Does the SGE give the Knappen a Bundesliga negative record?
The situation at FC Schalke 04 continues to look extremely bleak. Although the Knappen won their last home match before the World Cup break?
This 1:0 against Mainz 05 was the only point gained by the Gelsenkirchen side in their last nine league games (eight defeats). Accordingly, the Königsblauen travel to Hessen, where tip 1 seems almost without alternative for Frankfurt against Schalke.
For S04, meanwhile, the aim is to finally end their winless streak on foreign soil, which has now spanned 35 Bundesliga away games (ten draws, 25 defeats). The 36th away game in a row without a win would finally set a new negative record in the Bundesliga. However, there is little in Frankfurt vs Schalke that favours a prediction that the Gelsenkirchen side will be spared this inglorious record.
After all, Eintracht Frankfurt are currently playing their best Bundesliga season since the start of the three-point era. Never before has the SGE had 27 points on its account after 15 matchdays. In addition, the Eagles already have 32 goals, making them the second-best attacking team in the Bundesliga behind Bayern (49 goals).
The match could be correspondingly clear-cut. A lot of value is offered by betting on the SGE with an Asian handicap of -1.5.
Frankfurt – statistics & current form
Eintracht Frankfurt finished a sobering eleventh in the Bundesliga in the 2021/22 season, but managed to win the Europa League overall as part of an impressive run.
Champions League football will therefore be played in the Main metropolis in Hesse for the 2022/23 season. After slight teething troubles, the Eagles were even able to get through the group stage in one piece and qualify for the round of 16, where the duels with SSC Napoli await at the end of February / beginning of March.
25 points out of a possible 36 from the last twelve league games
There were also slight teething problems in the Bundesliga. The Hessians took only two points out of a possible nine from their first three league games. Then, however, Oliver Glasner’s eleven turned on all cylinders. Only RB Leipzig (26) have picked up more points than the SGE (25) since matchday four.
The yield of 27 points from 15 league games corresponds to the Eagles’ best Bundesliga season since the introduction of the three-point rule. New signing and near World Cup hero Randal Kolo Muani also played his part in the upswing. The Frenchman has already been directly involved in 14 goals in the Bundesliga (five goals, nine assists).
The second best offence in the Bundesliga
The biggest difficulty for the Hessians now is to carry the momentum of the last twelve matchdays into the home game against S04. However, considering that Eintracht have not lost any of their last ten Bundesliga home games against the Königsblauen (six wins, four draws), the bookmakers have little doubt that Frankfurt vs Schalke tip 1 will work out in the end.
Instead, it could even be a very one-sided affair, as the Eagles not only have the second-best attack in the Bundesliga (32 goals from 15 games), but also convince with the best chance conversion of all 18 Bundesliga teams (21.2%).
Predicted Frankfurt line-up:
Trapp – Ndicka – Smolcic – Jakic – Sow – Kamada – Knauff – Ebimbe – Götze – Lindström – Kolo Muani

Schalke – Statistics & current form
Fc Schalke 04 were already relegated from the Beletage of German football in the summer of 2021 as the Bundesliga’s bottom team in the wake of a completely messed-up season. The Gelsenkirchen team then managed to return to the top flight of German football as champions of the 2nd division.
However, this is where the old problems of the seven-time German champions reappear, as they have only won two of their 15 league games so far (three draws, ten defeats), and are already five points behind the rescue bank with the red lantern in their hands.
Lost eight of last nine league games
However, the Knappen’s crisis is closely linked to their prolonged away misery.
For an incredible 35 away games in a row, S04 have now failed to record a win in the Bundesliga (ten draws, 25 defeats). This means Schalke are just one more away game without a win away from a new historic negative record in the Bundesliga.
After losing eight of the last nine league games (one win), there is little to suggest a turnaround. Even during the World Cup break, the Königsblauen did not record a single victory in a total of six test matches (three draws, three defeats),
The weakest offence in the Bundesliga
In addition to the away weakness, the poor offensive values of the Reis eleven mean that the betting odds in the run-up to the match between Frankfurt and Schalke are all against the Gelsenkirchen side gaining a point.
In 15 league games, S04 have scored a total of just 13 goals, which is less than one goal on average per Bundesliga game. Against this backdrop, the lack of chances is not surprising. Only 10.2% of all shots taken by Schalke resulted in a goal. This is also the weakest figure of all 18 Bundesliga teams.
Predicted Schalke line-up:
Schwolow – Uronen – Matriciani – Yoshida – Brunner – Krauß – Latza – Mohr – Larsson – Kozuki – Terodde

Frankfurt – Schalke Direct comparison / H2H balance
Head to head: 41 – 25 – 38
The two teams have faced each other a total of 104 times in official matches so far and the SGE leads the direct comparison with 41 victories. Eintracht have not won at home against any other Bundesliga team as often as they have against S04 (27 wins from 47 Bundesliga home games).
Frankfurt – Schalke Tip
For Frankfurt against Schalke, the odds are clearly in favour of the home side, who have the second-best points tally in the Bundesliga since matchday four, spent the winter in a Champions League starting spot and have the second-best offence in the Bundesliga with 32 goals. The visitors from Gelsenkirchen, on the other hand, have been waiting for another win in 35 Bundesliga away games (ten draws, 25 defeats) and travel to the Main metropolis with the league’s tamest attack.
Accordingly, the forecast for Frankfurt against Schalke is that the SGE will win this home match with at least a two-goal difference and remain on course for a Champions League spot in league play.
