The goal festival?
A spectacle is in the offing in Catalonia. At least if previous performances are anything to go by. Then Girona and Real Sociedad will be a tip for fans of goals and entertaining attacking play.
For once, the rule about money scoring goals is somewhat undermined here. Because on paper, the visitors would be 487:223 in front. But as part of the City Football Group, it’s a little easier to get hold of good players, even for less money
This naturally influences the performance level of the squad and thus also what the betting odds offer at Girona and Real Sociedad.
In addition to the table, there is also a certain gap in form. Although the hosts have also lost some ground recently, they are still going strong with eleven points from five games. The men from San Sebastián, on the other hand, have only managed one three-pointer in the same period. The predictions quickly make Girona the favorites against Real Sociedad
Girona – statistics & current form
All of Catalonia wears blue and red. All of Catalonia? No, there is a village of indomitable people in the north…
The Girona Futbol Club is somewhat reminiscent of the famous comics by Uderzo and Goscinny. They are an antithesis to modern soccer, created by modern soccer. This becomes clear when you look at the squad and how it came about.
When the City Football Group joined the club in 2017, the opportunities in the north of Catalonia changed significantly. Since then, money no longer plays a role. But it does so surprisingly little. With 23 players, the squad is one of the smallest in the league. Nine legionnaires are just as little a force as the average age of 26.7.
Instead, the construction is very carefully tinkered with. Thanks to the network, inexpensive players keep coming to the east coast and are refined there. This is particularly evident in the squad structure. 13 players are between 19 and 26, the rest between 32 and 37, with everything from experience to recklessness
Girona and Real Sociedad, entertaining odds
The result of this build-up is an extremely amusing squad, both for spectators and bettors. After 22 rounds, the goal difference stands at 52:25, and with goals scored and goals conceded averages of over 1.0 per game, the goal bets are screaming out loud.
The forward line is the strongest in the Primera and has only gone two games (0:3 Real / 0:0 Almería) without a clean sheet. Artem Dovbyk (14+6) is marching away up front. He is one of those diamonds in the rough who may be admired here in his only season in tranquil Girona.
But with Sávio (5+7), Viktor Tsygankov (4+3), Cristhian Stuani (7+2) and Portu (2+3), there are more than enough exciting alternatives. If the goals conceded average is added to this, a tired 0:0 should be considered rather unlikely. Betting on goals is probably a direct hit here.
Predicted Girona line-up:
Real Sociedad – Statistics & current form
The blue half of the Basque Country is dragging itself through the season. Somehow, no real run has come together this season. The Blue & Whites currently find themselves in last place in Spain’s European Cup. After 22 rounds, they have nine wins and nine draws with a goal difference of 32:21. These are rock-solid figures that clearly set them apart from the teams below them.
The problem, however, is looking upwards. Ranks five to one are in some cases well above them, especially in terms of attacking output. Bilbao (38), Atléti (42), Barca (43), Real (45) and Girona (52) are far more potent when it comes to attacking.
As long as this does not change, their position in the table will have to be secured at the bottom rather than improved at the top. Three draws (0:0 Rayo / 1:1 Alavés / 0:0 Cádiz) in their last five starts have widened the gap at the wrong end. Time for a full success
One man up
The fact that it has been a little complicated with the victories in the recent past is not necessarily down to the squad, but rather fitness. Real Sociedad currently have several problems up front.
The good news first: Mikel Oyarzabal (8+1) is fit. The best attacker is the Blue & Whites’ identification figure and life insurance. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Takefusa Kubo (6+3), Ander Barrenetxea (3+1) and Carlos Fernández (2+1). The triumvirate are injured or on business trips.
This means that a total of eleven goals and five assists are missing. That adds up to 50% of the team’s goals. With another four players missing from defense and midfield, things are starting to get tight. Although the Basques have been able to compensate well for the absence so far, the results are suffering noticeably.
Predicted Real Sociedad line-up:
Girona – Real Sociedad head-to-head comparison / H2H result
The history of this clash shows that the trees have only recently started to grow into the sky in Girona. The score is 3:1 in favor of San Sebatían. It is also clear that there have been six draws in the same period. One of them was the first leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Girona and Real Sociedad odds on goals are probably a better bet than pure result tips
Girona – Real Sociedad betting tip
On paper, the Basques have the advantage. The season so far has gone to the Catalans. It would therefore be risky to predict a fixed winner for Girona against Real Sociedad. There is too much quality on both sides for that
Although Girona vs Real Sociedad betting tip 1 is more likely, we advise against it as the main bet. What both teams nominally offer are goals
