Dynamo Kiev advance in Polish exile?

A total of 14 fixtures are scheduled for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday. While twelve of the 14 matches will see national champions go head-to-head in the Champions League, there are only two clashes between teams that had to settle for runners-up in their country in 2023/24.

However, some prominent clubs also feature in the standings. For example, we are looking forward to the match between Dynamo Kyiv and Partizan Belgrade.

Given the market value of the entire squad, this assessment is entirely understandable. While the Ukrainian squad is worth over 80 million euros in total, the traditional Serbian club is worth less than half that amount. Nevertheless, there are many other and mostly more important factors to consider in the Dynamo Kyiv vs Partizan Belgrade prediction for the first leg on Tuesday evening

Among other things, it must of course be noted in advance that the White & Blue must continue to play their international home games in exile due to the situation at home. The Arena Lublin in Poland will serve as an alternative venue for this European Cup season. However, ahead of the first match between Dynamo Kiev and Partizan Belgrade, the odds on the three-way market are clearly in favor of the Ukrainians.

It may therefore even be worth considering betting on the number of goals. The bookmakers do not seem to be in complete agreement here. Finally, if you need an attractive bonus as a treat, you can dust off up to 100 euros in freebets at Winamax in July 2024

Dynamo Kiev – statistics & current form

2021/22 was the last time Dynamo Kiev qualified for the group stage of the Champions League. A year later, they still made it to the group stage of the Europa League, but last season the Ukrainians even missed out on the main draw in the Conference League after losing to Besiktas. For the current season, the Whites and Blues have once again set their sights high on the international stage, although – despite the expansion to 36 teams in the top flight – the path to the final will be very rocky. The Eastern Europeans have to get three opponents out of the way. The first task against the Serbian runners-up is already a tough one.

Preparation did not necessarily go according to plan for the reigning runners-up from Ukraine. As part of the training camp in Austria, coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s team played a number of test matches against German teams, for example. There were draws against the second division teams from Paderborn (0:0) and Schalke (2:2). The dress rehearsal against Union Berlin was even lost 2:3. Only Bröndby IF (4:0) and Mamelodi from South Africa (1:0) were put in their place. Three clean sheets in five test matches are nevertheless a first indication, which is why we take a closer look at the odds on under-goals in the first leg between Dynamo Kiev and Partizan Belgrade

Under goalkeeping legend Shovkovskyi, the game idea was adapted

The fact that the 16-time national champions have fundamentally changed their approach since the winter also speaks for this. Under new coach Shovkovskyi, who once stood between the posts as goalkeeper for Dynamo Kiev for over 15 years and played almost 100 international matches for the national team, the defense has, as expected, gained in importance.

In 17 competitive matches with the 49-year-old on the sidelines, the Whites and Blues conceded a total of just ten goals. Moreover, 14 of the 17 matches mentioned were victorious (14-2-1). In around half of all league games played, the team kept a clean sheet. In the first competitive match of the new season, the approach is likely to be similar. Although the capital city side will want to put themselves in a good starting position with a win, the pressure to win is far less pronounced, as it is well known that the first and second legs for Kiev take place in foreign stadiums.

The runners-up will therefore have to be compact at the back and effective up front. Ultimately, it sounds like a typical international first leg, in which risk is minimized and the focus is on feeling things out. Consequently, we tend to predict a maximum of two goals after 90 minutes in the clash between Dynamo Kyiv and Partizan Belgrade.

Predicted Dynamo Kyiv line-up:
Bushchan; Diachuk, Popov, Bilovar; Tymchyk, Brazhko, Shaparenko, Dubinchak; Yarmolenko, Vanat, Kabaiev

Partizan Belgrade – statistics & current form

While Partizan Belgrade and Red Star Belgrade have fought intense duels for the titles to be awarded in Serbia in recent decades, Crvena Zvezda have clearly set themselves apart in the recent past. Partizan’s last triumph in the championship came in 2019. Since then, the Black & Whites have regularly had to make do with second place behind their arch-rivals.

As a result, Partizan’s last appearance in the Champions League group stage was almost 15 years ago. The 2010/11 season was the last time the “steamroller”, as the club from the capital is fondly known, had the opportunity to compete with the best club teams on this continent. With this in mind, it would be a surprise if this dry spell were to end this season of all seasons. Even with one of the many free bets without deposit, we wouldn’t bet on the “Crno-Beli” making it through three qualifying rounds.

Partizan’s early form is not yet scary

In the search for small plus points with regard to the first leg on Tuesday evening, it should be noted that the Black & Whites, unlike the Ukrainians, already played their first competitive game last weekend. However, coach Aleksandar Stanojevic’s charges did not leave a lasting impression. It took a last-minute goal from goalscorer Matheus Saldanha to leave the pitch with a 1:0 win at underdogs FK Napredak. The heavy favorites even played half an hour in superior numbers and still remained too harmless offensively. A significant improvement in performance is therefore needed to return from Poland with a decent result during the week.

In general, however, it seems that the team still needs to find its feet under the new head coach. Disappointing performances, such as the 3-0 defeat to ZSKA Moscow and the 2-1 loss to Slovenian club NK Bravo, have already predominated in preparation. The forward play in particular is currently lacking in penetration, creativity and effectiveness.

This is precisely why it is also an option to combine the 1X with the under 3.5 at maximum odds of 1.60. However, the Serbs may feel so comfortable in the role of the underdog that they manage to keep the score at 0-0 for as long as possible. A draw after 45 minutes is conceivable under these circumstances. With the Bet365 offer code, you can also play the 2.20 in the tip for the X after the first half relatively risk-free.

Partizan Belgrade’s predicted line-up:
Jovanovic; Durdevic, Markovic, Mujakic, Antic; Scekic, Arriaga, Trifunovic, Goh, Kalulu; Saldanha

Dynamo Kyiv – Partizan Belgrade head-to-head comparison / H2H result

This is the fifth time the clubs have faced each other in European Cup history. Dynamo Kiev always came out on top in the first four meetings. In both 1976/77 and 2017/18, the Ukrainians won the first and second legs against the traditional Serbian club. The Ukrainians even scored a whopping twelve goals themselves. However, the extent to which this digression into history is relevant for the upcoming clash is something that everyone must decide for themselves and weigh up accordingly when making their decision.

Dynamo Kiev – Partizan Belgrade betting tip

On paper, Dynamo Kiev and Partizan Belgrade are two very well-known clubs facing each other in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. However, the Ukrainians have been given a clear advantage ahead of the first leg. This is despite the fact that the Whites and Blues are not playing at home and have to play their home match in Lublin, Poland.

In terms of squad quality, Shovkovskyi’s side, who have won 14 of 17 competitive matches under their new coach and conceded just ten goals in the process, nevertheless appear to be stronger. Especially considering that the “steamroller” from Belgrade got off to a lackluster start to the league season, have hardly caused a sensation at international level in recent years and have also fallen short of their own expectations in preparation. Consequently, the betting odds between Dynamo Kiev and Partizan Belgrade leave no question as to who is the favorite going into this match. The highest odds on offer at Bwin for a Ukrainian win are just 1.63.

Because we believe that the visitors from Serbia will keep the game open for a relatively long time and the home side have to take into account that their preparation has not gone as planned so far, we are not betting on the outcome of the game. Instead, we’ll try the first leg of Dynamo Kiev v Partizan Belgrade with a bet of under 2.5. Winamax offers 1.86 for a maximum of two goals in regular time. We choose six units as the stake
