Barça’s personnel problems at Getafe – draw is enough for both
The one is fighting against relegation, the other for the second place in the table: Getafe FC receives FC Barcelona at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on the 37th matchday in La Liga – and can hope for something countable. After all, Barça only need a single point to finish runners-up. Should third-placed Atletico fail to win their top match against fourth-placed Sevilla FC, Barça would be runners-up regardless of their own result.
The bottom line is that a draw would be a very good result for both clubs, as it would mean Getafe would be celebrating staying in the league – no matter what RCD Mallorca do, the team that is the only one that could still catch Getafe.
With this draw Barcelona would have achieved their (adjusted) goal for the season, second place has also been the declared goal of the Catalans for weeks, because with it they will take part in the Spanish Supercup next season, which not only means a chance to win a title, but also promises important income into the coffers of the cash-strapped club. And there are also a few more reasons to be at least cautious with your predictions on the Blaugrana in the Getafe vs Barcelona match.
Getafe – Statistics & current form
A good reason to go for the draw is that Getafe are excellent at splitting points. The Azulones have already scored 14 times this season, most recently three in a row. On Wednesday, they drew 1-1 with Osasuna, and before that they drew 0-0 at home against Rayo and Betis. So Getafe are gradually crawling their way towards staying in the relegation zone.
Only Sevilla FC have collected more draws than Getafe this season, namely 15. And as mentioned, a draw would be enough for Getafe to stay in the league, even if eighteenth-placed Mallorca were to win their remaining two matches and Getafe were to lose their last game. Because in Spain, if the points are equal, the direct comparison prevails, and this is what Getafe won against Mallorca (1:0, 0:0).
Getafe’s problems with scoring goals
A look at the Getafe vs Barcelona betting odds shows a peak of 3.90 , Because Getafe has a hard time scoring goals. In the last two home games there was no goal at all, in 36 games of the season they scored only 32 times – only Alaves (30) is even weaker in attack.
It may therefore seem sensible to bet on both Getafe vs Barcelona: No or Under 2.5 goals.

Barcelona – Statistics & current form
There is, however, one advantage that attack-weak Getafe have ahead of their clash with FC Barcelona this weekend: The Blaugrana’s personnel situation in the defence is dramatic.
Coach Xavi is missing several defensive players. Gerard Piqué (adductor), Eric Garcia (yellow suspension and hand surgery), Jordi Alba (yellow suspension) and Sergiño Dest (muscle injury) are definitely out, and Ronald Araujo is also more than out after suffering concussion in the game against Celta Vigo. This means that Xavi is missing five regulars in the defence. Meanwhile, Frenkie de Jong is also suspended in Getafe – which makes the midfield no less sparse, after all shooting star Pedri (muscle injury) has been missing for a long time.
Xavi’s personnel problems for the visit of Getafe
The personnel situation alone speaks for a much weakened Barça, which could be vulnerable especially in defence, as they are certainly anything but well-rehearsed here.
On the offensive side, Xavi can draw from a wide range of options, with Dembélé, Depay and Aubameyang recently proving how well they harmonise against Celta Vigo. With four wins in a row and eleven wins in the last twelve games, there is a lot to be said for betting on the visitors to win at Getafe against Barcelona. Even more so, as the odds on this match are 2.10 on average.
The record in the direct comparison also speaks clearly in favour of the guest from Catalonia.
Predicted line-up of Barcelona:
Ter Stegen – Alves, Lenglet, Umtiti, Baldé – Busquets, Gavi, Puig – Dembele, Aubameyang, Depay

Getafe – Barcelona Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
Of course, Barça has a clear lead in the direct comparison. Of the last ten duels, eight have been won. This match has been played 33 times in La Liga, with only three wins and six draws for Getafe, compared to Barcelona’s 24 victories.
In the first half of the season, however, Barça struggled, winning 2-1 – which has been the case more often recently anyway. Four of the last eight victories were achieved with just this result.
Getafe – Barcelona Tip
Of course FC Barcelona will play to win again in Getafe, as Xavi’s team always does. Winning games is always the premise of FC Barcelona. And yet: A draw would be the perfect result for both teams, in which case Barça would be the runners-up and Getafe would have secured their place in the relegation zone. Both teams know that in advance, of course.
Possibly playing without the last risk, you should definitely take that into account when betting – especially if it should be a draw late in the game, both should be able to live with it very well. A narrow victory for Xavi’s team is just as conceivable as a 0:0 or 1:1 draw – so we prefer to stay out of the three-way and give our prediction for Getafe vs Barcelona: At half-time it’s a draw.
