Is Nuri Sahin winning his personal final?
As the new football year 2025 gets underway, the Bundesliga is coming thick and fast. The third part of the English week will kick off on Friday evening with the exciting encounter between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund. The eyes are primarily on two people. On the black and yellow side, Nuri Sahin is under particular scrutiny after the embarrassment in Kiel. At SGE, the only thing people have been talking about for days is Omar Marmoush. Of course, the question of whether the top scorer in the German top flight will play for the Hessians again influences the Frankfurt vs. Dortmund tip on the first day of the second half of the season.
Apart from that, it is still understandable that a prediction for coach Dino Toppmöller’s team is quoted lower before the duel between Frankfurt and Dortmund. The eagle bearers are still in third place after their strong home win against Freiburg and could distance the upcoming opponent in the race for the Champions League places by as much as eleven points with another three points. Although Eintracht have not beaten BVB since 2021, the chances of doing so this time are better than they have been in a long time.
The decisive factor here is Borussia’s disappointing start to the year, which has seen them slip to tenth place and threaten to disappear into mediocrity for good. There are problems cropping up at every turn. If the odds between Frankfurt and Dortmund go through to the next away defeat of last year’s CL participant, this could ultimately lead to personnel changes on the coaching bench.
Frankfurt vs. Dortmund forecast AI
The odds of the bookmakers correspond almost 100% with the assessment of the betting base AI lady “BETSiE”. The artificial intelligence also sees SGE in the role of favorites and expects a game in which more than two goals should fall under normal circumstances. Value is therefore difficult to generate. However, based on the xG values of 1.74 to 1.46, the Frankfurt vs. Dortmund AI prediction of a home win can be waved through at odds of 2.25 at best on the Bet365 app.
Frankfurt – statistics & current form
After just two games in the new calendar year, it is clear that the winter break has done Eintracht an enormous amount of good. Before Christmas, the club from Hesse was sliding towards a veritable crisis in terms of results, but two wins at the Millerntor in St. Pauli and at home against SC Freiburg on Tuesday evening have meant that they are currently still in third place in the Bundesliga behind Bayern and Leverkusen. For the first time since 2021, two victories have been achieved at the start of the new year. In view of the four-point lead over the fifth-placed team, a return to the top flight is on the cards as things stand.
Is Marmoush still available?
Omar Marmoush has played a major role in the club’s second-best Bundesliga season in history, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists after 17 matchdays. However, the Egyptian may have played in the SGE jersey for the last time in the 4-1 win on Tuesday evening. Negotiations with Manchester City should be well advanced. The parties have come together, so there is definitely a possibility that Marmoush will no longer play for Eintracht on Friday evening.
Exactly that is also one of the reasons why I don’t want to burn my fingers with a Frankfurt vs. However, I still think that the eagle-wearing team will score at least two goals in their own stadium against the extremely vulnerable BVB defense, especially since only FC Bayern have scored more goals at home so far this season and Eintracht have scored twice or more in six of their previous eight Bundesliga home matches (5-2-1). In the Oddset app, odds of 1.75 can be tapped for SGE goals over 1.5 between Frankfurt and Dortmund.
Dortmund – statistics & current form
Borussia Dortmund has definitely reached a new low this season since Tuesday evening. The catastrophic first half in the embarrassing 4-2 defeat at the low-budget promoted team in Kiel was a revelation in every respect. Without passion, without will, without a game idea and without showing the individual quality that actually exists, the black and yellow drew the wrath of their own fans and also slipped in the standings to tenth (!) Place. They are five points behind the Champions League places. Even being completely knocked out of the European Cup competition next season is a distinct possibility.
Dortmund have conceded 29 goals in the first half of the season
At least BVB already has the opportunity to make amends on Friday evening and thus start to somehow pull the cart out of the mire. The fact is that head coach Nuri Sahin, who is under fire, expects a reaction from his team. Only for the second time since Klopp’s departure in 2017 are they facing the prospect of three Bundesliga defeats in a row.
It remains to be seen, however, whether the turnaround can be heralded in a strange stadium, because the black and yellow have hardly achieved anything away from home in the Bundesliga season so far. The second-best home team in the league is ranked 13th in the away table and has only managed five meager points from eight Bundesliga away games. At the same point in time, 18 goals conceded is the worst figure since 1991/92.
Given that Eintracht have scored 23 goals after eight home games for the first time in 43 years and that BVB conceded three (!) goals before half-time in both matches in 2025, it is definitely conceivable to bet on a relatively goal-rich first half again. The Frankfurt vs. Dortmund betting odds on at least one goal in both halves are also interesting. A corresponding bet would have paid off three times in a row and in six of Sahin’s eight away games. The maximum rate here is 1.50 and can be found at Betano.
Frankfurt – Dortmund direct comparison / H2H record
In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund has not celebrated more wins against any other club than against Eintracht Frankfurt. Especially in the recent past, the SGE has turned out to be the favorite opponent for black and yellow. 19 points from the last seven Bundesliga duels impressively underline this. BVB also won the first leg at home 2-0. In addition, Borussia has not been beaten in seven away games in the city on the Main. Both teams have always scored, and in the vast majority of cases, Over 2.5 would have been crowned with success. There should also be a lot of goals on Friday evening at the Deutsche Bank Park.
Frankfurt – Dortmund Tip
Many BVB fans had secretly hoped that those in charge would pull the plug and officially declare the experiment with Nuri Sahin as coach a failure after the disastrous performance in Kiel. However, the ex-professional now gets the next chance on Friday evening to prove that he is the right man to turn things around in the Ruhr area. There will definitely be changes in the starting lineup. But it will be even more important for the black and yellows to show a completely different mindset and a defiant reaction.
Admittedly, I don’t think BVB is capable of doing just that away from home. All bets on SGE are therefore justified. If you still sympathize with Borussia, you might want to consider the much too high 4.75 on a Gittens goal. Alternatively, a bet on at least one goal in both halves between Frankfurt and Dortmund will balance risk and return in a profitable way.
