Can the old lady extend her unbeaten streak?
At the start of the season, near-relegated Hertha BSC could only win one of their first seven league games. The last time the old lady had so few wins from the first seven games, they were relegated at the end of the season (2009/10). Recently, however, there has been an upward trend. The capital city side remained unbeaten in three consecutive league games (one win, two draws).
Now, however, in-form Baden-Württemberger are guests at the Olympiastadion. TSG have already won four league games and are in fourth place. Moreover, the old lady suits the Sinsheimers. Hoffenheim have won ten of their last 18 league games against Berlin (four draws, four defeats). Accordingly, the odds on Hertha against Hoffenheim swing in the direction of the visitors.
Despite this, it is anything but easy to place a bet on the outcome of the match between Hertha and Hoffenheim. After all, the Baden-Württemberger arrive with a lousy away record. TSG have only won one of their last seven Bundesliga away games (one draw, five defeats). Accordingly, a home win for the capital is not out of the question.
This makes it all the more interesting to bet on goals being scored on both sides in this match. This also takes into account the good overall form of both teams.
Hertha – Statistics & current form
At the end of another very complicated 2021/22 season, Hertha BSC just about saved themselves in the relegation play-off. This means that the “Big City Club”, which in recent years had actually still formulated the claim of wanting to be back in the international mix, will remain in the top flight for the tenth year in a row.
The fact that many old problems still exist, however, flashed through from the beginning under Magath’s successor Sandro Schwarz. The old lady failed to win the DFB Cup against Braunschweig, who were promoted to the second division, and then only picked up one of twelve possible points from the first four league games.
Last unbeaten in three league games in a row
But the Herthans then ended this drought with a 2-0 away win in Augsburg. Overall, the Berliners were even able to play a satisfactory September, in which none of the three league games were lost (one win, two draws).
The capital club wants to build on this in October and extend its unbeaten streak. Although the air in the bottom of the table is very thin, the old lady is still above the line in 13th place with six points.
The second-weakest chance conversion rate in the Bundesliga
Among other things, however, they have yet to record their first home win of the 2022/23 season, which is also due to the fact that they have only scored three goals at home. The Berliners thus have the fifth-weakest home attack in the Bundesliga.
There was certainly no lack of chances. On the contrary, the efficiency must increase massively. Only 10.1% of all chances have been converted into goals so far – the second-weakest figure in the league behind bottom-placed Bochum (7.1%). This means that the capital city team will only be the outsiders in their own stadium.
Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Christensen – Plattenhardt – Kempf – Uremovic – Kenny – Sunjic – Darida – Tousart – Ejuke – Kanga – Lukébakio

Hoffenheim – Statistics & current form
TSG Hoffenheim have been in the Bundesliga continuously since 2008 and last qualified for international competition in sixth place in the 2019/20 season. After two mixed seasons marked by injuries, which ended in the midfield of the table, an attack on the top six is to take place again in the new season.
At the moment, the Sinsheim team is right on track under new coach André Breitenreiter. Hoffenheim have won four of their first seven league games and, with 13 points out of a possible 21, have made their best start to a season in five years.
Won only one of last seven Bundesliga away games
However, the away record of the team from Kraichgau has also been unconvincing recently.
TSG have won just one of their last seven league games away from home (one draw, five defeats) and have picked up just four of a possible 21 points in this period.
The Baden-Württemberger have accordingly set their sights high for the guest game at the Olympiastadion, where they have won two of the last three away games. The Hoffenheimers have also scored in eleven of their last 13 league games against Berlin.
Nine different goalscorers already
Again, betting on goals on both sides in Hertha’s match against Hoffenheim is basically under a good star. Just like the capital, the club from Kraichgau is also strong in transition situations.
The only thing the Sinsheim side still lacks is a goal-scorer. The twelve goals scored in the league are spread over a total of nine shoulders, with no single player having scored more than two goals so far. However, it is precisely this versatility that makes TSG difficult to calculate.
Predicted line-up of Hoffenheim:
Baumann – Skov – Akpoguma – Vogt – Kabak – Kaderabek – Geiger – Baumgartner – Prömel – Kramaric – Rutter

Hertha – Hoffenheim Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
Head to head: 7 – 5 – 12
The two teams have faced each other a total of 24 times so far and exactly half of the twelve victories have gone to TSG Hoffenheim, who have also won three of the last four Bundesliga duels with the Old Lady. In their last meeting to date, however, Hertha BSC scored a brilliant 3-0 win at home in March 2022.
Hertha – Hoffenheim tip
The forecast for Hertha against Hoffenheim tends to go in the direction of the visitors from Kraichgau. However, TSG’s weakness away from home should not be ignored, as they have only managed to pick up four points from a possible 21 in their last seven Bundesliga away games. For the old lady, who recently remained unbeaten in three league games in a row, there could well be something to be gained in their own stadium.
Accordingly, it is coherent to avoid the three-way system and instead bet on goals on both sides. The Capitals also created a few chances in the end, but still need to hone their efficiency.
