In the first leg, both teams faced each other in Malmö. In the first round, not too much ran together with both the hosts and the guests. Goal chances were to be classified as a clear shortage of goods. As a result, there was no goal in the half-time break. However, the second half was opened with a bang. Two minutes after the side change, Sören Rieks made it 1-0 for the Swedes. Only two more hand turns later, Birmancevic was able to increase to 2:0. For the time being, the Scots did not rebuild. Steven Davis was supposed to score the second goal in the second half of the season. However, this could be worth gold in terms of the return game.
The Rangers secured the championship last season and have thus managed to jump into the Champions League qualification. Directly in the first match Malmö had to face a 1:2 defeat. The one away goal could prove to be very important for the second leg.
The Rangers played in the Europa League last season. The group stage was undefeated with four wins and two draws. In the intermediate round two victories resulted against Antwerp. = = = Slavia Prague = = = Slavia Prague defeated Slavia Prague in the sixteen finals.
In the home premiership, the Rangers played two games. The first one brought a 3-0 win against Livingston. In the end, however, a narrow 0-1 defeat against Dundee United had to be accepted. The dress rehearsal thus went quite backwards.
Due to the coronavirus crisis, the Rangers also had to step down with new signings during the summer break. Only free players have been signed. The big names do not exist.

The Swedes have already gone a long way in the course of the Champions League qualification. A total of two rounds were successfully contested. In the first round, Malmö narrowly beat Riga FC 1-1 and 1-0. The second round brought with it the Finnish representative HJK Helsinki. The first leg should be won with a narrow 2:1. In the second leg, a 2-2 draw was enough to reach the third qualifying round. This led to a 2:1 over the Rangers.
Last season Malmö failed in the fourth qualifying round of the Europa League after a 1:3 defeat to Granada and thus missed out on participation in the international business.
At the national level, Malmö has recently been quite successful. Coach Jon Dahl Tomasson’s team has been undefeated for four games. Three of the last four league duels were won. In the end, a goalless draw against Halmstadt was enough to conquer the top of the league table.
The large investments were not on the schedule during the summer break. Only one million euros was invested in new players. For this amount, Serbian left winger Veljko Birmancevic moved to the Swedes.

The Rangers will have to come out of the first leg after the narrow defeat. Due to the one away goal, a 1-0 victory would be enough to qualify for the next round. The odds clearly show the Rangers as favourites. However, this approach is not to be assessed as self-sustaining. Guests should not be underestimated and have recently proven that they are capable of scoring on opposing ground. As part of our betting tip forecast, we still see the hosts stronger and advise to bet on a narrow home win.
