Can Eintracht Frankfurt catch up to third place?
On Monday, Eintracht Frankfurt will face SV Werder Bremen in the Women’s Bundesliga. The roles seem to be quite clear in advance, because while the hosts still have a good chance of participating in the Champions League, the visitors find themselves somewhat aimlessly in midfield. For this reason, the bookmakers’ odds between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Damen also clearly favor a win for the home team
However, the visiting team has nothing to hide, as Thomas Horsch’s team also upset TSG 1899 Hoffenheim almost six weeks ago and took a point off the third-placed team in the table. Bremen have also already beaten Bayer Leverkusen this season, who are only one place behind Eintracht. Apart from these two games, however, they have not been successful against the stronger teams in the league. That’s why the odds are clearly against an away win between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Damen
Kick-off for this match in the women’s Bundesliga is at 19:30 on Monday at the Stadion am Brentanobad in Frankfurt-Rödelheim. The match can be watched live and in full on Magenta Sport or DAZN.
We recommend a win for the home team in conjunction with a half-time lead between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Damen. We are confident that the hosts will dominate this match from the outset and will not let anything get in their way. In terms of quality, Niko Arnautis’ team is simply on a different level and played in the top flight this season for a reason
Frankfurt – statistics & current form
Frankfurt are currently in fourth place in the women’s Bundesliga and are having a good season. However, Niko Arnautis’ team will not be entirely satisfied, as Eintracht have finished in the top three in each of the past two seasons. However, the hosts still have it in their own hands, as they are currently just four points behind Hoffenheim. What’s more, Frankfurt still have a game in hand, meaning that TSG and the Champions League are still well within reach.
Strong home record
The hosts have already played 15 home games this season, picking up 32 points in the process. In addition, Niko Arnautis’ team have only lost three games at home and are therefore very difficult to beat. Moreover, the three defeats should not be overrated, as FC Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg and FC Barcelona are among the best teams in the world. For this reason, Frankfurt will be the clear favorites in the upcoming match.
With Nicole Anyomi, Laura Freigang, Barbara Dunst and Lara Prasnikar, Eintracht has four players who have already scored eight points in the women’s Bundesliga. The quartet have also impressed in the other competitions, scoring a total of 53 goals across all competitions. The four attackers are therefore clearly the key players in Frankfurt’s ranks. With this power, it is therefore rather unlikely that SV Werder Bremen will be able to keep a clean sheet.
Barely to be stopped
Eintracht Frankfurt have scored 61 goals in 29 competitive matches this season (⌀ 2.10) and are therefore rarely able to defend for 90 minutes. For this reason, Niko Arnautis’ team has only failed to score five times this season, finding the back of the net in just under 83% of matches. There were also the “zero numbers” against strong opponents such as Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, Benfica Lisbon and FC Barcelona. The only real blemish came in the 2-0 defeat at SGS Essen.
In addition to the offense, the hosts’ defense also made a very solid impression. With only 30 goals conceded in 29 games (⌀ 1.03), Eintracht’s defensive line does not usually concede many chances. On the other hand, Frankfurt “only” managed to keep a clean sheet eleven times, meaning they conceded at least one goal in 62% of their competitive matches. In direct comparisons against Bremen, however, things have looked much better recently, as Frankfurt have not conceded a goal in their last two encounters.
Predicted line-up for Frankfurt:
Johannes – Wolter, Doorsun-Khajeh, Kleinherne, Hanshaw – Dunst, Gräwe, Reuteler, Freigang – Prasnikar, Anyomi
Werder Bremen – Statistics & current form
Werder are currently in seventh place in Germany’s top flight and are having a satisfactory season. Thomas Horsch’s team have collected 21 points from their first 16 games, making it the best first league year in the club’s history. The visitors should therefore have nothing to do with relegation this season. On the other hand, however, it will not be enough for much more than seventh place, as the big teams are still miles away in terms of play.
Compared to Eintracht’s home record, the Bremen side’s away record is absolutely not up to scratch. Thomas Horsch’s team have picked up just 14 points from ten games away from home and have only won against weaker teams such as Nuremberg, Leipzig, Gladbach (2nd division) and Duisburg. In addition, the visitors recently lost at 1.FC Köln, which is also one of the worst clubs in the women’s Bundesliga. A win in Frankfurt therefore seems rather unrealistic
Lucky hand
Sophie Weidauer moved from Turbine Potsdam to the Weser last summer. There, the 22-year-old attacker hit the ground running and played every league game from the start. The new signing is also her team’s top scorer with six goals and one assist. Alongside Nina Lührßen, who has already scored six goals this season, the center forward is one of the target players in Thomas Horsch’s team.
With 29 goals in 18 competitive matches, Werder Bremen’s offense is not doing a bad job, but not a particularly good one either. They have also failed to score on six occasions, meaning they have found the back of the net in just 66% of their matches. Especially against the stronger teams such as Bayern, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg, the attacking line lacked the necessary quality to create good scoring chances
No cannon fodder
While Werder Bremen’s offense still has some room for improvement, the defensive line makes a surprisingly good impression. Apart from the 0:5 cup defeat against VfL Wolfsburg, the Bremen team rarely let themselves be shot down. Overall, Thomas Horsch’s team only conceded more than two goals three times and only conceded more than two goals six times. The visitors will therefore not allow themselves to be shot down by Eintracht Frankfurt.
Predicted Werder Bremen line-up:
Peng – Hahn, Ulbrich, Bernhardt, Nemeth, Lührßen – Dieckmann, Wirtz, Walkling – Weidauer, Sternad
Frankfurt – Werder Bremen Direct comparison / H2H result
The direct comparison between the two teams clearly goes to the hosts. Frankfurt have won eleven matches against Bremen, while one match ended in a draw and Bremen have only won two. The visiting team have not even scored against Eintracht in four matches. For this reason, our prediction between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Damen is clearly in favor of the home team
Frankfurt – Werder Bremen betting tip
We recommend a win for the home team with a handicap of -1 between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Damen. This is primarily due to the fact that Eintracht are difficult to beat in their own stadium and have only lost to the top teams in Europe so far. In addition, the poor form of Bremen, who have not won in four games, also speaks against a victory for the visitors. Furthermore, Frankfurt have also won their last four matches against the team from the Weser
Alternatively, we recommend the odds for “both teams to score – no” between Frankfurt and Werder Bremen Ladies. Bremen have scored just one goal in their last four matches and have also been very harmless in terms of chances. In the first half of the season, the visitors only scored twice against their opponents and failed to create any major chances over 90 minutes.
