Crisis summit in Granada
Just before Christmas, a crisis summit is on the program in the Spanish La Liga, because in Granada vs. Sevilla a bet on a success on both sides is not really credible due to recent almost chronic lack of success. Will one team be able to temporarily pull their heads out of the noose and enjoy a more peaceful holiday season?
Granada can be glad that they are playing their last game of the year in front of a home crowd, as they have basically done nothing away from home in recent months. Even if their record at home can also be categorized as “modest”, there is at least a chance of picking up a point here
However, the hosts may also benefit from the fact that the Champions League participants from Andalusia declared a state of crisis many weeks ago. The record EL winners are currently staggering through the league, badly battered and far from lucky. The much-anticipated relief that has been awaited for weeks has yet to materialize. We can only hope that the first league win since the end of September will finally happen
In the end, we are predicting an evenly poised match between Granada and Sevilla, with neither team likely to be able to take the game by a clear margin. We are curious to see which of the two teams can handle the current pressure situation better. One thing is already clear in advance: both teams urgently need a win!
Granada – statistics & current form
The last and so far only league win of the current season came on August 26, almost four months ago. It goes without saying that the relegation battle has long been an ever-present issue in southern Spain.
They have picked up just two points in their last eight competitive matches. Accordingly, it would be almost negligent to predict a win for the home team in Granada v Sevilla
Home games as a lifeline
While they have only managed a single point in their nine away games so far this season, they have only lost once at home in their last five games. The remaining four games have all ended in draws.
With an average of 1.5 goals scored at home, the scoring rate is also significantly higher than on the road. However, because they also concede more goals than they score in front of their own fans, betting on both sides to score is an option with good chances of success in Granada vs Sevilla.
Since the last two home games have both ended 1-1, this could be a good option as a result bet. Incidentally, they have yet to play a single league game without conceding a goal. The penultimate place in the table is no coincidence.
Predicted Granada line-up:
Sevilla – Statistics & current form
It desperately needs a win! For months now, the record Europa League winners have been going nowhere. The fact that they were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage and are currently level on points with a relegation place in the league has set alarm bells ringing.
The physically and, above all, mentally draining autumn has certainly left its mark and we seriously doubt that the hoped-for liberation will be achieved on the upcoming matchday. Hardly anything speaks in favor of an away win. Unsurprisingly, the betting odds for Granada vs. Sevilla are not necessarily on the side of the visitors
Still no away win in La Liga
Rakitic and Co. find traveling particularly difficult. The current points average in away games is 0.43 per game. This alone says a lot about their chances next Tuesday. After all, they have only conceded one goal in three of their last five away games and never more than two.
The draw has also become something of a standard result for the “Sevillistas” of late. Six of the last nine league games have ended in a draw, with the final score of the last three draws always being 1-1.
New coach and many injuries
The signature of Diego Alonso, who has been in charge since October, has not yet come into its own and the next change of coach is already on the cards. The fact that numerous key players are currently questionable makes things even more difficult. Bade, Acuna, Navas, Lukebakio, Lamela and a number of others are all questionable.
The understrength visitors are not a good bet for Granada v Sevilla, as their recent performances have been sobering.
Predicted Sevilla line-up:
Granada – Sevilla head-to-head comparison / H2H result
Of the 47 meetings between the two teams so far, Sevilla have won more than half of them, 25 times to be precise. In contrast, Granada have won 17, while eight games have ended in a draw. In the recent past, the home team has always had a significant advantage, with the last home defeat in this clash coming over four years ago. Granada will therefore be hoping to pick up a point
Granada – Sevilla betting tip
A lot is at stake in the Andalusian crisis summit next Tuesday, a defeat would be fatal for both sides. The two opponents currently have just three wins between them this season, and both teams have been winless since the start of October. The uncertainty on both sides could favor a points split, betting tip X has interesting odds for Granada vs. Sevilla, which we think is a good option
In addition, it seems likely that both sides can shine with at least one goal, as defensively neither team has ever been able to keep things tight in recent weeks.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be an evenly-matched game with explosive signs. “Relegation battle in Andalusian” is the motto! We can’t wait to see whether one of the teams can pull their heads out of the noose or whether the crisis will continue over the holidays.
