Will DZG beat Genk again?
Anything is still possible in Group H. Even last-placed Vienna still have a chance of securing one of the two places in the knockout stages of the Europa League, although that scenario is rather unlikely given the current standings. At the moment, Dinamo Zagreb are in line for a place in the last 16.
The Croatian record champions are in second place in the group after four match days and now go into the showdown with KRC Genk. As the runners-up, the Belgian representatives have a much worse chance than the hosts from Zagreb. After all, Genk are under pressure to win at the Stadion Maksimir – Dinamo Zagreb’s fortress.
The two clubs have already met in the first leg. The “Modri” from Zagreb celebrated a surprising away coup in Genk, where the Belgian representative was literally caught off guard by the strong Croatian offensive.
Nevertheless, according to the odds, the best bookmakers do not see Dinamo Zagreb as clear favourites against Genk in the second-round match. For a home win, odds of up to 2.40 are offered. As Zagreb have only lost one of their last twelve home games, the high odds on a Croatian win are definitely worth it.
Dinamo Zagreb – Statistics & current form
Play-wise, the “Modri” was clearly superior to the Slavonian guests from Osijek last weekend, yet in the end there was only one point for the Croatian record champions. The defensive bulwark of NK Osijek was only broken in the final phase, before the current leaders from Slavonia took a 1:0 lead before the change of ends.
Dinamo Zagreb thus blew their dress rehearsal before the crucial home match against KRC Genk. In the 1st HNL, the “Modri” thus remained winless for the fourth time in the last five match days. But at least there was an act of defiance in the Europa League. In the last group match, the Croatian record champions beat Rapid Vienna.
The importance of the victory against the Austrian representative is shown by the Group H table. After all, Dinamo Zagreb now has one leg in the sixteenth finals of the Europa League. If the “Modri” win at home again, odds of 2.40 will be paid out for Dinamo Zagreb vs. This means that second place is also secured in mathematical terms.
Stadium Maksimir – the fortress of DZG
Against the upcoming opponents from Genk, the Croatian record champions already ensured a clear balance of power in the first leg and celebrated an unchallenged away victory in Belgium. At home, the “Modri” now rely on the home advantage at the Stadion Maksimir and are brimming with self-confidence with their recent record in their own stadium.
On the international stage, Dinamo Zagreb have lost only two of their last 13 home games. One of the two defeats came in the first half of the season against West Ham United. Before that, there were four consecutive home defeats in the European Cups. If this is followed up, it stands to reason that a prediction on Dinamo Zagreb vs. Genk will also come true for the Croatian top club.
DZG head coach Damir Krznar will probably only have to do without Cop, Ademi and Juric due to injury in the Europa League. Compared to the starting eleven that was last in action in the 1st HNL, no major changes are expected.

Genk – Statistics & current form
So far, KRC Genk have played a mixed season and have disappointed especially in the Belgian top flight. After finishing runners-up last season, where the Smurfs were level on points with Club Brugge and only narrowly missed out on winning the championship, KRC Genk are only eighth in the Jupiler League after 15 matchdays of the current season.
The reigning runners-up have already suffered six defeats in this period. Among them was the most recent away defeat at Beershot VA. It was also the fifth away defeat in the last eight away games. It is quite possible that the next setback away from home will follow in Zagreb, especially since KRC Genk already lost clearly against their Croatian group rivals in the first half of the season.
This was the first defeat for the Smurfs against a Croatian club. Before that, Genk remained unbeaten twice in a row against teams from Croatia – both games against Lok Zagreb.
Is Genk flexing their offensive muscles?
It was especially the offensive that left a poor impression against the Croatian defensive bulwark in the first leg. All in all, only three goals were scored in four group matches in the group phase of the current Europa League anyway. Surprising as it may be, the Smurfs’ showpiece is undoubtedly their attacking department.
With players like Paul Onuachu and Theo Bongonda, they have two stars who are highly sought after by top European clubs. Onuachu, the Smurfs’ top scorer, currently leads the Jupiler League’s internal goalscoring charts. The Nigerian has already scored a total of ten goals for KRC Genk.
Internationally, the 27-year-old remained largely harmless. Onuachu only scored against Rapid Wien at the start of the EL 2021/22, since then the Nigerian has flown under the radar. KRC head coach van den Brom will nevertheless rely on his protégé up front.
Although the Smurfs delivered a poor performance in the league recently, no major changes are likely to be expected compared to the last starting eleven. Betting fans who still want to bet on Dinamo Zagreb vs. Genk can pick up attractive odds if they are successful.
Predicted line-up of Genk:
Vandervoordt – Munoz, Sadick, Lucumi, Arteaga – Thorstvedt, Hrosovsky – Ito, Heynen, Paintsil – Onuachu

Dinamo Zagreb – Genk Direct comparison / H2H balance
In the first leg of the current EL group stage Dinamo Zagreb and Genk met for the first time ever. Due, among other things, to the sending off in the second half, KRC Genk went down against the Croatian record champions despite home advantage and conceded a heavy defeat (0:3) against the “Modri”.
Dinamo Zagreb – Genk tip
Both clubs are not in the best of form at the moment and have faltered ahead of last weekend’s showdown on the international stage. Dinamo Zagreb missed out on a move to the top of the 1st HNL table, while the visitors from Genk continue to flounder in no-man’s land in the Jupiler League after their latest defeat.
Nevertheless, it is more than surprising that Dinamo Zagreb are not rated as clear favourites against Genk. In the first round, the Croatian record champions celebrated a clear victory at the Smurfs. Because the “Modri” will also benefit from home advantage this time, we do not rule out the next clear success against the Belgian runners-up.
The high odds on a home win have Value. Internationally, the Croatian record champions have only lost two of their last 13 home games. It is quite possible that this record will be extended in the upcoming home match against KRC Genk. After all, DZG have not conceded a goal against Belgian clubs six times in a row.
We expect a commanding home win and place our bet on Dinamo Zagreb vs. Genk at attractive odds on the Croatian hosts. For this we choose a stake of seven units in total.
