With two matchdays to go before the end of the group stage, Eintracht Frankfurt fixed their ticket for the knockout stage of the Europa League. The Hessians even had the chance to fix the group win early. Because Frankfurt only managed a draw against Antwerp, the duel between Eintracht and Piraeus will continue on the last matchday.
Eintracht Frankfurt will be the guests in Istanbul. Thursday’s opponents of the Hessians have secured third place and can therefore finish the group stage. Things could not have gone worse for the SGE last weekend. After an impressive winning streak, Eintracht lost a match in the German top flight for the first time since matchday nine. The defeat in Sinsheim also increased the gap to the international starting positions.
