Frankfurt still strong on Fridays?
After the cup is before the Bundesliga. At least that applies to the general schedule. However, this does not apply to Eintracht Frankfurt and Arminia Bielefeld. Both have already been knocked out of the DFB Cup early and so the two teams with the strongest run in the Bundesliga will open the 20th matchday on Friday in complete freshness.
Friday evening is possibly the Hessians’ favourite date for a Bundesliga match. At least at home, things have been going very well on Fridays for years. Eintracht’s last home defeat on a Friday was in March 2013, and since then the Hessians have been unbeaten in twelve home games to start the matchday – with five wins and seven draws.
In the Bundesliga table, Eintracht is treading water a little. Oliver Glasner’s team is still in eighth place with 28 points. The international ranks are still not far away and so we can make the prediction before kick-off between Frankfurt and Bielefeld that the Hessians will still be in the race for the European Cup places.
This region of the standings has nothing to do with Arminia Bielefeld. The East Westphalians are still in relegation place and have 18 points to their name.
Frankfurt – statistics & current form
Eintracht still lack the necessary stability to win a Bundesliga match in the new year. In both games in 2022, the Hessians were ahead, but only picked up one point overall. You should probably have this duel against Arminia on your radar when it comes to live betting, even and especially if the Frankfurt team is in front.
Lost points after leading
However, you can’t really blame the offense. Rafael Borre, for example, has been busy collecting scorer points in the last six games and has four goals and four assists since the beginning of December. Perhaps one should check the odds on a goal from the Colombian in the duel between Frankfurt and Bielefeld.
After losing 3-2 at home to Dortmund at the start of the year after leading 2-0, the Hessians managed an early 1-0 in Augsburg last weekend through Kamada, but again it was not enough for a win. In the end, the scoreboard showed a 1-1 result. To give away four points in two games is almost dramatic.
Perhaps the defence will be more stable again on Friday. Keeper Trapp will probably return to the box after a negative test. Filip Kostic has also tested free and should be an option again. For Lenz and Hauge, the game against Bielefeld might still come too soon after overcoming injuries. Barkok is still at the Africa Cup.
Frankfurt’s line-up:
Trapp – Tuta, Hinteregger, Ndicka – Sow, Rode, Kostic, Toure – Lindström, Kamada – Borre – Coach: Glasner

Bielefeld – Statistics & current form
Arminia Bielefeld is a team that knows exactly where their own strengths lie. With an extreme willingness to run, the East Westphalians make life difficult for their opponents. The problem is the rather harmless offensive, but there seems to be improvement in sight in recent weeks, as Masaya Okugawa scored in the last four Bundesliga games. In that period, only Robert Lewandowski has been more successful.
Arminia well on track
Frank Kramer’s team is now unbeaten in four Bundesliga games. Away from home, the team attracted attention with the win in Leipzig, but the 2:2 at SC Freiburg was also impressive. We can therefore imagine predicting that Arminia will win a point in the clash between Frankfurt and Bielefeld.
Last weekend, however, a win was firmly on the cards in the home game against Greuther Fürth, but in the end they were lucky to have picked up a point at all in the 2-2 draw. Okugawa put his team in front, but midway through the second half the bottom team led 2-1, and it was the reactivated Gonzalo Castro who equalised the score at 2-2 shortly before the end.
In terms of personnel, things are looking very good at the Alm at the moment. Only Nathan de Medina is absent due to illness. Therefore, Frank Kramer has many options, especially in midfield and attack. Gonzalo Castro is certainly an alternative for the starting eleven. In attack, Fabian Klos or Bryan Lasme could also play from the start.
Predicted line-up of Bielefeld:
Ortega Moreno – Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Andrade – Prietl, Castro – Wimmer, Okugawa, Krüger – Serra – Coach: Kramer
Last matches played by Bielefeld:
1st Bundesliga
01/16 2022 – Arminia Bielefeld 2 – 2 Greuther Fürth
01/08 2022 – SC Freiburg 2 – 2 Arminia Bielefeld
12/18 2021 – RB Leipzig 0 – 2 Arminia Bielefeld
12/14 2021 – Arminia Bielefeld 2 – 0 Vfl Bochum
12/11 2021 – Hertha Berlin 2 – 0 Arminia Bielefeld
Frankfurt – Bielefeld Direct Comparison / H2H Balance
In total, the teams of Eintracht Frankfurt and Arminia Bielefeld have faced each other in 34 competitive matches. In the direct comparison, the Hessians are ahead with 15:8 victories. Eleven games ended in a draw. Eintracht has now been unbeaten against the East Westphalians for eight Bundesliga matches. However, four of the last five games in the top flight ended in a draw.
Thus, the two clubs also shared the points in the first leg at the Bielefeld Alm. Frankfurt took a 1-0 lead in the first period through a goal by Jens Petter Hauge. However, Arminia never let themselves down and were rewarded for their commitment late on. In the 86th minute, substitute Patrick Wimmer equalised the score at 1:1.
Frankfurt – Bielefeld Germany Tip
A very run-intensive game can be expected on Friday, because with Frankfurt and Bielefeld the two busiest teams in the Bundesliga meet. For Frankfurt, a home game on Friday evening is actually a guarantee for points, as they have not lost in their own arena on Fridays for twelve games.
However, things are not yet going so well for the Hessians in 2022. Despite leading against Dortmund and in Augsburg, they have only managed one point so far. Arminia, on the other hand, are unbeaten in four games and most recently won away in Leipzig and drew in Freiburg.
Oliver Glasner’s team is certainly favoured, but as compact as the East Westphalians have been lately, you can also go into the game optimistically on the Main. We think it will be an open match for a long time and have decided to play the odds on a draw between Frankfurt and Bielefeld.
