Is there nothing to be gained for the old lady again?
Hertha BSC are still struggling to turn things around under Tayfun Korkut. Instead of lifting the capital club out of the cellar, the 47-year-old has made the weakest start since Otto Rehhagel (eight points from nine games in 2012) with only nine points from the first nine league games. And now, of all times, RB Leipzig, a fearsome opponent, will be playing at the Olympiastadion.
The red bulls have only lost one of their eleven competitive games against the old lady (nine wins, one draw) and have won every single match at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. In the run-up to the clash between Hertha and RB Leipzig, the odds are clearly in favour of the visitors.
The current form is also clearly against the “Big City Club”. Hertha are the only Bundesliga team apart from VfB Stuttgart still winless in the second half of the season (two draws, three defeats) and are in 17th place in the second-round table. By comparison, the Saxons are in second place with twelve points out of a possible 15.
In our opinion, there is no alternative to betting on the next away win for the red bulls against RB Leipzig.
Hertha – Statistics & current form
Hertha BSC continue to be in deep crisis. The two-time German champions (1930 and 1931), who actually wanted to re-establish themselves in the upper third of the Bundesliga table in the medium term, are once again in a relegation battle in 14th place.
With only one point separating them from the relegation zone, any continuation of the current negative streak could result in a drop below the bottom line. The situation is correspondingly tense after six games in a row without a win (two draws, four defeats).
21 goals conceded in ten competitive games under Tayfun Korkut
With a poor start of only nine points from the first nine games, Dárdái’s successor Tayfun Korkut has also been criticised early on, especially as defensive stability is still lacking.
In the ten games under the 47-year-old’s leadership alone, the old lady conceded 21 goals. In the Bundesliga, Hertha have conceded a total of 45 goals and have the second-weakest defence of all 18 Bundesliga teams, behind last-place Fürth.
Nil points from five Bundesliga home games against RB Leipzig
Counted, the Capitals go into the home game against one of the teams of the hour, against whom, to make matters worse, they have yet to pick up a single point out of a possible 15 in five Bundesliga home games.
It is true that the Berliners have won four of their six league games at home in the Olympiastadion. In view of their poor form, the desolate record against the Saxons and the current seven injury-related absences, the “Big City Club” is nevertheless the glaring outsider in their own stadium.

RB Leipzig – Statistics & current form
At the start of the league, RB Leipzig also fell well short of their potential. Consequently, the question of the coach also arose early on for the red bulls in their sixth year in the Bundesliga.
In contrast to Hertha, however, the change of coach paid off for the Saxons. Domenico Tedesco quickly showed a completely different style, which obviously suited the squad better. RBL won four of their last five league games and returned to a Champions League starting place.
Only one win in last 13 Bundesliga away games
After the recent 3:1 home victory over Cologne, who were in good form, the Saxons are in the top four for the first time ever in the 2021/22 season – and thus in a position that corresponds to the declared minimum target.
Now it is a matter of defending this position against the numerous pursuers and setting the course for qualification for the top flight at an early stage. To do so, however, Tedesco’s team must also get a grip on their recent weakness on the road. The red bulls have won only one of their last 13 away games in the Bundesliga (four draws, eight defeats).
Scored twice in all eleven league games against Hertha
The first away win, which also ended the negative streak, was just in January at VfB Stuttgart, which is why Hertha’s betting on another three-goal win away from home against RB Leipzig is under favourable omens. After all, the reigning runners-up have always scored twice in their eleven competitive games against the Berliners.
During the week, the Saxons sold themselves quite well in the Europa League against Real Sociedad (2:2) despite slight defensive errors and still have a chance of winning the title in this competition as well as in the DFB Cup, where Hannover 96 await them in March.
Predicted line-up of RB Leipzig:
Gulasci – Angelino – Gvardiol – Orban – Simakan – Klostermann – Haidara – Laimer – Nkunku – Poulsen – Silva

Hertha – RB Leipzig Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
Head to head: 1 – 1 – 9
Eleven times the two teams have faced each other in a competitive match so far and nine of all eleven duels have gone to the Saxons, who celebrated a 6-0 thumping of Hertha in the first leg on 25 September 2021. Away at the Olympiastadion, RBL have even won every single one of their five away games at the Old Lady so far.
Hertha – RB Leipzig Tip
When it comes to Hertha against RB Leipzig, the prediction basically goes very clearly in the direction of the visitors. The Saxons have recently experienced a dry spell away from home, winning only one of their last 13 away games. Under Domenico Tedesco, however, this supposed weakness away from home was no longer an issue, which is why we see the red bulls as the clear favourites against the form-weak capital city side.
After all, the Red Bulls have won every single one of their five Bundesliga games so far at the Old Lady, so we would recommend a direct bet on the Saxons in this match.
