, while on Nuno Santos’ shot he is saved by the post. So it goes to extra time, which opens with Araujo’s seal, surprising the goalkeeper at the first post after Trincao’s support. Bodo/Glimt’s undoing was resolved in the second overtime: ball lost on the way out, Nel slotted Haikin’s powerful right-footed shot under the crossbar.
