Will Hertha confirm their first win of the season?
There is just no peace and quiet at Berlin Hertha these days. Although the capital club finally managed to clinch its first win of the current season at the fourth attempt last week, a rumour at the beginning of the week once again caused a lot of excitement around the ambitious “Big City Club”. Fredi Bobic is said to have contacted ex-Dortmund man Edin Terzic about a potential successor to Dardai.
Although the most powerful man in the club denied these media reports, a sour taste remains, which definitely makes the preparations for the important home match on Friday night a bit more difficult. Nevertheless, according to the odds, Hertha are fairly clear favourites against Fürth. The probability of victory is over 50%, so that there is much to suggest that the “old lady” could breathe a little easier, at least from a sporting point of view, with a possible second win in a row.
Apart from that, the Hertha vs. Fürth home win prediction is of course reinforced by the fact that the visitors from the south of the country have so far only been able to hint at their Bundesliga fitness. With only one point collected and the weakest goal difference of all 18 first division teams, the promoted team is currently in last place and has some pressure on the kettle in view of the difficult programme in the next few weeks. Football aesthetes might therefore be better advised to switch to the Newcastle vs. Leeds match in the Premier League on Friday night.
Germany Hertha – statistics & current form
The relief among the Berliners was clear to see last Sunday after the final whistle of the away game in Bochum. After a performance that was by no means glamorous, but very concentrated and, above all, efficient, the Dardai eleven won 3:1 and thus took the first three points of the current season. Suat Serdar scored a brace in the first half before Myziane Maolida made it 3-1 after Simon Zoller’s follow-up goal.
After four matches in a row without a win against promoted teams, this worrying series against Greuther Fürth was stopped. Due to the refuelled self-confidence and the at least somewhat more relaxed atmosphere after the important success, it is also understandable in our eyes that a tip on the home treble between Hertha and Fürth is quoting lower.
Hertha’s good experience with the Spielvereinigung
In addition, the “old lady” has not yet lost a single match in front of a home crowd against their upcoming opponents from Fürth. Most recently, the Berliners have not conceded a goal against the Franconians three times in a row. Statistically speaking, there is a definite chance that the current 16th-placed team will win two Bundesliga games in a row for the first time since May 2020
The only thing that continues to make the much-criticised Pal Dardai sweat is the personnel situation. With Jarstein, Torunarigha, Jovetic and Klünter, four potential regulars are out. Marton Dardai and Krzysztof Piatak are also still question marks. Will the capital see a return of calm or will the odds on Pal Dardai being the first coach to be sacked in the 2021/22 Bundesliga fall again after Hertha’s game against Fürth?
Predicted line-up of Hertha:
Schwolow – Stark, Boyata, M. Dardai – Zeefuik, Tousart, Darida, Plattenhardt – S. Serdar, M. Richter – Belfodil

Germany Fürth – Statistics & current form
Four games, one point, two goals and eleven conceded. This is how disastrous the record of the Spielvereinigung from Fürth reads so far. Incidentally, the last three teams to be promoted that had so few points at this early stage of the season were relegated at the end of the season. The last time a newcomer managed to stay in the Bundesliga with a similar haul was in 2006/2007. The omens for the White-Greens for the rest of the season are therefore anything but rosy from a statistical point of view.
The performances on the last two match days are also not a compelling encouragement for coach Stefan Leitl, as both the 0:3 in Mainz and the 0:2 in the previous week against Wolfsburg left the offensive without a goal. In both cases, the promoted team was already behind at half-time, which in turn speaks for the lack of quality and experience at the Franconian side.
Fürth are rightly in 18th place at the moment
Another argument that suggests a prediction on the home side in Hertha’s clash against Fürth is the fact that the Spielvereinigung has the highest number of expected goals against. It is therefore no coincidence that Leitl’s team is in last place and is also considered by the bookmakers to be the hottest candidate for direct relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga.
Many changes in the starting eleven are not to be expected. Defensively, it is quite possible that coach Leitl will rely on the same back four as last time against Wolfsburg. With the exception of Jung and Ngankam, who is on loan from Berlin, at least all players will be available. Max Christiansen could make his first start in midfield. However, that would be tantamount to rotating out the more attacking Nielsen.
Predicted line-up of Fürth:
Burchert – Meyerhöfer, M. Bauer, Viergever, Willems – Christiansen, Griesbeck – Seguin, Green – Hrgota, Itten

Hertha – Fürth Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
These two clubs are actually facing each other for the first time in the Bundesliga on Friday evening. In total, there have been nine meetings, of which the Berliners have won five. In addition, there have been three Fürth victories and only one draw. The Spielvereinigung has never won in the capital. Since 1981/82, the White-Greens have not been able to score against the “old lady”.
United Kingdom Hertha – Fürth United Kingdom Tipp
The kick-off of the fifth matchday in the Bundesliga will be the clash between Hertha and Fürth on Friday evening. The betting odds imply a relatively clear favourite role in favour of the Berliners, who won 3:1 in Bochum the previous week, their first three points of the current season.
The visitors from Franconia, meanwhile, are still waiting for their first win. One draw compares to three defeats. No team has conceded more goals than Leitl’s team, which has also only managed to score two goals. So far, the “cloverleaf” has failed to do much and we do not expect this to change on Friday evening.
We therefore decide between the Hertha and Fürth for the Tip on the home victory and can dust off a 1.75 in the top at Bet3000. A stake of six units is absolutely justifiable. What we can imagine, however, is that it will be a competitive match in which the “old lady” will need some patience to score. A somewhat riskier bet on the double result HTX/FT1 also promises an attractive value.
