Little London derby at Selhurst Park
Not surprisingly, there is an English Premier League English week. Matchday five is on the agenda. It’s all about moving up the table and almost every game has a groundbreaking character. This also applies to the midfield duel between Crystal Palace and FC Brentford. In the London derby, it can be seen who is more likely to move into the top third and who has to move into the bottom third.
Crystal Palace currently have four points on their account. With one win, one draw and two defeats, the trend in the English top flight is slightly negative. However, things have been looking up in the last few games, even if they have not always been successful. In general, however, Patrick Vieira can be very satisfied with the start to the season, especially as the programme was quite challenging.
The Bees from Brentford got off to a good start and have five points after four matchdays. That is currently healthy mediocrity in the Premier League. With an away win, Thomas Frank’s side could even challenge for the European places.
Even if the big teams from the capital don’t meet, it is still a derby and this one has its own laws at Selhurst Park. The hosts must look to take their opponents as seriously as they have recently against the top clubs. We think that you will be more successful with a bet on a draw in the match between Crystal Palace and Brentford.
Crystal Palace – Statistics & current form
The fixture list before a new season does not always mean well for teams. Crystal Palace, for example, had already played title contenders Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City by matchday four. But that can also have its advantages, because now the Eagles can perhaps start a series and climb up the rankings, with Manchester United and Chelsea also being the opponents in the short term.
Ordinary results despite mega programme
Due to the programme, Patrick Vieira can live quite well with four points from four games. Palace also beat Oxford United in the EFL Cup. To be honest, one should say that one could not expect much more up to this point. Therefore, the form is okay and you can take a look at the odds on a point win for the Eagles in the duel between Crystal Palace and Brentford.
It could well have been a point last weekend. The Londoners were guests at champions Manchester City. But Patrick Vieira’s team started like fire and led 2-0 after 21 minutes following an own goal and Joachim Andersen’s strike. But that meant nothing for City. In the end, Crystal Palace ran out of steam and lost 4-2.
In an English week, it always makes sense to manage the load on the players. Patrick Vieira may therefore also make some changes to the starting eleven. It is conceivable that the Eagles will not be as defensively oriented as they were in Manchester on Saturday. Overall, the squad looks very good. Apart from young centre-back Nathan Ferguson, all players should be ready to play.

Brentford – Statistics & current form
Thomas Frank’s side have had the much easier opening programme, at least compared to their local rivals. However, the Bees have done only marginally better, picking up five points. It is therefore impossible to say who has got off to a better start.
Brentford have only lost one of their first five games this season. The 4-0 home victory over a struggling Manchester United was outstanding and unexpected. But the Bees’ only defeat of the season came away from home in a London derby. Let’s see if this isn’t a bad omen for Tuesday’s match at Selhurst Park.
At the weekend, Brentford FC hosted the Toffees from Everton. It became clear that the Bees are not as strong as they were last season after the departure of Christian Eriksen. After going behind early, Vitaly Janelt equalised late on in the 84th minute to make it 1-1.
Of course, there will also be some changes for the Bees. Among others, goal scorer Vitaly Janelt is a candidate who can definitely be expected in the starting eleven on Tuesday. The same goes for Keane Lewis-Potter and Mikkel Damsgaard. All in all, Brentford’s personnel situation looks very good. Coach Thomas Frank has no injured or suspended players in the squad at the moment.
Predicted line-up of Brentford:
Raya – Henry, Mee, Zanka, Hickey – Nörgaard, Jensen, Dasilva – Wissa, Mbeumo, Toney – Coach: Frank

27/08/2022 – Brentford 1 – 1 Everton

Crystal Palace – Brentford Direct Comparison / H2H Record
In fact, there have only been ten direct duels between Crystal Palace and Brentford FC to date. Despite the geographical proximity, no great rivalry has been able to develop that is known from other derbies in London. In the direct comparison, the Eagles are ahead with 4:1 victories. Most of the encounters, namely five, ended in a draw.
The majority of the ten direct duels so far result from times long past. Basically, the games last season are the only two we can use as a reference for our direct comparison. In both the first leg at Selhurst Park and the second leg at Brentford Community Stadium, the two rivals parted with a goalless draw.
Crystal Palace – Brentford Tip
It is surprising that there have been just ten games between Crystal Palace and Brentford FC. The Bees have only won once against their local rivals and that victory was 45 years ago. Last season, both duels ended in a 0-0 draw, which is basically a result we can imagine on Tuesday in English week.
The Eagles have had a tough programme so far and have already had to play Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. From there, four points from four games is a good haul and the Bees’ five points means the crowd at Selhurst Park can expect a match of equals.
Judging by past performances, however, there will at least be goals, unlike last season. Bets on both teams scoring or even more than 2.5 goals could perhaps suit. In the end, we can imagine a 1:1 or even 2:2. We have therefore decided to play the betting odds on a draw between Crystal Palace and Brentford.
