Dient Fürth als SGE-Aufaufbaugegner in der Bundesliga?
One can almost feel a little sorry for Spielvereinigung Greuther Fürth. On the one hand, the cloverleaf can’t get a leg up in the Bundesliga and is still waiting for its first full success. On the other hand, coach Stefan Leitl now has to deal with severe personnel problems. The omens before the basement duel at the end of the 11th matchday in the top flight could hardly be worse.
The fact that the odds between Fürth and Frankfurt are close to the 2.00 mark for an away win for the Hessians also shows that Eintracht are not in particularly good shape either. On the contrary: Glasner’s side celebrated their only win of the season at national level so far at FC Bayern and struggled time and again, especially in the supposed role of favourites.
Possibly this is also the reason why the bookmakers with a German licence are rather cautious with a prediction on the three-legged tie between Fürth and Frankfurt. However, if one assumes that the Eagle Bearers can confirm their slightly upward form curve on Sunday evening and build on the emotional victory at Olympiakos Piraeus, there are indications that the bottom team will suffer the next bitter defeat at home.
Fürth – Statistics & current form
One point has been recorded for SpVgg Greuther Fürth after the first ten matchdays this season. Only once before (1963/64) did 1. FC Saarbrücken make a similarly weak start to a season in the German top flight.
The catastrophic result, however, is by no means the only negative record that the promoted team has accumulated. The fact that the Green-Whites have already waited 21 home games for a win in the top flight of German football is also unprecedented. The Spielvereinigung have never won a home match in the Bundesliga before.
Greuther Fürth – a lost cause?
The current form also leaves questions open as to whether coach Stefan Leitl’s team is competitive. The last eight league games were all lost. In six of these eight games, the defeats were by more than one goal. Last weekend they lost 1:3 in Freiburg, and before that 1:4 at RB Leipzig. In view of these figures and recent results, it comes as something of a surprise that a bet on the qualitatively stronger guest between Fürth and Frankfurt is relatively highly rated.
Greuther Fürth has the weakest defence in the league, has already conceded 27 goals (2.7 on average per game) and is already eight points behind the relegation place currently held by FC Augsburg, who are level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt. Strictly speaking, the hosts are under pressure on Sunday evening if they want to get involved in the relegation battle in the Bundesliga. However, the pressure situation is not likely to be particularly beneficial for the unsettled Kleeblatt.
To make matters worse, Coach Leitl is still struggling with the aftermath of some positive cases. Abiama, Bauer, Burchert, Dudziak and Seufert will not be available for precisely this reason. In addition, Fein, Hoogma, Jung, Kehr, Ngankam, Nielsen and Viergever are missing due to injuries. Without a dozen players, the team virtually sets itself up.
Predicted line-up of Fürth:
M. Funk – Meyerhöfer, Barry, Sarpei, Willems – Christiansen – Seguin, Green – Leweling, Hrgota – Itten

10/30 2021 – SC Freiburg 3 – 1 Greuther Fürth

Frankfurt – Statistics & current form
In Europe hui, on national level pfui. That’s a pretty good way to sum up Eintracht Frankfurt’s season so far. On the European stage, the SGE already has ten points after four match days in the Europa League group stage. The ticket for the next round has already been punched, and even the group win is hardly out of reach for the Hessians after their remarkable away victory on Thursday evening in the cauldron of Olympiakos Piraeus.
Now it is time to transfer the good impressions from the Europa League to the Bundesliga. There, the Glasner team is clearly lagging behind its own expectations with only nine points after ten match days in 15th place. The biggest problem is the large number of points shared. In addition to just one win and three defeats, the Hessians have already drawn six games.
Does the victory in Piraeus release new strength?
Hopeful for the upcoming away game in Franconia is the fact that the SGE fought their way to a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig last weekend and generally collected more points away from home than at home, with five points from five games. In addition, Eintracht is a stronger team in terms of quality, which is why our prediction between Fürth and Frankfurt is clearly in favour of the visitors.
The 1.95 on the visitors’ treble already promises an extremely attractive value. If you want to take even more of a risk, you can consider betting that Borré, Kamada and Co. will score at least once in both halves
As the Frankfurt squad only returned from Piraeus on Friday evening, the preparation and regeneration time is relatively short. Strictly speaking, however, this is the only possible reason that plays into the host’s hands. Even the injury-related absences of Paciencia, Lenz and perhaps Kostic do not change our assessment that the SGE will celebrate their second win of the season.
Predicted Frankfurt line-up:
Trapp – Ilsanker, Hinteregger, Ndicka – Barkok, Sow, Rode, Durm – Kamada, Hauge – Borré

Fürth – Frankfurt Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
The teams last faced each other in the 2012/13 season. In their only Bundesliga season together, Frankfurt won 3:2 in Fürth, while they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home. If we look at the overall record between the two clubs, the SGE also has a narrow lead with 19 wins compared to 17 defeats and twelve draws. The Eintracht side have not lost any of their last five competitive matches against the cloverleaf.
Fürth – Frankfurt Tip
Ten games, one point, 27 goals conceded and 21 consecutive home games in the Bundesliga without a win. To date, the Fürth team has failed to prove that it can compete in Germany’s top division.
Against this backdrop, we find it very surprising that some bookmakers believe the cloverleaf has something to play for at home against Eintracht. We take a much more sober view of the chances of coach Stefan Leitl’s team, who also have to contend with considerable personnel problems, and clearly see the most attractive value between Fürth and Frankfurt in the odds on an away win.
Although Glasner’s side have not covered themselves in glory at national level so far this season, the SGE have at least gained a lot of self-confidence in the Europa League recently. As the Hessians have also performed well away from home so far, we are firmly convinced that betting on the visitors in the match between Fürth and Frankfurt will pay off.
